Beattie situation

A general comment. Everything coming out from the club the last few years, from statements to account details suggest that we are and have been paying our players a lot of money, far more than we should when you consider our declining performances and results. But when posters on here suggest the same, they are often being met with "how do you know", "heresay" and "just speculation". As we slide down the football ladder with an increasing debt, is it comforting to think we are and have been spending our wage budget wisely and sensibly?

Not just Players, I understand we have 3 McCabes to feed and clothe now, Kevin, Scott and Simon, and add to that the Blundell guy just come on Board, the Carpet Salesman, and Julian Winter.

That Trough is getting Crowded ......

his injury could be worse than first feared ,wonder if the parking space is part of (if not all ) of the renumeration package ?

Great stuff Bergs. believe me I know exactly what you mean. Some laughable comments in past about people wanting proof that Evans etc are on big wedge. To be fair to McCabe the debt has reduced I believe - although post June 2011 the accounts suggest further cash inputs from our beloved chairman.

No I don't Matt, but which way would be the more likely? Btw I'm as keen as everyone else to see him out on the park.

Do you think a couple of sessions of Forum footie would get him fit?

We've done well without Philips who we all thought was great, but results improved without him. Maybe Beattie not being fit is a blessing in disguise. As long as we're not paying him....:)

UTB

BTs not the replacement for the stiker we'll lose in January or is he?

It said in The Star we want to get him playing over Xmas but he needs to be sharp but then Wilson said he would probably extend Beattie's contract if he seems to be on the right track regarding fitness. He has had a stomach bug and that thigh injury but from the sounds of it nothing that major that it would stop him playing sometime soon.

Complete waste of money. Pointless signing. Waste of a wage (but why spoil the habit of a life time??) However, we've seen the team are perfectly fine without him. Long may that continue.

Beattie will be in the starting line up on Saturday. FACT.[/QUOTE
Who are we playing Saturday?

Typical utd signing, a has been looking for a club. Based on 18 months here a few yrs ago, he, like Deane, walked for the cash, then returns, based on ..what?
Past goals, I guess.
Clearly we are desperate.
Marcus Bent worked well, didn`t it?

Do you know what he is on then? How do you know it isnt on a pay as you play deal? If he is then we have wasted oh let me work it out --- NOWT

Today's YP running a Beattie article. Quite interesting.

Says that when Beattie was released, Scott McCabe was straight on the blower to him asking him if there was a possibility of sorting a deal.

Also:

“I don’t know what the future holds at this stage,” he admitted. “It is a short-term deal but, if things go well, the gaffer says that he would like to keep me and I would be interested in staying until the end of the season at least."

I can make an educated guess. Around 10k a week (at least). We are almost certainly paying him a wage. The club would have stated if it was pay as you play. Wilson said that BT 'was not busting the bank with wage demands' and apperently he took a huge pay cut. Well, as he was on 40k a week before, then I should bloody well hope so. I am pretty sure he has earnt more since he has been at United than I earned in the last year. I've contributed more during that spell.

Are educated guesses better than uneducated ones??

I guess so.

Ey up judgey owd spadge. Merry Christmas. What happened to you ignoring my posts? Any ruad, It's widely known that BT was on the best part of 40k a week when he was at United.

I never knew that and neither did a lot of others. so who is this bloke 'Widely'?
Maybe it was widely rumoured but not known?

I thought we were talking about Beattie this time round, not Beattie 3 years later. I would imagine BT is on a very low basic wage, but increased based on appearences

I can make an educated guess.

Thing is, its not educated. So with that word removed your right.

P.S what was widely reported last time he was with us is widely wide of the mark. He was on just about half what you say he was. Plus bonus for goals, performance and a big fat pay off if we got promoted. We didn't so he didn't get a big fat wad of cash. He wasn't on much more as a basic than Billy Sharp.

Yes, but lets not let facts get in the way of what is "widely known". :-)
