That was epic. Although it was frustrating at best I remember going to Coventry away in December in 2007 when we won 1-0 and the tunnel was in the corner in between the home and away fans and Robson was getting loads of abuse from us Blades fans when he came out for the 2nd half and after winning the game. Surprised he lasted till February to be fair.

I think our next manager will be Billy Sharp tbh, I reckon he will join the coaching staff as player-coach 21/22, and then if Wilder leaves at some point, he will step up as temporary manager...

I think it would be an awful move for both Billy’s confidence and the club, but i can see it happening with this trend of ex-players taking on management roles straight after playing/coaching

I still want Wilder Mk I to come back and unseat the Bodysnatchers version we’ve currently got in the hot seat, but I would say that just because that’s the bookies’ list, it doesn’t mean that the next manager would necessarily be someone on that list.

If we allow that the signings of Retsos and Zivkovic were suggested by someone other than Wilder, we clearly have someone at the club who looks at European football and who may well be placed to suggest a manager of less reknown but more potential than the rather depressing names on that list.

My guess is that if we do lose Wilder, our next manager will be someone relatively obscure from a European league who’ll promise the ownership team more player development, more expansive football and a wider net to cast to bring more talent in.

I don't get the attraction of Benitez, when he has good players and good resources he's superb, but his Newcastle side was barely any better than Bruce's, playing drab negative football hoping for 0-0 for about 80 minutes of most games even when they were already losing. With even less resources, he'd get us back up, but I'm not sure we'd get an exciting Champs League side out of him.

Wilder could teach Rafa a thing or two about boring defensive football with a highlilghts reel from his team selections and tactics this season including the marvelous 'back 8'. Although I do think Rafa as a DoF to Wilder's first team coach would be good.

I think as a DoF he would be superb. I think he is on record as saying you have to play a system that gets the best out of the existing players if you have a very limited budget as he did at Newcastle so that might explain the drab football. Admittedly I don't think his system is the most attractive even when he has funds, but as a DoF I would be surprised if you could find someone more experienced. I also feel he is decent man too much like Wilder and they probably could work well together.

I'm not saying it won't end in tears. That's why I said someone who'll promise those things, not necessarily someone who'll deliver on them.

The man you're describing is Wilder Mk I. I think he would be the best person to take us forward, but at the moment he's AWOL with some imposter in the manager's dugout.

The list is just..... so unimaginative, isn't it? Is this the best the bookies can come up with with?

To be made favourite my initial reaction was that Danny Cowley must have a good agent, but then I remembered that about 3/4 of the Football League has changed managers this year and he hasn't got one of those, so maybe he hasn't got an agent at all. He's on Sky a lot, though.

But then.. he could combine the accent of Bassett with the touchline shithousery of Warnock. So it could be perfect, although there would be a distinctly modern twist on that with his terminology which is of the type that is lapped up by hipsters and pseuds alike. And his appointment would be a good, healthy dose of reality for those who think we've established ourselves as a big club.

I think we can say there'd be something for everyone.
