I've only had the pleasure to witness one promotion in my 24 years of following the Blades and that was through watching the Leeds - Reading result come in through Sky Sports News in my Mother's living room - bit of an anti-climax.

That said, (HYPOTHETICALLY ) should it be in our own hands and our own game where we can secure Championship football falls in an away fixture at the likes of Northampton's Sixfields Stadium where we will receive roughly 800 tickets, what's the likelihood of United putting on a beamback at the Lane?

What are the rules on broadcasting rights etc. ??

Be @ 1,500 tickets at Northampton

I seem to remember in the distant past we had a beamback at the Lane. Don't remember the game but the picture was pixilated and a bit shit

Was the 93 quarter final 0-0 at Blackburn. Yes the picture was terrible. Think the technology has improved now though!

Nowt to do with broadcasting rights. Since last season, all efl clubs are connected to each other through a high speed fibre optic hub based in Preston. (This is why you can view goals shortly after on sky). Meaning that live streaming can take place at grounds if...the away tickets sell out, the away team can can stream the match live at their home ground, nowhere else, just the ground. Not many clubs have done this yet as there hasnt been much demand for it. But the system is in place and works very well.. Blades can make a few quid off this when away tickets sell out. The Club can then hire a giant screen and stick it on the pitch, charge fans a few quid. i know i would pay !

I think we've had a beamback from the Stadium of Rust on a couple of occassions.

It wasn't that the picture was 'pixilated and a bit shit', it was actually a stunningly accurate picture of their ground.

The Arsenal abandoned cup match was also beamed back but just shown on the TVs in the Platinum Suite rather than on a big screen on the pitch.

The 2-2 with Exeter last match of the season was beamed back in 11/12. £5 to attend the Lane if I remember correctly.

Picture quality wasn't good.

It was the Michael Tonge free kick game, I failed to get a tkt and sat on John Street for it, Remember for one of our goals a fan ran on the pitch and slid on his knees in frontof the "big" screen. Think he duly get chucked out.

Pigs have done it a couple of time because they have that many fans.

When we drew 2-2 at Bramall Lane the top two L1 attendances that day were at Bramall Lane and Hillsborough. I think they had 10k pigs inside Hillsborough.

I think you've missed a few noughts off there. Surely there were at least 100,000 at the Sty? They would all have been full price tickets too, no student giveaways. They really are the top supporters in the land.

I bet they have the volume turned down though for fear of the resonating harmonics creating further structural problems.

Only been to one beamback and that was the FA Cup quarter final away at Blackburn that we drew 0 0 - found it strange tbh - I'd rather get some tinnes, take me dog and watch it on that hill.

The outcome wasn't great either. I was persuaded to attend by Trig Jnr (TY) who with the optimism of youth said it could just happen. I went along with it, knowing it wouldn't :-)

I was at the Blackburn Beamback - sounds like a very sordid sexual practise in hindsight.

I've heard, and it might be total rubbish or alleged (whatever covers me) that Mel Morris - Derby Chairman - is trying to renegotiate a new TV deal for Championship clubs along the lines of ;why should the 24 championship clubs subsidise the rest of the football league' and key to his idea is for clubs to be able to sell 'away season tickets' so that fans can stream away games (even 3pm Saturday kick offs). Apparently it's the norm in places like Holland.

That's interesting you have put that.
I have been looking on our rivals fans forums, and on the Scunthorpe forum they mentioned beamback for their game against Charlton last Tuesday.
I originally thought they were taking the piss out of somebody but maybe it was true.

Yeah we had 2 beambacks that season, the Exeter game had 3 beambacks in front of the Family Stand and I remember Kevin McDonald scoring a rare goal.

The other one was on the South Stand when we lost one nil to the Pigs and the connection cut out for about 5 mins.

Beam backs are shit, crap picture on a stupid truck in a 3/4 empty stadium with no real atmosphoere.

I know a few who would point their phones at the screen and rebroadcast the feed too

Theres actually a facebook group where some people are doing that from the away games, last I saw they were talking about crowd funding for a gimble so it wasnt so shaky. If they get rid of the shake its actually better than sky go

Went to the Blackburn one in excecutive suite, had chicken and chips, met reg brearley... was wank...

Went to pig beamback but mate got a swills ticket for me the day after I'd bought 4 for me and the kids, couldn't let them down so I had to settle for big screen instead of the away end.. life eh..

If only it had been a steak dinner and a meeting with Kev McCabe, eh?

Kev McCabe invited my Dads old secretary and her husband out for dinner when he met them in La Manga, he got a phone call and legged it without paying the bill.

They were very fashionable at one time but I always found them difficult to sit in, particularly the cheap ones most people had that didn't seem quite full enough of those little polystyrene beads. Same with those big cushions.

Living in the Midlands, I went to see us play Coventry there about 3 seasons ago, 1st away game of the season & we lost 1 nil, awful game.

Anyway, I just parked up, walked to the ground & paid to get in sitting with the few Cov fans there, alongside a few SUFC fans. Unless I hear differently I shall do the same again!

Are you talking about the game at Sixfields? I did exactly the same the same thing (although I drove down from Wakefield)! I suspect there will be rather more Northampton fans there this time, there were about 2000 Coventry fans that day?!
