Ok, I'll start. Berge, not very good at all today. Substituted, and replaced by the man who he's supposed to eject from the team, said man who then goes on to score the winner.
Mmmm... big decision next week Chris.
Must say, early days I know, he he looks more like a £2m rather than a £22m player at the moment.
This is not meant to be a big knock at the guy, but not impressed today at all.
Ludicrous post. He made a bad mistake for their goal. He could then have hidden but he didn’t and showed some quality going forward. Clearly not at his best but to say he looks more like a £2m player is pig fan-esque.

I didn't realise we had a midfield in the first half, none of the three were any good, didn't look for the ball off our defenders and looked static, better second half of course and I realise I shouldn't have a dig at our midfielders but first half I thought the three of em were poor.

So he was good then ?
Eh?
Just by not being "very good" does not automatically qualify you to being good?
What happened to, could do better, shows promise, could one day be good, and then who knows, very good?
How hard is this for you?

You tell me was he good ?
Shit ?
Shows promise ?
Because you appeared to say he looks like a 2 million pound player and then backtracked

So lets hear it

new position for Berge, more Norwoods position (holding cm) at Genk and Norway, said in an interview it's about adapting to new demands. CW wants him box to box, might take som time to adjust, I'm a bit surprised he's been straight in the starting XI, must have great faith in him. CW watched him last october for Norway in Stockholm vs Sweden. AK travelled south to watch him i champ.league. Berge himself said he signed for us due to CW ideas and management.

You know exactly how ‘not very good at all’ reads and how it’s interpreted by 99% of people, stop purposely being a clown.

You’re just back tracking because everyone’s pulled you up on what you spewed... sorry... said earlier.

No, he wasn't "very good".
Very good, being by definition, "above average, excelling towards excellence" according to my dictionary.
So yes,
really.
Wow yeah he made a mistake but do you not see the quality in him? I liked the bit where 3 players were hacking at him but he kept the ball and laid the pass off, if that had been one of their players they would have been rolling on the floor. Fleck had a shot that was blocked in the first half when a simple square ball would have played Berge in he got in a position just like Lundstram did for his goal. Very harsh to moan at him for the one mistake that led to their goal when he is still finding his feet at a new club, a higher standard league and a new country. Not taking anything away from Lunny fantastic finish that Aguero would have been proud of but he made a few poor passes even if they didn't lead to the other team scoring. Same again next game for me but I'm not convinced Berge is here to play on the right of midfield, hard choices and plenty of options for Wilder with Besic in the background too.

Berge is being broken in slowly for the Norwood roll.

it will start with Berge getting a bit/lot fitter and then finishing a game with Norwood off and Berge dropping into the middle - to close down what hopefully are winning positions.

Berge doesn't seem box to box - unless he gets lots and lots fitter.

UTB

Apparantly he was the one who'd run the longest distance when he went off at Palace and it was the same again at half time today. So I think his fitness and work rate is good, but he's got to get used to the new position, new team mates, our style, the higher tempo and pressing in England.

Start both. Drop Norwood (adjusts tin hat).

Berge is a the Norwood type player he’s playing out of position IMO he isn’t athletic enough or fast enough to play as lunny.

Yes we didn’t sign lunny for 20million but if we sold him Tommorow teams would be paying that IMO

There was a bit early on where Berge and Baldock seemed confused as to who should be going wide to the player with the ball, and who should be covering the man in the channel. Both of them gestured for the other to go wide.

That's the sort of thing that will get better the longer Berge plays on the first team. Once he gets his positioning and responsibilities sorted he'll be some force.

On the ball, Lundstram actually wasn't too hot today until the goal. But he works so well in this team and knows exactly when and how to break into the box, which has been a huge boon for us this season.

What a decision for wilder, Berge needs game time and to get used to our unique system, but after an error in the build up to there goal, showed real quality. But lunny after a few weeks of below performances led to being dropped, but 2 impressive sub appearances, show hes really integral to our system , so who would you choose, id go same start as today and lunny after 60 min

Berger.

Berge.

Lundstram is fitter and more familiar with our system, doesn’t mean he’s a better player.

Only way we’ll find out how good Berge is, is to give him game time.

Also, I think it works really well bringing Lunny and Moose on against tiring opposition.

I think we looked a lot more dangerous down the right with Lundstram on today, there was more urgency and played some good triangles with the usual suspects (Norwood also chipping in later in the game).

Berge looks like he’s got some great feet and is very calm on the ball, 1 key exception today of course.

Hard one for Wilder.

They're different moulds of the same player for me. One (Berge) composed and relaxed on the ball and looks for short pass but can occasionally beat a man or two using his upper body strength and height. The other (Lundstram) is abit more searching, loves an adventure does Lunny, gets far more forward and plays at a higher tempo but can give it away.

