Smalbone looked class

While he'd certainly add some much needed aggression to Utd's midfield, Pearson would be a liability in the Prem considering his disciplinary record - even last season with Stoke he got 6 yellows and a red in only 14 appearances.

Wouldn't say no to Pearson. Would be a good one for the championship, could rely on him staying. Maybe go for him if we can't get Doyle and are scraping the barrel a bit

That's shit. I thought we may have been in for him.

Stoke should do well this season.

Me too.
They finished the season very strongly, their midfield seemed to really dominate in a lot of games.
If we were interested in him then he would have signed for us instead of Stoke.

He isnt good enough in the PL, even Luton arent interested.

You want us to sign everybody!
Only those who’ve gone elsewhere. The ones were are signing are rubbish.

I called Stoke as dark horses at the end of last season. Having an owner writing off £20m each season and easily being able to continue in doing so certainly helps, but they’ve got a decent core now that they’re building on. That said it’s still a huge challenge to get past Leicester or Southampton unless one of them implodes.

Our midfield isn't PL level.
I think Pearson would've added to our options and been a good guy to have around next season too (assuming we're probably going to be in the Championship).

As for wanting to sign everybody...
Not really. But players like Pearson who have shown they're top end Championship players would likely be good additions for us in the medium term. Lewis O'Brien, Ryan Manning, Keinan Davis etc. included.

I'd like us to sign some players with next season in mind too, given we won't have much of a squad left.

I've not described anybody we're signing (there's only 1 strong rumour so far) as rubbish.

My thoughts on Slimane... seems a good price and looks to have a bit about him.
Worried if we're relying on him to make an impact in our first XI next season given he's struggled to be a regular in a middling Danish side.

He has zero resale value at his age and once they’ve had a bit of use out of him.

It’s very much not the United World Way.

Slimani is perfect.

22, plenty of room for growth, last year of his contract so cheap to bring in and already an established international so no issue coming in or being sold on to someone further up the food chain.

I’d expect much like this.

As much as I don't think Pearson is Prem quality, I would prefer to have him (or a player in the same style) than the professional rondo middle / headless chicken that is Ben Osborn. I wouldn't expect there to be much difference in their respective salaries.

Pearson is better than Osborn but that is a very low bar.

Slimane might be "perfect" in terms of the UW model but let's not pretend they have any track record of success with that model...

M I don't believe he was picked up by clever UW scouting.

He played under Jack Lester in the Forest junior teams. He referenced this a lot in his interviews when he joined.
Im sure we'd just sign a player for 4 mil in our financial predicament because jack lester says hes good

slimane doyle and obrien would do for me but cant see all 3 of em arriving at the lane

Unfortunately I called Stoke at the start of last season and lost my money

I read somewhere in this thread that Brondby's manager and Slimane had a falling out last season?
