What a negative lot, Worst ever player thread. To counteract your negative vibes:

Best ever player, well in my time as a Blade Tony Currie by a long way.

Future Blades legend Killa.

Has to be Tony Currie for me too.

Now where is the recent picture of me and TC?

:)

Oh yes, well said BB ;)

Tony Currie will be what most people say but does anyone know Jimmy Hagan? My Grandad always goes on about how good he was and how he is thee Sheffield United great.

Oh and Brian Deane was pretty decent :D

I never did see Jimmy Hagan although I have the book about him.

My grandad played cricket with him on many occasions though.

Brian Deane was indeed a great player for us with the great Tony Agana too!

Never saw TC, but the best footballer I saw pull on the red and white stripes for any reasonable length of time was Glyn Hodges.

"That man's left foot is magic!"

Gordon Cowan's vision was something we hadn't seen (pardon the pun) for a few years too, but he wasn't around long enough to dislodge Hodgy II for me.

Hodgy is now the Reserve Team manager at Man City, by the way.

when i started watching united i thought ALAN WOODWARD was brilliant to watch and T.C. of course...!!!!

Hodgey was indeed a gifted football player.....Foxy saw a great goal from him against Notts County at his first away match.

Cowans was an awesome player in is short term with the Blades.

And Woodward was the best player never to be capped by the full England team!

His wing play, cutting in and strong shooting were beyond compare!

What great memories these players bring!

:)

Mick Jones............... remember when the Blades sold him to weeds to pay leccy bill !

Alan Woodward .... remember the goal he scored from the corner spot against Leicester at Filbert Street around 1970 ? Blades everywhere even on the roof.

memories................................ it makes me happy !

Kieth Edwards

I never saw him play, but his goal record speaks for itself

For me it would also have to be Glynny Hodges, the original Welsh Wizard ;)

brilliant player cud of been a world beater with a different attitude, always good when with bassett, never did it with any other manager at other clubs.i remember leaving bbdl after a home game and he'd had a fall out with klu klux kendall ,i bumped into as he was on his way back to the ground,he'd been on the piss round town.!! derby away one season he didn't bother going back on the team bus, instead he and his mate came back to the bar in derby city centre i managed ,downed a fair few buds, not like hodgie!,about 2/3 hours later i called him a cab for the train station, off he went, and carried on ,on the train!! proper blade!!:drunk:
as for the best player ,TONY CURRIE,by a country mile!!!!!

Good Idea BeightonBlade I was planning to do a best player thread as well before you stole my thunder!! Personally In my time watching the Blades it has to be the lord Michael Brown!

As i was growing up watching the blades the two that stood out was Colin Morris with Keith Edwards, they were my heros :)

Colin Morris was a great winger with bandy legs and a dodgy haircut.

But his crosses with Edwards in the middle was a sure winner!

:):):)
