Calvert Lewin off....fisherman's friend on. Defies logic. Technically and effort he was best on the pitch. Clean precise passes. One error as I saw.

Baptistie. Edgar appalling
Whole defence poor, in fact majority of team poor.

formation change??

One of the up sides of being fucking shite is that you don't have to give a fuck about which player the tombola kicks out.

Disappointing thing is I was hoping this was a thread about a player leaving.

You're kidding! DCL never won a header and got outmuscled throughout, though he did have one good effort when he burst through and shot over Good substitution, Sammon caused problems.

We conceded two poor goals from headers and the CBs have to take the blame, though for the second I thought Long should have clained it.

Against Burton it felt as though Whiteman and Calvert-Lewin were sheer desperation moves from the manager. Hasn't got any inspiration to bring off the bench so we're praying a couple of kids will make a difference.

Good luck to them, and we might as well give them a few runs, but neither seems ready.

Hopefully some of the kids do well in the run in, to encourage other clubs to take them on loan.

I'm already starting to dread the thought about starting next year with an emphasis on youth.

Adkins says we should have won with chances we created, is that the way you saw it ?

We always miss Collins when he isn't there. Know why, he wins about 70% of the headers in our box, minimum.

Collins might win a lot of headers but the trouble is they always go to the opposition

Thought the same myself. If Collins had been in defence he would have stopped those headers. Much as people hate him he does get to headers

It's not as if we have a jags or tongey waiting in the wings.

We might well have, but Jags at 17 looked like a gawky athlete, not a footballer. We didn't rely on him until his twenties.

The same applies now - our kids are being promoted ahead of their time, which could pay dividends eventually. But relying on them now is just suicide.

Next season squad which will be mainly made up of Accademy players, free transfers and Hammond like past its. sets up the prospect of a pretty horrific season to make this one look like Brazil's 1970 World Cup campaign.

If Adkins is stopping and still in a job. , is that the reason he his recruiting 30 year old something players he can trust to steady the ship with youth . No idea but tactics , player recruitment doesn't give much confidence , and forget about geese , it's more seagulls follow the trawler to me.

yes, I remember him in the early days - but what he was, and always has been is an athlete.

Wasn't it Bassett who said, give me 11 athletes and i'll give you a team?

One of my big gripes is we are incapable of closing the opposition down either home or away and see it regular from the opposition (latest was Burton).

We must clear these lot out and replace with younger but hungry players who are prepared to graft (when NEEDED).

There are times when we need to stop being big billy Blade (because that is what we are in L1) and graft and compete.

If Adkins think "our" youth will do that, then he is mistaken and if he goes or is made to go down this route then he will be out of a job by November.

We need different players, but ours are simply not ready and it will end in disaster next season.

If this is what McCabe told Adkins recently when they had lunch, then we are well and truly.........fucked.

It certainly has echoes of previously shitty seasons where there is no money and an emphasis on "why are we paying for an academy if we don't use it"? Add to that the appointment of McCabe acolytes (The chuckle brothers) into positions of power to protect his investment and it reminds me of that year one of the lifts to the exec boxes packed in and they decided it was cheaper to brick the shaft up rather than pay for the engineer to come out.

But if that's how it is then that's how it is.

Not trying to be clever saying that. The writing is on the wall funds-wise. The reference to "making pathways for the young players" is a careful message which is not ambiguous when there is also no mention of offering Adkins a good budget next summer.

Looks to me like he's got to sell his assets to rebuild from the bottom.

It's yours and my decision whether to renew season tickets.

I suppose at least Adkins has got experience of that type of scenario, having had to sell Andy Keogh, Billy Sharp & Martin Paterson while at Scunny. But that was within the context of a buoyant club who'd been on the rise for a couple of seasons before he got there.

And who, realistically, have we got to sell? Che's full of potential, & is probably our major asset. But are others going to be jumping to buy even Billy or Beard for good money, bearing in mind their ages & the wages they're both probably on? Apart from them, you're scratching around to find saleable assets who'd raise money. Matty Done, maybe.

Without a respectable amount of underwriting from McCabe/Prince, we're looking into the barrel of serious decline, even from the point we're at now.

That may be how it is, but the young players we have er vainly not good enough, yet. They may well be in future, but definitely not now.

Baptist played well. DCL was tiring and not physical enough. Sammon came on did well and we created more chances. It was actually a good substitution in hindsight

I agree DCL was tiring, watch the play back and look at the ground he covered from up front to defence. Baptistie , I don't agree with, effectively like some scared Sunday league player. Most of the passes from the back were reckless and they just simply hoofed the ball in hope, and rarely looked up before kicking.
