Beer offering downgrade

They’ll have the Coors version on at the Lane though, sadly (brewed elsewhere).

The Sheffield one was/is (not seen it for a while) brewed by True North (who run The Broadfield, Forum etc). Sadly can’t see them having that on.

This is the obvious downside to handing out 10 year contracts, to a company that’s already done a bad job at this stuff for the previous 15 years!

They had True North's Stones on in the Grindstone a couple of months ago and it's a very nice drink. It was always a lighter golden bitter than the others around at the time and was known as 'jungle juice', on account of being a little stronger.

I agree it won't be that version and the prospect of Compass staff looking after real ale and managing to pour a full pint from a handpump, should fill any right thinking person with dread.

It will be the Burton brewed shite that has no resemblance to that from Cannon Brewery, which is hardly a surprise given that the water is so different.

I've no idea what 'Jute' might be, but adding IPA to the name fills me with dread. I'll stick with the Cremorne.

Jute is usually decent tbf, but like you say, I’ve no confidence in it being well poured etc. at the Lane.

It’s a pity the club can’t offer some kind of small pop-up to a local brewery/bar in each of the home ends.

Call me a bit weird, but l’ve always seen the time between 3pm and the full time whistle as the perfect opportunity to have couple of hours off the drink…Then resume precedings in the Crem afterwards.

Most lagers taste the same. Anyone saying otherwise would be proved wrong with a quick taste test. The main issue is what you say which is that most beers at stadiums don’t taste great.
Yep 'most' lagers do taste the same. Bland and fizzy.
I don't drink them though.
Moretti is good for the first 2 pints, then you might as well sup Carling.
Madri is the bollocks
I don't get Peroni
Czech lagers are amongst the best, especially Staropramen
German? Hell yeah - Spaten, Paulaner, Warsteiner etc.
Belgian? Vendetta, Duvel, Chimay, Delirium. All good
Most Pilsners
Continentals call them beer (because they don't recognise old man's bitter) but they're still lagers.

You're not wierd pal.

On second thoughts drinking in the crematorium is a bit...

It's a shame fans in England can't behave well enough to be able to drink in their seat. That's the only way I could see quality improving. They do it in Germany and other than a few overseas fans this euros not quite understanding not to throw plastic pints at players it works there.

I think paying £7 for anything and then throwing it is difficult to understand

Yeah the euros proved that most nations fans aren’t trustworthy enough not to throw beer or their plastic pint pots

I’ve always thought that we could eventually follow rugby and allow drinking at seats but having seen the euros I wouldn’t want it.

I don’t want to be covered in beer every game.

Personally I was hoping that with this beer downgrade that there would be a wine upgrade on the kop.

Would be great to have a decent Malbec with my Steak Pie or a little bottle of NYETIMBER as a cheeky livener before the game

I have had the True North version of Stones as well, and it's not bad. Actually reminds me of Stones, (because of the water used, I guess) rather than a generic beer using the Stones name. First one I had was at The Broadfield, about 4 years ago, and I had it at The York, which is no longer a True North pub, so I doubt they will have that on again.

Salt Brewery are decent, and Jute IPA is not bad, as far as keg beers go.

We don't drink at the lane anymore. Over charged pints of crap.

Feel sorry for the untrained young uns behind the bars/counters as well.

They have loom and sometimes jute on at my local. Decent enough beer, better than neck oil

"Loom", that was the other one that I couldn't remember the name of. A few places in Sheffield have both on.

Absolutely, I discovered them in Southern Germany years ago. I'd not seen them before that.
Blue Moon, Erdinger, Berliner etc. are some of the best wheat beers
The Paulaner Weiss Beer is a bit special too.
I’m currently in Berlin for a few days and Berliner is an easy one to drink (maybe too easy), but Erdinger is my favourite. In Sheffield think the Beer Engine still have it on draught and also the Head of Steam

Salt Brewery (Jute) have taken over a local-ish pub to me, had a pint of Serge a couple of weeks ago 🍆 - very nice citrus IPA.

I normally drink outside of the ground but in BLUT last season I ordered a Heineken. The youth behind the bar opened a can, upended it into the cup and when the froth reached the top crumpled up the still one third full can and chucked it in the bin.

WTF is Sharps cider???

I had my first glass of it a few week back.

Thought it was a bit like fizzy pop.....very strong apple taste making it taste a little different to other ciders.
I'm not a cider drinker but one glass with ice on a really hot day is refreshing.

Cheers pal.
Is it anything like the Inches it's replacing??

Exactly my point.
