The last 18 months have more than made up for the previous 5 years of L1 shite.

Not quite yet for me. When I stop getting the same feeling of wanting to crawl into a hole when thinking about certain results we had, then the memories will have been truly banished :D

I notice nobody has mentioned how Ipswich and Norwich occupy 2 of the most expensive slots. How Ipswich can justify it with their negative, literally 'going nowhere' football is beyond me, not like it's an affluent area.

Norwich on the other hand....well, they're probably as dull as the pigs, if not worse.

Easy, the options in that part of the world on a Saturday afternoon are:

1) Have intercourse with a close family relative
2) Go to the football

If you have decent looking relatives you pick 1) if not you go to the match.

Radio pig managed to turn it round this morning (not that I gave it more than a couple of minutes) the phone in is now more about, "If you work and have a hobby does it matter how you spend your money" if United had the most expensive seats in the division they'd be inciting Brian the nob to start a car park protest

Booo! Where is the turnip sculpting option?

BTW, I think you'll find that the relatives dodn't have to be that 'decent'. At least a couple of limbs and a head, and that is fine for most of them.

Many folk are using this thread to have a dig at Wednesday’s pricing policy but are overlooking one important point....despite the high prices the fans are still turning up in numbers. Their season ticket sales are greater than ours and the match day gates are similar or slightly higher at present.

So it’s a more profitable way to run that business in the short term, and us, by comparison, are throwing money down the drain by not charging more.

If our fairer pricing policy leads to more folk coming through the turnstile in future then great! But at the moment it looks like there’s a good case to support a higher pricing policy.
More profitable in the VERY short term.

Wednesday claim to have 21,000 season ticket holders and if that's right then their "walk up" trade is almost zero.

When 25% of the existing ticket holder don't renew for next season their short term pricing strategy will prove very costly in the medium term.

Long live King Kev and his fan friendly policies.

Be interesting to giraffe those numbers against the wage bill per club.

I disagree, it will always baffle me why people support a team at the other end of the country when they don't have a link to that team, other than "they're good" or their mum/ dad/ aunt/ uncle supported them because they were good. They're still supporters of that team, so they should be surveyed to get a true picture.

You can also look to those local teams and what they're doing to attract young fans. Pig fans have said in the past that United have boosted their attendances through 'quid a kid' offers, but these are the future of our club. We do this to get young fans interested in the club and it works. But it only works long term when these kids reach adulthood and can afford to go to games. If as young working Blade I was having to pay nearly GBP 500 for a season ticket at United I just wouldn't have gone. The fact that we charge under 300 for our cheapest is a real plus point for the club. Though they can always do more

I can't get my head around the snorters banging on about "kids for a quid" as it being a bad thing the club do. As you rightly say the future of the club, get em in young, get em hooked and in a few years, they're paying full whack and they've got their kids in cheap and the cycle goes on.

Still they have their 3 season - season tickets, its serving them well at the minute.

The kids for a quid is a great investment. A few years back I took one of the three young lads next door to a couple of games - in the dark days of League 1. All 3 lads now have season tickets, buy shirts, etc. Mind you, their parents glare at me every time I see them...

Exactly pal. It's just common sense!

There is a chasm between “supporting” a football club and going to watch a team play football. It’s not about your wallet but about your heart. To support a team you need to be in love with its history, in love with its location and in love (in a manly way!) with the general character of its supporters.

A club that runs itself purely as a business and charges as much as it can when it is successful will slowly strangle its own identity.

I grew up 100 miles north of Sheffield and watched football at Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Leeds but never supported any. I then lived in Sheffield from 71-77 and became a Blade after about 2 games.

Since 1978 I have lived 100 miles south but I go to every home game and spend all day in the city. I walk around exploring how it is changing, drink in pubs that were there and pubs that weren’t and meet friends who have lived there all of their lives. Then I go and watch a game - which can make me happy and excited or sad and depressed, but I still come back whatever happens.

