Biggest embarrassment to the club today

Not sure where I said frightening people was fun. Just saying it was blatantly obvious for 10 mins previous where it might happen. Self-police and move away. Seems to me every away game now we have a load of young lads in the concourse at half time creating an atmosphere/being pricks who should be strung up/somewhere inbetween (depending on your point of view). Everyone can see them. Don't go near them if you don't like it.
They aren't there every away game though are they? Just Barnsley, Donny and Rochdale where they have been intent on causing aggro of some sought. Our worst performance was in between those at Bury and they were nowhere to be seen thank god. The team got a real slating at the end of that one. Luckily the ground stayed in one piece

Wonder how many members of this forum who are criticising the actions of these youths were around in the 1960's and 1970's and played an active part (indirectly or directly) in the violence on the kop as an away team tried to 'take the Shoreham'. Some of the violence that was around in those days was far greater than singing a ditty about Adam Johnson.

The exuberance of youth has gone on for generations. Young people as a species haven't changed. The only ones who have changed are us parents and grandparents. Try not to look back and say 'we never behaved like that.'

You can be sure that in 30 or 40 years time these youngsters will be communicating on S24SU and ringing Praise or Grumble to berate a new set of youths who have upset a tea lady at Sandygate Road or the Coach and Horses ground as we make our fifth attempt to get promoted from some Northern Counties League.

I'm a little too young for the 60s and 70s, but one of my biggest gripes, is the lack of respect for fellow Blades, which I've always though was there in most cases over the years.

Agreed. This is costing us on the pitch.

Nonsense. Were our fans 'aggressive and violent' at Gillingham and at every other debacle this season? The MAIN damage these louts are doing to Sheffield United is providing an excuse for the board, manager and players - the real reason it's 'costing us on the pitch'.

Were the aggressive fans looking for a fight and threatening our players. Word will go around and I am sure good players will not choose to join us this summer if they have contract offers from other clubs, Well done you utter twats!

Fans do not play the most important part ( if any part at all ) , on a player and his agents decision on we're the player will ply his trade . Money and money is the item that only talks.

Fans - do they put additional dosh in a players pocket - no.

Come to this massive club because of facilities and fans - load of bollocks and PR spin .( come to this club because they offered me most money , bonuses , length of contract more like it )

These idiot fans are just another deflection of the real issues at the lane . The players think exactly the same about fans , as the fans do about the players - contempt .

We don't even like each other for a starter for 10.

Jesus Christ... Some of you lot won't be happy until every ounce of passion is omitted from the club.

Today was a slight improvement on the pitch but we are still absolute tosh. The reaction was warranted and as for rooting people out for throwing tea bags and milk around... Get a fucking grip.

Losers

Passion?
Trying to steal a hard up clubs groundsheet or throwing beer around or letting off smoke bombs on the concourse is just showing passion?
God help us all if they start over stepping the mark then .......

Having a laugh with your mates does. Have a great Saturday night.

N.B. If you do not have any, I cannot be arsed to explain to you what it means to do so

Not really surprising that someone who thinks throwing tea and milk about - clearly drawing the line at sugar though, let's not go mad, constitutes a good time, falls back on a "you've got no mates" jibe as an answer.

Well done.

Back to the OP I can't be bothered to read 5 pages.

Yes some of our fans are daft cunts and shouldn't fight with each other or wreck other grounds.

But I can make a cast iron guarantee that no potential signings will think "I'm not going there cos of the fans"

it's hard to describe these kind of fans. They go home and away to support the Blades but what is it they enjoy the most, the football or just getting pissed with their mates and acting like twats?

They go home and away - and the Blades happen to be there as well.

Not sure how much supporting is going on. It's just a backdrop for whatever they want to get up to. It's about them, not the team. And it's not just young lads. Far from it.

