Needed one moment from Leicester and I'm not sure what it would be?
Taking over half the ground and the fancy dress pitch invasion and Agana waving us back

Or the ping pong goal thst finally went in after about 10 attempts ricochet and Deano dropping to his knees in celebration?
That was the goal for me!

The goal I keep replaying in my rapidly ageing brain is the Currie goal v West Ham in the mid 1970’s, I think we were 0-2 behind and I believe Currie‘s goal was our 3rd to make it 3-2. The other memory from that match was all the trouble at the back of the Kop.

That’s the goal I remember most fondly.

oops, just realised it’s meant to be since 1980.

0-1 Gould
1-1 Currie
1-2 Jennings

Half time

2-2 Woodward
3-2 Currie

Related.... How bad was Basham's slide after he scored? Absolutely pathetic. I can do better than that and I'm 48 and would break every bone in my body 🤣

Don't know if it's been mentioned in the thread already but Quinn's winning penalty was against Coventry in 98, if i remember correctly Pembo scored the winning pen v Blackburn. In fact I know it's Pembo as my initial thought was f*** Pembo's taking it, this will end up in the BL upper!!

Dont understand why many say Darlington was the best. It was embarrassing that we had a season in the 4th division. I disliked the 3rd tier too

I think the fall from 1976 to that point contained some of the most awful seasons we'd ever had consecutively. Year on year of just getting worse, no stagnating in mid-table just decline. Winning that division is a minor significance for a club our size (same for Wolves) but that whole day at Darlington was just something very unique. I was stood with a Mackem, who just turned up as he thought it might be a decent event and their game was meaningless. As he left, he turned to us and said it was the craziest and best day out at football he'd ever had. Like all those listed here, you had to be there to understand it.

I’d forgotten about the Blackburn game , I think there’s a picture of Ward with the match ball as he claimed the hat trick. Stood on the West end terrace we went mental as Pembo slotted the penalty home, it was something different . Again this was one of them nights where we were written off against the might (of the time) Blackburn who had players like Ripley, Newall and Wegerle. That game also meant we faced the pigs in the Semi. I went for Duffy but this goal is definitely up there.

For me it's the applause after the 5th Hull goal went in at Wembley.

Darlington was a good day out but didn't come close to the sheer ecstacy of Leicester.

It just didn’t did it.

Promotion to the top flight with that lot going the other way vs a Good old Jolly up to celebrate getting to the 3rd Division !!

I’m

Afraid 😀.

UTB

I was at both, Leicester was amazing, iced nicely by finding out the Rusties were dropping. Darlington was just that little bit better, numbers in the ground and totally taking over, the first time I'd seen significant numbers in fancy dress, the town in the build-up.

Leicester was a higher level version of Darlo, and we all know a replica isn't just quite the same as the original 😉😉😉

I was thinking about this earlier and found this thread.

It's Jack O'Connell's goal against Ipswich for me.

Nothing else even comes within a million miles of it.

Sorry if already been said, but Sharp V Bournemouth and the Snodgrass VAR disallowed goal V West Ham are my top 2 and can’t decide between them. Chelsea away from 2 down was an unbelievable feeling too. Being 2-0 up V Man U was an exceptional feeling. That season take me back please

Nothing beats those old nostalgic memories but the Doyle goal against Blackburn and Norwood’s penalty against Wolves should be added to the pantheon.
