Best transfer since?

Does this mean Howard has gone for the season or for good?

I'd deffinately rather have Harper over Howard. Just need to get him fit now.

As far as I can gather; we get Harper on a year's contract (and on those wages), they get Howard on loan for the season as a makeweight in that deal.

Harper is quality...even though I reckon he may only have been brought in to play whilst Williamson is injured. I suspect we may find out Howard is a better player than we thought now he's at Reading. Whatever, a great signing and at last we do a bit of business on deadline day that excites us. Plus it looks like Killa is staying which is a huge positive

I doubt it if we're paying his contract which will be well in excess of Williamson's.

That said, I'm beginning to get a tad worried about this transfer as they don't seem to think it's gone through on the Reading boards.

Ha, I take that back, he's on the radio now :D

someone better tell harper then because he is on the raido now saying hes delighted to sign here

If Harper is fit and motivated, he could be the best signing for years.
Potentially a tremendous bit of business - well done SUFC and Blackwell.
Well said Lenners, you are a far more agreeable chap than that Len fellow who used to post on BU. No relation obviously :-)

If we are getting the Harper that used to rule the roost alongside Sidwell in Reading's excellent promotion team (and played well in the Prem) then this is a significant acquisition and I'm genuinely excited. I can't help a degree of caution though. He has not been getting a game in a notably inferior Reading team. Has he gone stale? Lost his way in other respects? Hampered by injury? I don't know. I only hope he is revitalized by his move to BTDBL. If so, we've signed a gem!

I've just heard his interview on Radio Sheff. He impressed as a pleasant articulate guy but most of all his enthusiasm for football and the Blades was hugely uplifting.

Well done Blacky. Still need a striker and centre back though!

That's the one thing that slightly concerns me. He played the 'Monty' role for many years alongside the likes of Sidwell, he even likened himself to Monty's style in the interview. How those two gel will be crucial although, dare I say it, maybe Blackie's long term pairing is Williamson and Harper (shhh).

Jim,

It was Monty+ though, wasn't it?. All the Monty attributes plus passing, making and scoring goals. Didn't he notch 6 in Reading's first Prem season?

loving the signing of Harper! will bring some much needed physical presence to or midfield.
seems like the sort of player we need at the mo - bullish and confident. you need broad shoulders (metaphorically speaking)to play at Bramall Lane - don't think Howard was up to it.
