How many times on here have I read we should be looking for young hungry loans from the top teams? Now we seem to have done so people are moaning he isn’t ours, he’s too young yadda yadda yadda. Jesus we are a schizophrenic fan base o_O
We should be looking for young hungry loans from top teams to play with our best players and game changers, I agree but not use them to replace your best players and game changers, I’m not overly keen on that strategy. Call me schizophrenic or whatever you want but it’s a completely relevant debate and one I could discuss graciously without the daft bollocks. :)

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't we light in that department with Heneghan off on loan? If JOC gets injured aren't we a bit buggered for LCB?

JOC is no longer our concern . 14 million is the bid . He's gone . To BHA .

Any lower league Prem team could take Woodburn, the fact none of them are even interested tells it’s own story regards who out of him and Brooks are currently the best.

Any prem club could loan him and that’s my argument regards the two of them.

Lower end PL clubs haven't loaned him because Liverpool wouldn't allow it .

In his last interview Chris Wilder said he was taking the lads on a trip to Woodburn Abbey but then corrected himself to Woburn Abbey.
A slip of the tongue maybe about who United were signing? Well lets have a look at the rest of what he said. He keeps talking about getting players over the line and that almost rhymes with madine, (audience groans) ...that's right you've signed a bin full of shit for 10 million quid.

That’s almost definitely incorrect. If a Prem team thought he was good enough to play him they’d promise Liverpool this, pay all his wages and Liverpool would just make sure he couldn’t play against his parent club.

How many times has that exact scenario played out in the PL in the last 5 years ?

Woodburn isn’t or never will be our player for the £12m Brooks has gone for.

Nor is he better than Brooks imho, even though he’s a great player.

If Woodburn was better he’d be playing games for a Premier league club next season like Brooks will be.

Wilder is still brilliant though. :)

Woodburn is ahead of Brooks for the national team.

Not sure and can’t be arsed to look but it’s surely happened?

I'm not sure that it has to be honest . But if it has, and I'm not saying it hasn't, it's as rare as rocking horse shit . Loans between PL clubs just don't happen in that manner . Hence the reason your comparison between Brooks and Woodburn isn't really accurate .

So far the only “game changer” we’ve sold is Brooks and let’s be honest he wasn’t the finished article either so the jury is still out about how good he will be and yes I would say the same if he was still here.
The fact that Liverpool have chosen us shows how our profile has risen and if we can assist Woodburn’s development then maybe we become a good deal for young hungry players coming on a permanent in years to come.
The point is I’ve read since Brooks went how we needed to get a replacement and it seems we have albeit yes I agree on loan and yet people are still finding fault with the deal.
As a fan base at times we aren’t glass half full or half empty more what fucking glass?

Flanagan at Burnley from Liverpool, Abraham at Swansea from Chelsea, Ake at Bournemouth from Chelsea, Loftus-Cheek at Palace.

And in relative terms that accounts for what ? 2 percent of all loans made from PL clubs ? Lower ??

Incidentally, were these players allowed to play against the club's that owned them ?

Maybe!

My point all along is how can Woodburn at this moment in time be better than Brooks? He quite simply can’t be.

I can't believe we've sold JOC for 38 million

Your not playing the game Jehovah, you can't go from £19 to £38m in one jump. You've got to add I bit of humour, a joke or a video to slow the process down until we hear something letter tonight (the groundsman did say double signing today dint he?). Here's an random example about 'Jehovah'.......

To be fair mate I didn't really rate Brooks at all when he was with us so all in all im being a little bit unfair on him in all this . What I do know however is that the bits I have seen of Woodburn are enough to convince me that currently he's a better player . He looks stronger, fitter, more direct and has a really good eye for goal . There is one thing I'd rate Brooks more highly on though and thats trickery . Brooks was hard for defenders to read . Aside from that though I'm very happy with how this has/will turn out .

Nothing wrong with that, fair enough.

He quite simply can be. He is knocking on the door of the Liverpool first team, supported by the fact that he was a substitute in many of their games. I think he has started more Wales games than Brooks.
Reading their forum, he has suffered with injuries and growth spurts early last season but has had a good pre season and he now needs games.
Weren’t Bournemouth planning on loaning Brooks back to a Championship club?
Would have loved to have seen them both together but feel we wouldn’t have got Woodburn if we had kept Brooks

Forget about the comparison for a while and let me say this, I’ve seen Woodburn play and rate him very highly, let’s hope he proves to be a great addition, which there should be no reason why he can’t be.

It’s not the deal itself I have a problem with as I’m excited to see him but it’s the fact we’ve replaced a very good player and unbelievable prospect with a loan. I’m hoping you can see why I think this.

How do you work that out ? Woodburn is not ready for Liverpool's 1st team and Brooks wouldn't be either he has only gone to Bournemouth as there were no other takers and they are hoping to get a star on the cheap. You can bet your life if Liverpool decided to sell Woodburn he would be sold for more than £12m.

We’ve replaced him with a loan + £12m

Fair enough, football is all about debates. Should Brooks have stayed at least another season? Yes I think so. Could/should we have stopped him leaving? That’s a 200 page thread in itself. Time will tell with Woodburn but my Liverpool supporting mates rate him so I’m hopeful this will be a good deal

It’s purely a financial decision....