Tough one but Berge for me as we haven't seen him fully Prem charged yet.

See what Berge looks like after a week of training during the break.

Lundstram was better against Palace than he was today (goal aside) in my opinion, definitely making life difficult for Wilder though that's for sure.

They're very different at the moment, Lundstram is like a pitbull, he'll go after you and you'll know about it, he's good in front of goal, and he knows our system back to front and inside out.

Berge doesn't, and glides rather than rampages, but his passing is outstanding (apart from that one) and his shielding of the ball and strength is top notch. He also got in some good positions today in the box, so he's learnjng.

When he does know our system I think he'll be able to do more of what Lunny does, and if Lunny inherits some of Berge's composure then we'll have a couple of fantastic mids, hopefully Lunny signs that contract in the break.

Think Lunny has been brilliant this season, other than the well documented drop off around the Xmas period. Berge has shown glimpses of what's on the horizon, assuming he finds some consistence, acclimatises to the pace of the league and perhaps most importantly, settles into our system.

2 things: When pressed re: contract in the interview above, I found it a little jarring how impartial and clinical Lunny was when referring to us as 'it's a club on the up'. Just for a moment, it seemed like the squad togetherness and camaraderie mask slipped and he was looking at things from a purely selfish point of view. This brings me onto the 2nd point, we were better with him on the pitch today and v's Palace. I'd love to see JL and Berge in the same team, but I can't see how it'll work. If Berge is to replace Norwood, who plays the Quarterback and pings the ball? As far as I know, Berge's passing game, while very good, is about short-medium distance passing not the long sumptuous balls we've seen from Norwood. Also, I've seen mentioned that Berge will, when he replaces Norwood, become the teams CDM and this feels at odds with the eye test thus far. For me, the part of his game that looks the weakest (yes it's only been 2 hours of football so far) is his defensive work. It the final third and out on the right, hugging the touchline, he looks brilliant at making his own pocket of space to make a pass, but in and around our box, he looks a bit shakey. I suspect a large part of that is that he still isn't 100% on his positioning in our system and once he becomes accustomed to where he needs to be and when, this part of his game will improve to match the other parts.

Bottom line is, I don't think there's room for both in the team, at the same time. Lunny looks to be back to his best and should start, give us the best chance at going in front in the 'easier' games (no games are easy, but you know what I mean) to come , then if we're on top, bring Berge on for the last 30 mins and look to give him game time.

tin hat time. Lundstram was generally poor and also gave away the ball loads before his goal... If Berge scored we’d be lauding him and his rightful place over lunny in the squad. Lundstram did do well for the goal though. Solid 6.5/10

Think Lunny has the face on about not being picked a bit, which is fair enough and he's playing it cool having got a winner, in a "cool guys don't look at explosions" sort of way.

I think he's always like this in interviews though to be honest, doesn't get carried away.

Lunny looked better because he had the energy he had been lacking since earlier in the season. Great off the bench, keep him there and let Berge get used to the system.

New country, new system and let's face it the weather was rubbish which played a part in the game today.

First half not many of them were pulling up any trees with their performances simple passing and ball control was dire for most of that half at least.

I'd start him next week.

Berge showed class on the ball (one obvious error apart) - particularly in his unwillingness to play a hopeful ball or knock it into space: every pass seemed to be to feet to someone in a good position. And if that pass wasn’t on, he used his obvious strength to hold onto the ball until it was on.
I agree our shape without the ball doesn’t look as solid when he’s on, and I think he’s too content to just stand a few feet away from an opponent who’s got the ball which is giving them just a little more time and space than Baldock or Lunny gives them.
He’s clearly a very good player though. I’d keep starting him just based on two starts - two wins.

Coutts was very much like that.

Berge is still adapting to our shape and the intensity of the Premier League which is why Wilder is just giving him 60 minutes per match so far.

I think it’s benefiting Lunny’s new box to box style play to come on when the game’s a little more stretched. He needs to be patient and take his opportunities when they come. So far he’s done this well and will be giving Wilder a (nice) selection headache.
Longer term, with Europe now a realistic possibility, I can see us needing to rotate the squad more frequently...so it will be in Lunny’s interest to sit tight and keep performing when the opportunities arise.
I also expect Berge to fill the Norwood role from time to time next year after he’s completed a full pre-season and got up to speed.
Also, don’t be surprised if we move away from our current system next year. We need a better system against the stronger teams and our current formation won’t have the same level of surprise as we’ve enjoyed this season

Berge's composure is something weve been lacking for a couple of months really and will be a real asset.

Just need to translate it into our system a bit better, he is clearly norwoods (eventual) replacement to me.

Berge was poor today and me and me lad weren't impressed. Then again, hes a signing for the future I guess.

never rated lunny before this season, but he has been outstanding. Brilliant goal today. I think Berge needs to be dropped after that.
