Best moment of 2017?

I can narrow it down to about 30 seconds. Masses of unwashed arrogant twats jumping about like challenged kangaroos, gloating like fuck that United has given up a 2 goal lead.

Then a little ginger scouser smashes one into the top corner from a seemingly impossible angle that completely silences the hoard of grunting fuck wits. Que scenes of absolute delirium in Leppings Lane.

“You’re not bouncing anymore”

Magic
This is correct by a distance, and will take some beating to be fair.

My vote goes to 100pts and a trophy. Not likely to see that again any time soon.

Oh and also becoming one of the few clubs to have one all four professional divisions of English league football.

1. 8/4/17 The Northampton win/the return of the heroes
2. 2/5/17 Town Hall celebrations
3. 24/9/17 The day the bounce died

Watching the replay back of Flecks goal I like the fact that the pig keeper catches it on the way back out whilst still rooted to the spot.

My favourite bit of that is Clarke's Gene Kelly impression. And I didn't even notice that until about the eighth viewing.

Sky are running a feature about 'your club's best moment of 2017' but obviously they can only be arsed to look at the top 20 clubs in the country.

I'm not sure I've ever experienced a calendar year quite like this one and even the past month can't taint what has been an amazing time to be a Blade. So, what's your standout moment and why? Winning promotion? Winning the league? Beating our nearest rivals Bolton back in February? The open top bus parade? First day back in the Champ?

For me it has to be the derby. Not only was it a resounding away win, it was a brilliant performance, a great game and proof that we would do well in this league. Importantly though, we stuffed the pigs in their own back yard.

Promotion was great, but there was an underlying feeling of relief which stopped me getting too giddy.

Here's to a similarly legendary 2018. Merry Christmas Blades.

Being on the away end at Northampton.

Me too. On Christmas Eve 2016 a piglet mate of mine said there were better sides than us in League 1. I'm not usually bold about predictions when it comes to United. And he hadn't a clue (bless his wishful thinking), but it wasn't even a debate. I knew we were the best side in the league. The rest of the season was just a joy.. I've never ever had such confidence in United. 98 points wouldn't have had quite the same ring to it! (thank you Mr Lafferty).
As a one off.. the Duffy moment 24/9/17, all day long :):p:p:)...UTB

The Billy moment on the pitch at Northampton just shades it over THAT goal.

I should pick the moment it was obvious that we had finally achieved promotion, after so long in that fucking division........but I'm going for Brooks' nutmeg of Hunt in the derby. It was a much looked forward to day, and it began so well, and to see the young lad skin their plodding defender, well it was just one of several highlights that day.

Thanks lads for reminding me (and letting me re live), all those wonderful moments.

Fleck belting the goal in at Northampton, Lafferty's rocket that meant that 100 points had been achieved (and fair play to all the Chesterfield fans who clapped and even stayed behind to watch our celebrations after), Billy and CW hugging on the pitch just prior to Billy lifting the trophy.

Our early campaign in the Championship, Leon banging four past Hull for fun, Brookes shutting the locals up in Leeds, and of course, the four goal demolition of the pigs; Fleck's free kick, king Leon showing a clean pair of heels to the woeful SWFC defence, THAT goal from Mark Duffy, plus he ran behind the goal, goaded the pig fans and gave them the "F-Word" for good measure, and then big Leon knocked their defenders around like skittles before chipping their keeper.

Thank you SUFC!

Best part about it, useless clodder Hunt shoves young Brooksey in the back to try and push him off the ball, schoolboy bounces back up, gives him the nutmeg and tees up big Leon, shame that one didn't sail in, that would have been divine justice.

Best moment the whole day at pigsbrough of course
The worst moment the whole day at Burton of course .

Duffy's goal against the pigs.

Pigs had just pulled back to 2-2. I were watching and said "oh, we're not gonna come back from this."

30 seconds later, I was less "get the fuck in" and more convulsing on the floor pissing mesen.

Got to be Duffy's goal in the Derby.

Brooks at leeds was also special and in the spring their were several games when we showed how good a side we were either blowing teams away or not accepting anything other than a win when the team weren't exactly firing. It was the best football I've ever watched at the lane

Northampton without a shadow of doubt. All those years in the wilderness came to an end.

Fleck at the sty, when I was barely in my seat, had me rubbing my eyes in joyous disbelief. Duff, obviously.

A more left field one ? Huge rendition of the Magic Hat, just after kick off at Port Vale, made me smile and smile and smile, and still brings back the warmest of warm memries.

:)

Signing Ched again.

I don't know if this is in jest or not but seeing him come on against Walsall even before he turned the (meaningless) game was stirring.

First half v Reading about 15 minutes of beautiful attacking football, i couldn't believe I was watching United.

Flecks slow motion goal at Northampton, pitch invasion and celebrations at the beamback.

Joyous

What you thinking? Madine own goal hattrick in front of the Kop?

That could do it. Leon hitting 6 against Sunderland would be pretty neat. Of course it could be doom and gloom between now and year end but given it is the Blades then who knows.