A season ticket holder for 10+ years, i don't often go to away games (despite living closer to most grounds in our league than Bramall Lane) and yesterday reminded me why. The behaviour of some of the fans was embarrassing. Fighting the stewards to try and attack our own players is pathetic. And the tug of war? Looks like a great idea! Until the club gets charged for damages, which i have no doubt they will (Similar to the Air Con unit a few weeks ago)

Yes the player/manager performances recently have not been good enough. But taking it out on catering staff (who are mostly students trying to make what money they can in what little free time they have) is unacceptable and definitely not the answer.

I do agree with that, attracting players to clubs is largely down to money.

If players were put off by knob head fans Leeds and Millwall would be playing in non league.

Did anyone remember Denise or Shred yesterday?
Well done youth for showing due respect.

My only experience of Shred was at Crewe (I think) when he was berating Blades for singing "we're so shit it's unbelievable".

It said a lot about some of the people there yesterday that they sang his name in tribute but then acted in a way I'm guessing he would have hated.

I also struggle to understand the mentality of risking going to prison by smuggling a smoke bomb past a sniffer dog so that you can set it off at half time where no-one can see it. Is it worth going down and ruining your life for 800 views on youtube?

Ah forget it then, you're right.

Lets all be bellends with each other, because that's how it should be, saying otherwise is complaining about absolutely anything.

I've followed United home and away for years, whilst there's been the odd occasional Blade on Blade fracas, there's been a large increase in people starting on their fellow supporters for simply having the audacity to sing a song in support or have a slightly different opinion.

Throwing punches because someone stood in-front of you doesn't agree that they should shut up and stop supporting because "we're fucking wank".

Let's all start joining in the intimidation of catering staff, because it makes us feel the big man amongst our pals... best make sure we sing about Adam Johnson and throw beer at people in between though.

Makes you proud.
I felt so embarrassed about the behaviour in te concourse and the catering staff looking very nervous, I actually went over and said to one group of catering 'I'm sorry about these idiots, we're not all like that'

Agree that the decision on joining a new club will be that wages will be the highest priority (agents advice too) but I said if the player has similar offers from other clubs (same division as us) and they hear that these so called Blades threatening our players yesterday will not come to us

Cast Iron Guarantee? You are deluded! See my reply to Lord Bos

If we would have won yesterday would this thread be alive??
Frustrating it is when we're not putting points on the board,it's no excuse for throwing milk and sugar around.
I'm still pondering taking my five year old to her first game, when things like this happen it doesn't help.
Don't get me wrong, I can be as potty mouthed as the next man,but reading about yesterdays antics by some of our so called'fans' has left me feeling embarrassed about the club I support.
If we were playing well and pulling points in then I'm pretty sure scenes like yesterday wouldn't have happened.

Obviously, but it seems a waste of money with all the searches and sniffer dogs, when they still manage to get one in.

Well I think you're deluded, show me in history where a player has decided not to move to a club 'because of the nasty fans'

Do you also think our idiot fans are exclusive?
Yes, Peter Withe asked Bob Hatton for advice on whether he should join the Blades in 1985. Bob Hatton told him that he thought the Blades fans were great to him. Then this made Withe decide to sign for us. So many players have said "I have decided to join this club because of the passionate fans". YOU ARE DELUDED!

So where is your proof players haven't ?

Do you actually think it is wise for players to reveal to the media that he didnt sign for the club because he had heard of idiots there who threaten the players?

I just don't believe it happens as someone alluded to above clubs like Leeds and Millwall would have no players.

So assuming you're right I expect the players who were there yesterday who's contract is up in June will be saying to Adkins they don't want a new contract at all?

What about players who have experienced football in Turkey wanting to come back, black players who were glad to have left Russian League to join the PL because of the racism they suffered in Russia???

Racism is a different argument than the one you're making, I'm on about 'nasty fans' here and not moving to a club because of them or have I misunderstood the OP?

Let me get this straight. You are saying that the behaviour of a minority of fans will mean Adkins will no longer be able to attract the likes of Hammond and Woolford to the club?
