Outgoing? Ben Heneghan

Jake Wright was 33 (I think) when we signed him and he to turn into Jake “the unbeatable” Wright under Wilder. If anything, Heneghan only been 24 only strengthens the argument.

Wilder and Knill see potential in players. Obviously they are not going to get it right 100% of the time, but thats football.

I personally believe they will get a lot more “hits” than “misses”. Have some faith. They have earned it.

Jake Wright isn't even 33 now.

He's not only become a better player, he's getting younger every year, he's shed 2 years since we signed him!

The man is a miracle.

And Heneghan is outperforming Vardy at the same stage of his career but the transfer window is open and the whiners have re-emerged.

Poor lad. Must have had a tough paper round.

Also i’m sorry! I should have put “(I think)” after his age because I was unsure ;)

Note to self: in future google a players age so I can act like a fucking Wikipedia of Sheffield United.
Don't worry, just called you out before someone else probably would've;)

We shouldn’t bother with ones for the future.

Thomas and him have been a waste of cash we could have used on first team

We bought a league two player for league two player cash
But why does that mean that the player doesn't possess skill, ability and quality that will be acceptable in the Championship or higher?
Especially after coaching from CW/AK.

Or do you only ever eat ready-meals?;)

Should we have signed him?

I'd rather he went to Rotherham.

He had 10 years at Manchester City's acadmey before we picked him up so I disagree. Either way, its brilliant thats Brooks is here with us now.

If someone had 10 years in the local Sunday league and wasn't signed until they were 16 would they not be one of ours? I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be saying that he's not one of ours he's a Sheffield Rangers youth player.

The things is for players like whiteman and Heneghan is that they are both he victims of our relative success.

There are likely to be a few more, like Thomas on loan, lavary maybe even Evans depending on who becomes available

Funny that I’m “pretty sure” I said jagz was one of ours, even though he was picked up at the age of 15, obviously he kicked a ball for other clubs before us but, in my opinion, we moulded him...

In my opinion, City take the credit for moulding Brooks (for 10 years!)

Opinions eh!?

As a side note I do actually class DCL as a product of Handsworth boys (insert fishing rod emoji) ;)

Wouldn't rush into loaning Heneghan out just yet ...until Leonard settles in ....not in love with Wright as back up ...with an eye on today and the future I would rather loan Wright out and show Heneghan we fancy him ...long term ..ps ..Ched out on loan for a month is a top idea...I would even loan him to league 2 for a month ...to get himself going

But we can't loan him just for a month, if he goes out on loan it has to be until the end of the season

Really l...well that has changed in terms of loan agreements ...

Which way would you go ? ...I've only seen Heneghan once ...and he struggled a tad ...but now we are free rolling would you keep Wright ..? ...Arguments both ways really ..

Loans have to be from one transfer window to the next unless its the National League and below

I would keep Heneghan as a body but CW knows better if he is ready for 1st team action

Well that's a tricky call then ...I'm with you ...he can't be that bad he played all. Season for Motherwell ...if we were in a relegation battle keep Wright..but as we now free rolling I'd keep him

What would you do with Ched ?

The loan moves for us are an excellent opportunity as loaning them to league one allows them to find there level.

Thomas / Heneghan etc need to perform exceptionally well in League one to be able to get near our team.

But they may well play well enough for someone to pay a fee for them in League one like Blackburn / Peterborough etc.

With Ched I would love him to be fit and play for us. Don’t think he will be let out as another team that pays his wages will most likely put him into the team if he is 50/50 and we don’t want to risk injury.

Thomas is a lot closer to getting in our squad than Heneghan I'd think, but I don't think we'll sell either unless it really doesn't work out. Ones for the future, Thomas in particular has shown a lot of promise, I think fitness has stopped him getting more appearances this season (if I'm remembering correctly his pre-season was practically non-existent)

Will be good to see them both regularly playing anyway, though I'd be tempted to keep Thomas until after the PNE cup game, see if he can get another screamer.

Where does Thomas fit into our side currently?

A more attacking option to push Stevens.

Think, and could be wrong, he's been played LWB a lot for the U23 Squad, with the coaches working on his defensive abilities?

Not too sure myself that he would thrive there. He played there against walsall and looked a lost sheep. Maybe he’s improved.

His best potion in my opinion is the Duffy role but now we have Holmes there too.

Think some games in League one will help him. Let him come back to us in summer and push on.

I was listening to some ex player only a couple of days ago talking about coaching and saying that some players just don't respond to coaching very well, however many times you try it just doesn't go in. Maybe Thomas just can't grasp the positional discipline of the role?

I remember seeing Danny Rose when Spurs were converting him to wing back from winger and I thought some of his defending was shocking at times but the one thing that struck me was his positioning was always good. Maybe that's the key thing and that's why Spurs persisted with him and if you can't grasp this basic, if you just don't have the 'football intelligence' to get your positioning right, you're never going to be able to adapt.

Decks being cleared for new signings?

From Sky:
HENEGHAN TO SUNDERLAND?

Sunderland and are showing interest in Sheffield United defender Ben Heneghan, Sky Sports News understands.

The 25-year-old centre-back is currently on loan at Blackpool but has made only two appearances for them and can be recalled.

Blackburn, who were keen to sign him before he joined the Blades from Motherwell in 2017, are also still interested.

Heneghan has made only one appearance for Sheffield United since arriving – in the FA Cup – and he sees his contract at Bramall Lane expire in the summer
