Just watch C5 footy, Ben scored again for Mansfield yesterday with a 'precise finish'. Will he figure for us next year I wonder or back out on loan.

Back out on loan for me. Not good enough to play in Pub League Premier.

I don't see what's wrong with having him back. You can't loan them forever and he could be an energetic option from the bench to bring into midfield . We've got very good midfielders, but not that much depth

Won't get game time with us just yet.

I'm a firm believer in young lads playing every week, whatever the level is.
If we could get him half a season in league one and see how he does then great. If he's playing every week there, let him finish the season and re-evaluate him for the 18/19 season.
If not in the side then find him game time elsewhere

As with EEL there seems to be a trend for season long loans which can/will be reviewed at Christmas. Would be perfect I understand people wanting him back to have a crack at the team but he will find it hard to break in and needs games. As mentioned if they are interested Rotherham or even Donny could be very good options

I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a regular for us next season.

Pre season will determine whether he goes out on loan again or not.

Another nice goal from him.

Seems he's really progressed so will be interesting to see what Wilder does with him in pre-season.

3 minutes 10 of 'highlights'
Some weren't even half chances and not worthy of the air time if you ask me.
Compare that to loads of the great stuff we played this season that never made it to air and I can't help wondering whether there is still substantial press bias against us.

Not much other football on yesterday. But don't worry, I'm sure they are all out to get us. :)

He's scored regularly out on loan and has been getting some good reviews. Been an excellent move so far for all concerned.

Would like to see him in and around the sequester next year and if that bit happening get him out on loan on league 1 and see how he does

He seems to be involved with everything going forward for Mansfield based on those clips. I always thought he was more of a defensive minded player, but from looking at that, maybe he will be a long term replacement for the Duffy role?

Agree with Kenilworth though... Needs to borrow Jack's magic hat.

I think Whiteman is more comparable to Connor Coady than Duffy. He arrives from deep rather linking up play high up the field.

That's something that will probably work in his favour next season as we won't be dominating teams as much and will have to hit on the break more. I think he's a chance of playing a part for us on that basis.

I'd loan him out again, with a view of recalling him if necessary. It'd be good for him to continue his momentum and get proper game time.

It's a real dilemma with the likes of Whiteman and Brooks .

Does Wilder throw caution to the wind and select them for the first team squad ? Or does he farm them out on loan ?

At what point does he make a decision on their futures ? Can he make an accurate assessment upon their futures at our club if they are out on loan ? Or will we see them given a chance in the Championship ?

Brooks going out on a season long loan looks the best option for him right now . Whilst Whiteman should be on our bench next season with a view to giving him a bit of game time in the championship . Decisions need to be made soon though in everyone's interest .

Does the new ruling on at least one academy player being on the bench come into force next season ? And if it does , would George Long being on the bench satisfy the criteria ?

Just want to thank you for letting us have Ben for the season been amazing to see him develop into a top player. I know he still has a way to go but got yourself a good young prospect. Wish him all the best.
could tell in the few games he had last year that he had potential he just needed to be playing around good players and getting regular game time glad he's had a good season

Loan him to Mansfield on a season long loan next season.

If it proves these last 4 months are not a flash in the pan, then he should be well ready the season after for us.

Nah he has proven he's too good for league 2 needs to be playing at league 1 level. Going back to Mansfield would be of no benefit to us.

Can accept that - what we do know is he will be first on the team sheet at Mansfield with the fat boy in charge, and we need Whiteman to play regularly.

No guarantee a L1 club would play him.

The kid needs games, as does Reed next season.

Totally agree, he's looked pretty good when he's played and is now 12/18 months older. I'd have him back for preseason and see what he looks like before deciding

Well as Calvert Lewin has shown, none of us thought he was ready for the Premiership and he's doing ok at Everton.

That said the responses to his performance yesterday aren't so hot!!

The Checkertrade.com stadium! Playing in the Checkertrade trophy is bad enough but having your stadium named after them is even worse! So pleased we won't be visiting stadiums like that next season! Other than Burton!

As for the OP! Whiteman's goal was quality, but he has so much more time and space than he'd get in our league. A further loan spell till Christmas, preferably in League One would be good to assess how near he will be too our team.

Tough call because of the uncertainty of how any of the players will cope with the Championship and throwing in our young players at the deep end would be a risk. But then bringing in 'young guns' on loan from the Premiership while loaning out ours does not reflect well on - or motivates - our academy players.
