There was a story going around a few years ago that some foreign fans coming over to watch their team play Wales ended up at Wales near Kiveton at least they were only 200 miles away if true
I remember going to watch England at St James Park many years ago. Checking in at the hotel and the people in front of me in the queue were told that the room they’d booked was in the Travelodge (or other chain hotel, I can’t recall) in Newcastle-under-Lyme, and the hotel was full.

It was either Belgians or Dutch about 10 years ago. I think they got interviewed and couldn't understand why Wales wasn't a part of England.

Even funnier were some hilariously funny Scousers ending up at Genk, instead of Ghent. All that European experience eh....

Went to a wedding in Cornwall a few years ago. The brides mum and auntie had made an appointment at the hairdresser for Saturday morning. Unfortunately, it was in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

A few Years ago I was working in Hull on the Friday that we played em on the Saturday, booked the Hull Travelodge for the Friday night, unfortunately it was in Hull,

Similar to a few above, a few of us went to a wedding in Edinburgh, took a mini bus, As we were all boarding the mini bus coming back home on the sunday I asked the driver if he wanted me to input the sat nav for him, Over the weekend we had come to the conclusion he was a bit off a dumpling. He assures me he knows what he is doing, "I am a professional driver you know" We shrugged our shoulders and proceeded to polish off the 2 bottles of Appleton rum that we had procured from the free bar. he then proceeds to input some place in Aberdeen. The immortal words will never be forgotten. "we are here". We are where you XXXX was the reply he got. He had driven nearly 150 miles the wrong way:) The mini bus ride was better then the whole weekend.

In the 80s , we beat chester city at the lane 6-0 if memory serves me right a deane and agana hatrick each .
The away trip to Sealand Road Chestes, old ground it was a night match but like a knob head I went the week before .
Went back the week later .

Stadium of Light, you gotta be joking. Dull soulless vamped up hockey stadium with more empty seats than The Sty.
I have to laugh at this empty seats lark. They averaged 12k more than us last season in a division below. 41k v 29k. If we end up stagnating in championship or worse history tells us we will have more empty seats than lot of em so we need not to be falling in to the trap of attendance delusion

Attendance delusion...couldn't describe what happens over the road from us any better..

Because the sty is ranked 4th !
I think for visiting fans both of the Sheffield football grounds offer a traditional stadium experience.
My Oxford supporting mate enjoying visiting both grounds.

First thing 41K against 30K. Sunderland have historically been one of the great clubs winning the league 6 times, that's 6 times more than us. Start looking then at their catchment area, similar to the Bar Codes. No major clubs within 100+ miles. Always had massive support because of this. but like the BarCodes they were averaging less than 20K in the 1980's and 90's. Even Mackems admit that the stated attendance figures are in most cases nowhere near the actual attendances, just check it out in their televised games. Don't know where the delusion comes from, didn't mention the Blades, you did.

They’re a far bigger club far bigger support far bigger stadium. And don’t get on about them averaging less than 20k in 80s n 90s we’ve done far worse and not so long ago all this premier league support we’ve picked up over the last few years might be tested in the next few years. I agree there’s not been 41k at Sunderland every week. I can also confirm there’s not been 29k at lane every home game either

Deane and Agana did both indeed score hat tricks. Final score though was 6-1.
Less than 9k in attendance.

Don't you understand that with their history they should be getting that support. Our average last season was over 30K in a 32K stadium. Of course we've had crap support but if you don't win the league since queen Victoria was on the throne and no major honour for 100 years and no Cup Final appearance in 90 then what do you expect. Are you sure you're really a Blade if so go on SAFC Forums and ask them. Season tickets go like hot cakes but very rarely do actual crowds hit anywhere near 40K. And something to cheer you up, The Pigs average 1900 more per game than us at home since 1898.

one club cities tend to get bigger gates, if they hava reasonable population not hard to work out

you have to say percentage wise Burnley taking 40k to a play off final is impressie as its half the population of Burnley

Mackems with "Haway the lads" on their stand- cringe.

Imagine if we felt the need to go local and put "gerritforwud" on Kop, or Chansiri politely reminding that lot to "gerrafuckingwesh"...
TBF I'd love that. Pinchyism's on every stand.

'Gerritforrad' on John Street.

'Bringemallback' on Bramall Lane.

'Bladey Blades' on The South Stand.

'Only in S2' on The Kop.

If I ever become a billionaire and buy us I'm making it happen.

Your saying there crowds very rarely hit anywhere near 41k. But ignoring the fact ours don’t get near 30k really. There were 6-7 games last season any fucker in that ground could see there were empty seats galore. And rightly so for the shit we were asked to watch week in week out. Similar story at Sunderland just

Burnley also has a large catchment area. I suspect many Yorkshiremen will support Burnley.
