Berge or Lunny v Brighton

What a decision for wilder, Berge needs game time and to get used to our unique system, but after an error in the build up to there goal, showed real quality. But lunny after a few weeks of below performances led to being dropped, but 2 impressive sub appearances, show hes really integral to our system , so who would you choose, id go same start as today and lunny after 60 min
 



Ok, I'll start. Berge, not very good at all today. Substituted, and replaced by the man who he's supposed to eject from the team, said man who then goes on to score the winner.
Mmmm... big decision next week Chris.
Must say, early days I know, he he looks more like a £2m rather than a £22m player at the moment.
This is not meant to be a big knock at the guy, but not impressed today at all.
 
Glad I’m not the manager, Berge really upped his game after a slow start. But Lunny has been amazing last 2 appearances. Did anyone notice how everyone went over to lunny when he scored, I mean more than usual before anyone says anything haha. I thought Basham and especially Baldock were outstanding today.
 
Lunny took that personal.
Not in a negative way, or at least he used it in the right one, but when he scored you could see how much being dropped had fired him up.
 
With Berge it is the fitness, and learning the role, not the quality. He has to get not just into Premiership shape, but Blades shape. But he looks great on the ball. I can imagine what a beast he would be after a pre-season. I would probably give him another game, 2 wins in the row, showed more confidence as the game went on today.. But absolutely no problem with Lundtsram coming in, few players are going to the the ground running in our midfield.

Berge is being broken in slowly for the Norwood roll.

it will start with Berge getting a bit/lot fitter and then finishing a game with Norwood off and Berge dropping into the middle - to close down what hopefully are winning positions.

Berge doesn't seem box to box - unless he gets lots and lots fitter.

too early for Berge to start really, but saying that, we have won both games so what do I know!

Christ alive.

He’s played 2 games in the Premier League, had one full week of training, and is adjusting from life in the Belgian first to the best and most frantic league in the world.

It’s a new league, country, system, teammates.

The team hardly picked up the slack first half hour did they? They were crap. He got better as the team got better - shock.

May I reiterate my earlier thoughts? Christ alive.

Wow, you're going massively over the top there. He made a glaring error for there goal but was much better after, strong in the tackle and the air and composed. One bit he took a reyt clattering off a couple of players but managed to retain ball and find a pass. Lunny scored the winner on the other hand so he will take the plaudits but he actually had some seriously crap touches/ wayward passes before that.

I would like to see both play together tbh, how that can happen and what formation it would involve I ain't got a scooby do.
 
Berge, error apart, looked tidy on the ball and you saw signs later on of him driving with the ball. But I think his positioning on and off the ball is the issue currently. When he releases the ball on the right he’s not really making the sorts of movement to help build an overload. Similarly I think Baldock has been a bit exposed both of Berge’s game by Berge probably not yet clear on where he should be defensively. It seems a different role he’s being asked to do from what he’s done previously. It will take time to get used to it. Had he stayed on I don’t think he’d have been in the position Lundstram took up to score the winner.

Also, that moment earlyish in second half when we were breaking forward, and Berge got clattered into by Bournmouth man, 99% of footballers - especially Premiership ones - would have gone flying to the floor but our Sander stumbled, and stumbled again but somehow regained his balance and kept the move going - I liked that a lot, not just looking for the ref's whistle.

That said, i'd start the Stramster if it was me choosing the players' nicknames.
 
Lundstram has earnt the shirt. He's been much better than Berge when he comes on.

Getting dropped and having to battle will do Berge good. He looks like he needs to roll his sleeves up more!

What is it meant to be then? Because it reads like someone who can't wait to (inexplicably) stick the boot in.

They'll both be in the team next year if Lunny signs a new contract.

If I was Ollie I'd be looking over my shoulder.
 



Berge showed class on the ball (one obvious error apart) - particularly in his unwillingness to play a hopeful ball or knock it into space: every pass seemed to be to feet to someone in a good position. And if that pass wasn’t on, he used his obvious strength to hold onto the ball until it was on.
I agree our shape without the ball doesn’t look as solid when he’s on, and I think he’s too content to just stand a few feet away from an opponent who’s got the ball which is giving them just a little more time and space than Baldock or Lunny gives them.
He’s clearly a very good player though. I’d keep starting him just based on two starts - two wins.
