I'm with you, best shirt we've ever had, it's a beautiful design and the old style badge makes it even better. Although I do think it should be our away shirt.

I agree about how good it is as a shirt. I'm wearing it at this very moment.

For a home shirt the stripes could've been thicker, as they were, I think, on the shirt it was based on*. That way they would be visible from the stands.

*Research conducted by seeing a bloke in the car park with a cotton retro shirt.

according to Adidas it took their top designers 3 weeks to get right
they had to build in 7 elements given to them by the club
they were given specific briefs on what was wanted
So a kid on photoshop it is then. In fairness it's not a bad kit but I suppose the manufacturers have to pretend it took an age so it justifies the ridiculous price tag for a bit of plastic cloth made in a sweat shop in Vietnam.

Sorry to come out of my forum retirement so early, but i've been reading and I just can't resist on this one.

This years kit is beyond idiocy. For starters, it's meant to be an anniversary kit. Anybody aware of the reason it's a year late?

It's been done without a single consideration of the history of the club.

If the board genuinely wanted to pay thought to the club's history, they would have respected the fact that 98% of it was played in the red and white stripes. A small piece of text underneath the proper badge on the proper colours would have been more than sufficient. Not an overly dramatised, long running promotional event. Not white shirts, pathetic microscopic stripes, red shorts and red socks.

How they can pass this embarrassment off as some sort of honourable gesture is quite laughable on the basis of the facts.

It's one of the worst Sheffield United shirts I have ever come across, without a shadow of a doubt.

Over reaction? You might think. I'm not entirely bothered, this kit is unacceptable.

This might be a hangover talking but for once I actually agree with a lot of that!

It is just NOT a Sheffield United strip.... Should have been the away kit for this season.

There's obviously a difference between good and bad design though what it is exactly may seem intangible to outsiders.

Istm this boils down to "modern art" and saying a child could've done that.

I watched a great video on good and bad flag design the other day. This stuff can be profoundly important, even though it's generally poorly understood.

I like our home shirt as an anniversary kit but I don't like the shorts. It looks far better in black shorts.
So long as we go back to the usual next year, preferably with black socks then I'm happy!

I am fairly sure that if we were top of the table in excellent form with a solid defence and potent strikeforce this would be a non-thread...............just saying.

It was for the end of the 125 celebrations as has been patiently explained on many many many occasions*.

Marketing? Of course. But marketing that celebrates the history of the club, rather than, say, "rebranding" us as Sheffield Blades FC.

*Maybe even 125 or 126 occasions.
Sorry but the end of 125 celebrations were 2014. Get to March 2015 and we are 126 years old. They got it wrong...wonder what actually happened?

Baxter's wages need paying , along with many more. Oh and don't they deserve them.

Our first season was 1889-1890. Ending 125 years ago. Our first *league* season was 1890-91.

Let's say somehow this is still 126 years, exactly why did the club foist this cheap, shoddy, badly designed, unwanted, and unloved shirt and badge on us hoping no-one could do subtraction.

I'm sorry, but are you honestly trying to say it isn't a year late?

1889-1890. Our first season

1889 + 125 = 2014.
1890 + 125 = 2015

Making it more than clear that 2014-2015 was the anniversary season.

1889 - 1890. Our first season.

1889 + 126 = 2015
1890 + 126 = 2016

Making it more than clear that 2015-2016 is a season too late.

It's ok blindly defending the club at every other opportunity but not when your argument is factually proven to be wrong.

all football is aboiut opinions , even those of people like you with no sense of style
its red and white and striped, but designed by Adidas s top designers to a remit , which they met with flair thought and modern design

haha what a load of bollox........................... IN MY HUMBLE OPINION OF COURSE! :D

I have a sense of style and I think it's absolute rhubarb

Oh and thanks for your second opinion that Rev has no sense of style

Here's another opinion. You don't have any style BLT either :p :D

Jeez, just accept that good, bad or ugly, it's in the eye of the beholder

Makes no fkin difference who designed the fker. Could've been Sondico, or Versace for all I care. Doesn't matter how many designers, what the remit was, or how long it took to design. If in someone's opinion it looks shit, then to them it looks shit

I wouldn't buy or wear that shirt if it was given to me. The green away shirt on the other hand............................quality! :)
