Right.. ive done a search and can't find a similar debate/poll so basically who's the better in your opinion?

Sharp for me, that's because ive seen more of him, but i do think you'll struggle to find a better box player who guarantees goals.

Would be a terrific partnership.
I know you can never tell until it happens but this'd be one of those 60 goal partnerships at Championship and probably 30+ at Premiership level, having said that what would Deane cost today if last season he'd just knocked in 12 top tier goals in 30 games? I'm saying 40m, could we afford that?

Sorry but in a straight fight Deane by a distance, our best striker since, well ever really, at least in my lifetime & not forgetting we have had some really good ones. Impossible to tell of course but I suspect as a partnership they would have been too hot to handle for many teams, would have certainly been something to see, between them they had all the tools you would wish for in a front two.

Sir Brian Deane is ahead of Billy now. Maybe in the future they might be equal, but it’s The Original Deano all the way for now.

Deano was fantastic, probably more of the type of player we want McBurnie to be

But Billy is such a grafter, adapts his game To this around him and scores goals!

I was just thinking how BD and OM both share this thing of not looking much like a footballer. An awkward gait, all limbs flailing about. It's my favourite thing watching old footage of Deano, how unlike a decent footballer he looks like, at first it seems he's won the spectator's raffle to wear no 10 for the afternoon... then suddenly he's skinned 5 defenders and the ball's in the back of the net and you realise you're watching one the the best of his generation.

Mcburnie has at least mastered the not-looking-like-a-footballer part.

Deane was the better player, so I voted him

Billy is probably the better lane legend. Just total class all round and it's been more fun watching him for the last 3 years

Brian Deane and you could really see him develop into a better footballer each season as he stepped up..
never so obvious than when he returned to us for his second and third spell. Scared living daylights even out of most robust opposition defenders. Legend

Post Tony Currie, so roughly the last 45 years, I'd say Deano has been United's best player. Can't knock Sharpy and this third spell he's had at United he's been excellent, as has is captaincy and the last few games in the Prem he's done really well but sorry Deano by a country mile.

I refuse to vote on this and get drawn into any comparisons, if only on the grounds that these Blades heroes deserve my utter and total respect for the joys they've brought me. Alf Ringstead; Doc Pace; Mick Jones; Alan Birchenall; Alan Woodward; Billy Dearden; Keith Edwards; Brian Deane; Tony Agana; Billy Sharp ...... putting only two names up on this thread seems almost churlish if we are to think of our best ever goal-scorers.
Given what Billy Sharp has done for us under the circumstances of our amazing revival puts him up there with the best.... end of argument for me!

it has to be Deane - love Billy to bits but whenever Deane got hold of the ball in the last third you almost expected him to score and he could always pull of the miraculous too. Some of the goals scored by him in his first spell with us were just something else

Let's not forget this: Deano was brilliant, but he had his lean spells too and wasn't playing in what is now effectively an international league with a fair smattering of many of the finest players on the planet.
