10-15m for one of your key players in trying to win another £100m for the club is absolute peanuts, especially when you consider the cost of replacing him.
Keeping a player who doesn't wan't to be here is disastrous - see John Lundstram. The article is absolute bollox, Berge may stay, he may go, but my point still stands. If Hecky gets a wiff Berge's hearts not in it then sell, sell, sell.

What are you basing this on?
How much of him have you seen?
He has played 3 full seasons for them and not appeared in EFL Team of the season in either of the 20/21 or 21/22 when these were drawn up.
He was HTFC Player of the year in 2020.
He can't get in a struggling Notts Forest side.
And this isn't just a question for you but for everybody; who can say they have seen enough of O'Brien to make a decent judgement call on him because the stats and his Youtube highlights don't bear it out.
well our own manager seems to rate him he was the replacement for berge if he was sold in january and i rate him highly as well we will agree to disagree on this one all about different opinions isnt it

Would be sad to see Berge go now to be honest for what would be £10m, we're very unlikely to find a like for like replacement for that, or even double that

If you consider only those who are currently playing in England, yes, but that's the test isn't it?

If we had a decent European scouting network we could pick someone up who should be at least equally as effective for Berge for less than that.

Munetsi from Reims would be an exceptional replacement and probably wouldn't cost 10m

He'd be a direct replacement - RCM / AM, rangy ball carrier sort. Just better and more skillful

We don't need a direct replacement though, and we don't need to spend that much

We do need to get Doyle back regardless

Get Doyle on loan, then someone to play to the left of him in a 2 could be Berge's replacement (Field/OBrien)

Equally, an attacker to form a front 3 alongside Ndiaye/McB could be seen as the replacement (Archer/Redmond)

A RCM in a 3 could be seen as the most direct replacement yet be a player with very different strengths (Smallbone)

Replacing him is a flexible task. Take your pick. We could do whatever we want, adapt however we want. It depends how we intend to set up. I'd try to cover every midfield setup option and if we sell Berge in addition to the existing budget we should be able to do that, might just have to sacrifice a new CF

I agree with this too but Rangers weren't going to pay for Lundstram since they had a chance of picking him up for nothing and I doubt anybody else was going to improve his wages (I know there was a lot of nonsense about him wanting European football). When he got to that last year we were over a barrel, personally after the first few lack lustre performances I'd have put anybody in before him. Again who is going to cough up anything for Berge for his occasional performances when they can have him as a freebie in a year? The more I think about this, it could be United trying to sell him and hoping they have somebody as good in the wings but the only person I can name is Choudary (wages). Maybe the scouts got about.

Think people are getting carried away a bit here and we should just wait and see what happens.

The prince has said he doesn’t want to lose any of our star players

Hecky has spoken several times about how professional Sander is. He’s said he’s happy in Sheffield and not once expressed a desire to leave. Sander himself said he wanted to play against Wrexham even with premier league clubs sniffing around him at the time.

Last summer it was reported he’d actually been sold, every transfer window since he joined there has been speculation and the vast majority of it is just re-hashed shite originating from a few unreliable sources.

A few reports are saying Hecky has asked the board to offer N’Diaye a new deal, I’d be amazed if they didn’t have a similar conversation with Sander before making any sort of decision.

Apart from being a bit skint I don’t think the clubs leadership team has done a bad job of being pretty honest and making decisions based on the clubs best interests.

Personally I like him as a player and don’t want him to leave, especially for free but I feel relaxed that the club will do what they think is best.

Shouldn’t let facts get in the way of some self flagellation though.

We get to Wembley for a cup semi final - “well I’m not fucking gooin”

We get promoted “that were a wank promotion season, dunt feel t’same”

Summer transfer window opens “no ambition, we’ll just sell our best players like we always do” (despite having only sold one 1st teamer in about 8 years.

Somebody appears on Facebook in an obvious knock off kit they bought on holiday “fucking rubbish Yooonited, it’s a disgrace”

Sell all our season tickets “ticket office are fucking clueless, we are putting people off attending”

It’s amazing that this is supposedly a hobby for some people.

Glad im not the only one to notice
Its demoralising reading this site hardly a positive post in a season when weve had a group of lads and coaching staff leave it all out there for us the most ungrateful miserable undeserving bunch of fannies to ever support a football team

His form the last part of the season when partnered with Doyle was superb ,you saw the real sander berge
Superb ? Words like that and Legend are to easily applied these days sadly. Better might be the word your looking for and after his below performances for two thirds of the season that's what he was better .

Well in a promotion season to the top flight I'll bandy about superb ,

To read those selling rumours got me kinda exited, but is 10M bit lowish for rated key player in Prem team, even one that's promoted?

I disagree, post Luton at home he was superb. Certainly as good as you can expect from a Championship midfielder playing that kind of role.

His influence on the game is a lot more subtle than people expect for a 6 foot 4 £25m player because that’s just his game. Doesn’t mean he’s not effective.

I would suggest to all Blades that you go out and enjoy your summer. Holiday maybe, bit of Cricket perhaps, Fishing, Golf or Barbecues in the garden. Anything but listen to the irksome drip, drip of media shite that surrounds new club just entering the Premier league. But even though we’re struggling to find a buyer for the club and essentially haven’t got a pot to piss in, we’re still being linked with a constant stream of unrealistic if not plain stupid signings. Also the world and his wife are eagerly trying sell off our biggest assets in N’Diaye and Berge, while telling us we have no chance of staying up.
Well, listening to all the speculation about potential new ownership, player recruitment and departures is really getting me down. So whoever’s in the team against CPFC will get my full support. Until then…see you at the lane in August.

All I can say if you didn’t enjoy last season and wasn’t pleased with the outcome stop watching The Blades.
Just enjoy the ride

Again, the overuse of superlatives to describe performances that were riddled with inconsistancies negates your point.
Illy was superb. Berge was largely average with some high points. I'm enjoying a cup of tea. Superb? Save the superlatives for superb achievements.

I would have thought keeping our best players gives us the chance to stay up our best players are Ndiaye, Berge, Anel, and Egan. in my opinion. if we can get either Doyle Mcatee by buying one and loaning the other and loaning or buying quality players. we have a chance. sell any of our best players. let's see what happens and if it does not work out by all means sell them. but don't sell until the January transfer window. With a bit of luck, we might get taken over by a new buyer who has the dosh and is ready to spend it.

Ideal scenario...

Ndiaye and Berge intend to wait until January to decide on their future.

New owners come in this September and offer them new contracts that they can't refuse. 😊

Isn’t there a big difference between Ndiaye and Berge. Apart from height and playing style. While neither player has agitated for a move, it is well known that Ndiaye hopes for a move to his dream club? Despite a shit stirring media, Berge has gone about his business as a Blades player in a quiet but confident manner.
Both want to play at the top level in the EPL, but only one of them has let it be known that he has aspirations to play for a certain club?

Both will have been sounded out by SUFC regarding new contracts, but they prefer to retain current choices.

The best we can hope for is to see them in the EPL as Blades until January, in the hope that leads to a bidding war, so they don’t leave on a free at the end of the season.

Stay or go will come down to personal choice. Whatever happens, GLTTLs.

They’ll do whatever is best for them. What’s sets them out is until they leave they have such a great attitude they will give everything for the club… and that’s rare these days.

Both great lads, but Berge is different class mentally, great player and attitude.

love them both… I just hope we get another season out of them as blades.

Unfortunately there won’t be a bidding war in January in that scenario at least not a bidding war in terms of fees they can sign pre contract agreements for free in January.

Both will be able to sign a pre contract for the following season with a non English team in January.
