...not for me, we've already got two or three in the same mould as mentioned above...

I reckon Billy Clarke would be the last piece in the relegation jigsaw to be honest. They might as well keep what they've got and give Diego some game time .

£5 million... God, some managers talk an absolute bucketful of crap.

That's just a manager over emphasising that one of his better players is "not for sale."

I expect they would snatch your hand off if you offered anything close to 500k.

But at 40 goals in around 200 appearances, not really more prolific than what we've got (other than Porter). More of the same, and not for me.

You wanna go check your stats on Porter? I worked out he was about 90 goals in 319 appearances. I know you don't like him but at least represent him honestly.

I believe I have eleswehere calculated Porter's stats at worse than you have, and I believe you are correct in that. None the less, we are where we are becaue we have players like Chris Porter (i underfstand your wider argument about the root caue too), and it should be our number 1 objective to improve on this. I believe the manager knows this too.

Just seen he's been released by Crawley, worth a punt had a good previous spell?

Not for me. He was alright last time, but isn't really an out-and-out striker and we already have Scougall and Baxter that can play in his role. I prefer both of those to him.

Been released ? He was worth £5M a few weeks ago according to that twat Gregory.

Billy Paynter sat on the bench for half a season...

But we're talking about pre-season and building the squad for next season.

Paynter was a back up signing, to bulk the squad.

NC now has the summer to be be more calculated in the transfer market and to mould his squad.

Yeah and i woudl say that Billy Clark offers a lot more along the lines of a Flynn, Murphy, Scougall type

2 strikers, coady, brayford, davies and freeman, oh and a centre half = my idea of the perfect recruitment drive.

Aye, fair play. I still think we'd be struggling for pace if Flynn or Murphy picked up a knock

Yeah I can see why the pace may be a worry, but with Baxter, Davies, Scougall and perhaps Khan, we wont be short of cover for those midfield slots.

I'm not dead against bring in Clarke, I just really want us to address the key issues first (strikers, coady and brayford). Once their all sorted I can relax and be more blaise!

Obviously it was well documented that we were in for Billy Clarke in January, but John Gregory, being an idiot said he was a massive fan, and that he wanted £5,000,000 (its not a typo) yes £5 million pounds for a league one player, infact, the exact quote is below.

“There has been no approach and Billy is a player I’m a big fan of, so it’d have to be £5million if they want him.”

6months later, he's just been told he's not getting a new contract at Crawley.... begs the question, will Clough be back in for him on a free? I don't really think hes any better than what we have, based on his time at Crawley, if he can't get a contract at Crawley, does he deserve one here?
