So if we morph into Hull and what they achieved under Selles...we should be gratefull next season.

Ok i will call my doctor and ask for some of them tablets that the pigs take to keep them smiling even when they are shit.

If we get the improvement in league position that he achieved at Hull in his half season we will be automatically promoted.

Here’s the real use of ChatGPT. As much as I’m sure Benjamin Bloom is a lovely fella, his videos don’t half drag on…

So here’s the summary:

🎯 Context & Theme
  • The video explores whether Sheffield United’s incoming manager Rubén Selles represents a genuine step up from their former boss, Chris Wilder.
  • With fresh backing from new ownership, the club is making a bold move at the dugout — a “big managerial gamble.”
🔍 Key Points Covered
  1. Tactical Shift
    • Selles brings a modern, possession-driven style, a distinct contrast to Wilder’s more traditional, physical “Wilderball.”
    • Emphasis on building from the back.
  2. Profile of Selles
    • Review of his coaching credentials and philosophy.
    • Strengths: Tactical intelligence, adaptability, youth development.
  3. Risks & Unknowns
    • Concerns include lack of Premier League experience, potential clash when transitioning from the Championship to top-tier expectations.
  4. Club Outlook
    • Analysis of what United’s board likely sees: longevity, progression, and long-term identity.
    • Potential positives: fresh ideas, improved playing style.
    • Potential downsides: results in the short term, adaptability under pressure.
  5. Comparison Summary
    • Wilder: Proven leader, direct tactics, strong connections with fans.
    • Selles: Progressive thinker, technical coach, but still untested at this level.
✅ Final Verdict
  • It’s a high-stakes move that could bring renewed optimism and a modern footballing identity — if Selles can quickly adapt and deliver results.

It's disappointing that someone as good as Bloom still uses the lazy SUFC stereotype about Wilder having direct tactics. We were far from that last season - in fact so far from that not being direct enough became a valid criticism of us.

Yeah it seems a weird thing to say. We built from the back and fannied around with it a lot would be a better description of wilderball 2.0

We didn't really build from the back though did we
We never really committed to it
We tended to pass it around the back two and the keeper then launch it
Only time we really played through the lines was when arblaster was picking it up on the half turn early doors and when choudury came in and kept picking out hamer through the lines
None of our defenders were comfortable enough to take the risks necessary to break a high press and we often needed Cooper to play longer pases which he is a bit hit and miss with ,which is a shame as his he is pretty good with his feet but hes not ruud gullit

Games where we were very good last season, boro at home, cov at home, Blackburn away.
The championship is more than acceptable to us for the levels our players are capable of.
Are we better than the Championship?, obviously not.
Would we improve on what we have under another season with CW?, dunno.
What we didn't have last season was the cutting edge to kill teams off when we were 1 nil up, that to me was the most frustrating watch.
Give Ruben a chance, we've got to, or we may aswell all chuck the towel in.
UTB.

I'd have to agree. You're hardly direct when all you is make meaningless safety first backwards passes to "keep possession."

He's still very high on Wilder for some reason. He ranked Wilder best manager in the entire division at the end of last season IIRC.

Well so am I, overall. But it's not an accurate description of his approach of late.
Bloom was also very complimentary about our ability to win close games. Which makes sense to a degree, but I'm sceptical he's actually seen many of them.

A lot of neutrals will only look at the final scores and final league table and respond based on that. They won't have seen the 40 out of 46 matches where we were not the better team and ground out results, shutting up shop when we go ahead. They'll see Hamer on the score sheet or assists and immediately assume he ran the game from start to finish, which is far from the truth. They might have watched the two play off semis, where we did play well, look back at our results and the league table and assume we got them and finished there playing like that all season, which we didn't.

Unless they watch a lot of our games their opinion, and it is just an opinion, is based on assumption by filling in the gaps for themselves. I like Benjamin Bloom and respect his neutrality, however, he is very slightly Chris Wilder biased due to attending a lot games when he was at his peak prior to getting promoted to the Premier League.

I think that teams played cautious against us last season on first half season, then when they realised we were not as good as thought/ analysed many games ,they went for us second half season and exposed our flaws . A bit like. Second season syndrome in Prem , it was second half season syndrome in championship and that would have continued. Now we will have a new style they will have a new style they will have to work out.