A relative of my wife was born in Cardiff and has supported them all of his life - even though he has lived in Australia for 30 years. For their season in the Prem he took a year off work, rented a flat in Cardiff and went to every game home and away. When he walked to the home games he said he cried every time as soon as he got on the route he walked as a boy. He didn’t know why, it just happened.

As clubs become successful businesses they may achieve huge incomes from high paying crowds, but they will lose their souls, their history and future real supporters.

I feel very lucky that somebody like Kevin McCabe has kept our club as a real part of Sheffield history, developed our wonderful home and encouraged future generations.

After all, football is really a love story not a business book.

The Magic is Back

£12.52 per match for me to watch this wonderful, proud team.

Whilst the grunting filth north of Sheffields border are being fucked over on every front.

Love it.

It's amazing to see some comments on Owlstalk along the lines of "If that's what Chansiri wants us to pay then so be it". It's insane how they can't see how they have fallen for this cult of personality style leadership. "Whatever Chansiri says must be obeyed"

They're utterly incapable of critical thought. They've been trying to justify everything from ticket prices to the replica shirt fiasco.
Even after the meeting with Dolphin Killer where he basically said "This is my club now and you lot can fuck off" they lapped it up.
They're so desperate for success they'll happily take being shafted left right and centre. That's what happens when you support a club that has no identity.

to be fair you should have asked their permission before taking him to the games :tumbleweed: UTB

Chansiri has missed a trick owls fans are so gullable he could get a sheep dog to get them in to pens at the game

So, in short, you're just a glory hunter.;) Great story, ta.

Funny you should say that. I'm constantly told how there's such a big waiting list to get a season ticket at Norwich and how it's a privilege to have a season ticket with them (I shudder at the thought). What with that and the fact it is the ONLY club in Norfolk it is little surprise that prices are so high as they have no competitors at a local level. As I keep telling them, if they were based in Yorkshire or equivalent their fan base would probably be somewhat reduced. Despite our result against them it's been enjoyable watching them implode every time they lose again, a lot of their fans are genuinely on a par with the massive, completely delusional with ideas way above their stations.

This one is priceless from a deluded Porktalker and what's amazing is, he believes this drivel

"You get what you pay for. If you want shybo mid table sloggers you can go to the lane. If you want genuine promotion contenders who play silky attacking football you'll come to Hillsborough. Plus we have a much better stadium than everyone else in this league, nobody ever mentions that when they slag our ticket prices off."

We are arguably playing the best football for years. Like for like and I don't care how much their overpaid players cost, we blind them for entertainment week in and week out.

Brilliant words and so true - well said - the Cardiff guy who took a year off work is a great story even if they did go down at least he saw them in the prem and would have some good memories as I did when we were last in it - eg Arsenal and West Ham at home l

North Korea havenothing on these stupid cunts !

Worth noting too that they've got the Wendy kit down at £49 and it's not, it's £59. It's just on sale at the moment, goes up to full price in a few days I think (just checked - 30th November).

To be fair though, you will be able to buy them in the charity shops for a fiver in six months time.

To be fair he was watching genuine promotion contenders playing silky attacking football at Hillsborough, it was September 24th, a nice sunny Sunday!

This can't be a serious post. It's almost certainly one our " sleeper cells" having a bit of a joke. The danger for the regular poster pigs is they are afraid of being sent to the gulag if they post the wrong reply.

To be fair to Pork talk, one of his comrades corrected his statement for him.

Tunaman's next con. Register the club shop as a charity so he doesn't have to pay as much tax and gets giftaid on all purchases.

Wow. Are they beginning to sell records at their shop too. Not that I would be purchasing vinyl for ridiculous prices they would no doubt charge.

That has got to be a Blade on a wind up, surely not even the South Barnsley Massive would believe any of that :D UTB

Please don`t spoil my day with the word " Norwich ". I`m still spitting feathers about their tactics (?) at the Lane.
