Much of of the problem with Billy's interview has arisen because of live football and the obsession with hearing players/managers opinions immediately after the game. They hardly have time to get their thoughts together and over the years several interviews have made people look rather foolish and I imagine a good number of them would have worded things differently if they'd had time to think about it first.

I agree post match interviews and press conferences are often more a case of pussyfooting around stuff rather than being blatantly honest. The journos and tv people try to trip you up and get a soundbite but experienced pros should be able to navigate it.

He didn't actually say the referee was incompetent or bent. He says he 'thought'. Can't be done for what you think.

Next time Billy has an interview he should just say "no comment" to every question said regardless of whether it is a valid question or not. I find it refreshing when players that are fans of the club actually speak their mind. It's not like he said a load of offensive abuse.

Like already been mentioned he should just do it Noel Gallagher style and say everything is amazing in a sarcastic tone. If I was him, that is what I would do.
