Thought it might be an interesting thread to get people to tell us their best/worst experiences following the Blades.(Sorry if this has been done already - new member!!)

For me, best experience is undoubtedly May 5th 1990, Filbert Street, Leicester 2 Blades 5 to get promoted to the top flight. The ecstasy when the fourth goal went in after being 1-0 down and thinking we'd cocked it right up will live with me forever(sorry love!):D

The worst would have to be the play-off final against Palace. After a brilliant Blades related weekend on the South Coast, to have it all taken away with the last kick of the game was soul destroying. Still remember seeing women, children and some fully grown men crying( who says its only a game. Somehow the relegation games against Wigan and Chelsea all those years ago, didn't seem as bad as this.

Warnocks promotion season for my best experiance

for the worst, the un-deserved loss against wigan which sent us down :(

Best experience is two-fold;

1) with Billy above at Filbert Street, icing on the cake was dancing around the pitch at Leicester to be informed that the Grunters had lost at home and we were replacing them in the top flight...priceless.

2) Sheff Utd 5 Arsenal 0 in about 1973 I think it was. Night game, TC was just unstoppable, probably best performance in a Blades shirt I ever saw.

Worst Moment!

Easy, that game against Walsall which sent us down to Division 4! All that were there know how low this club had sunk at that point, nothing since even comes close!

I wasn't going to the match when we went down to Division 4 but I remember how gutted my brothers were returning home and my Dad (pig-fan!) smirking inwardly. The atmosphere wasn't good at home, I think one comment could have started world war three.

P.S. Can someone move this thread, I've put it in General Chat when it was supposed to be in General Blades Chat( You can tell I'm new !!!!!)

September 1973................

Tony Tony Currie...Tony Tony Currie......

Pity SUFC had to sell him to pay leccy bill............mind yer they tell me were not a sellin club any more............ want to bet ?

best blade moment so far has got to be seeing christian nade score against the gunners at home :D:D:D

worst blades moment so far has got to be the wigan match, we had loads of chance but we couldnt get another goal, unsworth scored the penalty to send us down, and we got relagated by one goal difference :(:(:(

Im with you Billy, the best has got to be Filbert Street, 1990, ................

The worst is the play off match with wolves in cardiff.......

Best..

02/03 season i think it was .. 3rd in the league, semi-finals of both cups play-off final, beat Liverpool, Leeds twice (Jags' stunner :D), Forest 4-3 which i think is the best game ive ever been to so far. :)

Promotion season as well.

Worst..

Losing to Wolves 3-0, but the Premiership season was the worst. Going down to a goal by a player that was a United player at the start of the year :(

Best moment

So many to choose from, in honesty. Darlington in '82; Deano sticking it through Woods' legs in '91, Dane and 'Hellsbore Bob' in the return, the deep joy of Filbert Street in '90, Forest when we finally won in '91, Forest again in the play off semi-finals with Peschisolido's celebration (remember that match sufclucy??), but for me it's ......

Sheffield United 6 West Brom 0 - February 19, 2000

Almost purely to embarrass sufclucy, this is easily my favourite match. We were one up very early (Marcus Bent, I think), but then the Baggies (and I've never liked them) went down to ten when Richard Sneekes was sent off.

The blue and white bastards fell apart, and as we went four up, sufclucy jumped up and yelled "Wouldn't it be great if we got FIVE!"

Well when the sixth went in and she jumped up onto my shoulders and yelled

"UNITED ARE THE BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD, DAD!", my heart pumped so hard I thought I'd die. My eldest baby had got the passion.

I knew she had a bit before really, when she said "That was a total disaster." a couple of months before one Sunday after we drew with Rushden & Diamonds, but that was the first time I saw her really enjoy a win. She was only five years old for both games ......

The attendance is interesting - less than 15,000 - quite a strong following from West Brom too .....

Worst moment

So, so many ..... Walsall in '81 was a truly desolate moment. Not a person had a friend on the Kop that night; if you did, you couldn't see them for tears.

Altrincham away in the Cup was awful, getting to Colchester 15 minutes late to find out we were 3-0 down, getting to Wimbledon away at half time when we were losing 3-0 when Mervyn Day 'played' in the the net for us.

I don't like that time round Christ(TM)mas time either .....

There have been many diabolical performances in my time, Palace at home last season for a start, Wolves at Cardiff, Swansea in the Cup, Bury and Stockport (5-2, both) at home in the League Cup

I'm not sure that December 26, 1979 was a great day, but by a distance was

Sheffiield United 1 Port Vale 3 - November 23, 1999

Even including Swansea in the Cup the other year, that was worst I've ever seen United play.

Even including Division 4 matches, that first half performance was too poor for words. I walked out at half time we were that bad. Honestly, I couldn't take any more.

And we were winning 1-0 at the time.

We were winning, in a league match, but I walked out. Believe me, we were terrible.

Lots of good moments really, all of those mentioned above, Hillsborough when we won in the rain was a special night also.

Worst, two of them for me, Losing to Palace at Wembley and Losing to Our neighbours at Wembley were low points. After losing to pigs we were on our way home in my clapped out mini and this pig fan in his posh Range Rover thought he would have some fun by trying to run us off the M1, says everything about the swill eaters for me.

Top reply!

Forgot abot the Port Vale game. The atmosphere inside BDTBL that night was horrible, it wouldn't have surprised me if there had been a pitch invasion and something terrible had happened (no surprises Adrian Heath isn't managing anymore!)

Speaking of bad atmospheres, happy, and your hatred of West Brom what about:-

Not my worst experience but a strange one definitely (forgot about Megsons post match comments, made me hate him even more).

Boxing Day 1979 would have been my worst experience but I was too young to be attending matches then (honest!);)

Brought a tear to my eye, reading that! :)

Filbert Street - Wilf Rostron's half-volley that bounced TWICE before going past..... porky legend Martin Hodge!! :D:D

Best moment:

Not had many really in my young United life, but i would probably have to say Arsenal at home when Nade scored the only goal. It was a great result and the atmosphere was immense. Also the cup runs in 02/03 spring to mind.

Worst moment:

Definitely relegation from Premiership, although Wednesday away this season was hard to take. Never felt like not going to the next game as much as i did after that.

Best Moment:

Beating Leeds twice in the cups - especially the one with the jags wonder goal. Promotion to the premiership

Worst Moment:

Meeting Stinkyblade:D haha. Erm really....Relegation from the premiership and 3-0 thrashing against wolves (to this day im still blaming john curtis for that)

Best and worst moments? Hmmm....
As far as matches go, there are plenty of stinkers. The two play-off finals, relegation last season, the pigs beating us at their sty this year, any Adrian Heath moment, ditto Robson.

The best? There have been many great ones, including when we tonked the pigs 3-1 after Quinny had put them in front, beating Arsenal last season, beating Arsenal in the cup in 1996 (?) after drawing with them at their place - when we only had three sides and a building site. Deano coming on for the last few minutes of the last match of the promotion season.
There have also been some bloody excellent away trips, which seem to mainly coincide with us either drawing or losing. Southampton the other week is a prime example - we lost, but I had a damn good weekend away.

"She was only five years old for both games ......" I was actually 6 at the time Dad ;) lol!
Fav : Arsenal game last year! Or the Leeds match with Jagz amazing goal!! :D
Worst : Going down last year! :(

Your life changed the day i walked into it :)

And for the good :p
