Think this signing would make a huge difference to us alongside a midfielder who can play on the half turn and a striker who can compete with Moore as an out ball to beat the high press

The two strongest rumours; Brereton & Morton, would be the two I'd be most keen on.
If we filled the last two loan slots with them we'd be in a really strong position as it would open up a lot of options to use (a front 3, Hamer playing centrally, sensible use of T Davies & Peck).

I'd also really like to see us strengthen at right back, but I can understand the reasons against.

Which is why if BBD is a perm then it’s a significant move, a loan burns that extra slot and is therefore considerably less so.

Yeah I agree
BBD would cover left midfield, freeing up hamer or start as a nine who drifts out wide from our restarts
Morton looks like a good replacement for Arblaster with the ability to play on he half turn and play through the lines

Just those two would open up all kinds of options meaning Campbell, Brewster and Moore as well as o hare, Hamer and souza, Davies etc would have to carry less of a burden and could have their load lightened metaphorically speaking

All over the Interweb this morning, "Sheffield United plot double raid on Southampton", also were in for "Shock Norwich City transfer eyed by United".....

I hope we can get him on permanent this time. Seeing him leave us again after another successful loan spell would be annoying.

They paid about £6m for him and it’s not really worked out.

They’ll probably be looking to recoup as much as possible but he might be available in the £4m region.

Be an interesting one for the new owners if they’re in charge in time.

They won't sell him for £4m. They're getting relegated, BBD is an asset at this level that you can't buy for £4m.
You shouldn't really be able to buy him for £6m either. He's worth nearer the £10m mark.
Despite his lack of form for them, I still think they got a bargain.

Maybe a loan with a promotion obligation or a permanent deal at a reasonable price (what they paid) with a sizeable promotion based add-on if certain criteria were met (apps, goals etc.) would be fair all round?

surely will be loan with a view to buy for bbd looking like tyler morton could be the other loan and think we need at least 1 more which would have to be a permanent

We are not going to pay more than £6M for him!

At the time he joined us in the shitshow that was last , I doubt that even the likes of Haaland or Mo Salah would have averaged almost a goal every other game but he did and gave every impression that he got what the Blades are all about and thoroughly enjoyed playing for us .
I know that he loved his time at the Lane.

I also know that he would love to come back but at the end of the day footballers have a short career and we would have to make the numbers stack up for him.

What I don't know is whether or not Southampton would be prepared to move him on, how much they would want if they are prepared to, or if we could meet Ben's expectations in terms of remuneration.

I'd love to see him back but there's a lot of hurdles to overcome.

I’m not sure you know, they signed him after he’d scored about 1 in 2 in the premier league for an absolutely terrible team. That probably added to his value.

It hasn’t worked out for him in Spain and now it’s not worked out for him at Southampton. I think that reduces the amount of teams what would want to buy him. I don’t think anyone in the championship is paying £10m for him. I think a lot of managers will be of the opinion he’s a good championship player but they should be aiming for better if they’re aiming to stay in the premier league.

Championship teams don’t tend to spend big these days, there’s more value in picking up out of contract players and chucking wages at them than £10m fees.

Southampton may be looking at what costs they can trim ahead of next season which would allow them to keep some of their other assets for next season.

Obviously it all depends if we’re promoted at the end of the season.

BBD would probably cost no more than £10 million but suspect his wages will be high.

Surely, no non parachute Championship club could afford his wages.

I'm usually way off on these things but I would be shocked if they get their money back on him

They will never get their money back on a player who hasn't done it for them and wants to depart, add soutter to that one as well.two good deals waiting to be done

He has flopped at Southampton. Is he home sick living in Southampton ?
