Woody for me , no contest ❤️

Used to love how Woodward could strike a ball so cleanly with power.
I was only young but I used to remember how Woodward’s corners were almost like shots.
He used to drill the ball into the box, hit with power and with a low flight. None of this float a cross into the box stuff.

Wow this vote is actually embarrassing. Is it serious?

Deane had pace, power and presence. Even PL defenders were quite fearful of him.
Think of a stronger faster McBurnie with better heading and finishing ability.
Deane was excellent in the air and decent at putting in crosses from the wing.
Think his weakness was a lack of a ruthless or nasty streak...Deane often came across as too nice...calm/ almost gentle temperament.
He was on the fringes of the England squad....Sharp hasn’t been anywhere near playing for England.

Although Sharp is no where near his level....I would say that Sharp is a better finisher....but his style is more of a goal poacher....but he is so reliant on being set up.
Also I’ve been really impressed with Sharps character and captains influence in the dressing room. Both deserve the plaudits.
That embarrassing you've replied with a few long paragraphs

Deano was amazing in his first spell. He had everything a centre forward needs, pace, strength and power. Billy has been unlucky in not playing too many games at the top level but I would guess he has the respect of all Blades fans for the goals he has scored and his love for the club. Now Edwards was a different animal and for me is the most natural goal scorer I have seen at the lane. How we could do with those 3 at their peak right now.

Just for the young uns, when you had Deano you went to the Man Utd’s, Liverpool’s, Arsenals of this world and you knew they would struggle to handle him when he was on song.

Someone mentioned he didn’t have the nastiness and I think that’s probably true, he was fundamentally a quiet lad at heart. If he had a little more aggression and bite I think he would have got 20+ caps for England.

Remains our player since the Currie and Woodward years. 😍

Just done a bit of investigating, Billy was 5 when seats went in kop .

Watching Premier League 100 on Sky, I wondered how many deane got.

According to Premier League website he 71 goals in 286 matches.

Not too bad considering some of the teams he played for in Premier League.

Love em both , I am that old standing on the kop was the best , that big aisle down the middle , used to stand on the edge of that on the highest side lovely view , Deano for me tho just ! He had it all wish we had him up front now , i remember him coming on after we signed him from Donny a Giant of a man !

Deane scored 96 top flight goals in 353 matches.

And only 2 of them were penalties.
