Don't know if it was a red, but there were other challenges of the same nature that went unpunished.

He is playing with more aggression, and long may that continue. He's been good recently, he's an important player.

I think we'll be OK without him against Bristol Rovers and Fleetwood though.

The silver lining is that Fleck will have a run of games - there's definitely a place for him (and Basham) in our strongest 11.

As I've said elsewhere, it wasn't a straight red, but our penalty could have been denied as well. Also, I hope the team don't go into the Bristol and Fleetwood games with the same air of certainty as some of our fans. They're both breathing down our necks and could undo all our recent good work.

That doesn't look good for Bash. No appeal needed, he's got no chance. I'd be interested in seeing a similar still image of the tackle on Bash 5 minutes before though - might tell a similar story.

The ball was on the floor not even bouncing so the moment Bash puts foot up like that he is facing a big risk. its ok saying there player went in hard too but he did not tackle with his foot up and over the ball.

Even if it was not a red (which sadly most refs would say was; whatever criticism of Deadman is given for his performance) it was a definite yellow and he had already been booked. His first touch was awful and then he was out of control in his challenge. Not first time he has done this (Port Vale was it a few years ago).

Of course I was not there and it sounds as if there were quite a few others that could have warranted a similar punishment.

Comjpletely agree. Two footed, over the top, no control, nowhere near the ball. It wasn't nasty like flying in two footed but it was a red. Awful control.

I think that was the problem if I'm honest. You can't go in two footed in any tackle and hope to escape punishment. We can look at it multiple times to get a judgment but in the second or so a ref sees it, it's a red every time.

I was there and by letter of the law (whether intentional or not) I felt it was a red and checked it again seeing the highlights and I still havent changed my mind

The guys reaction does not help but whether he is injured or not is irrelevant. You dont give the referee the opportunity to send him off. Basham was on a yellow. What was he thinking? Should be maximum fine we can give as could have cost us the game and very nearly did.

At slowed down/freeze frame it is a red. So imagine how it must have looked in full speed?

The ref may have been awful but he got this one right I feel. I watched it several times back and cannot really complain at the red

Getting it wrong doesn't mean it wasn't a committed tackle, and it was hardly a shocker anyway. More often than not he won't get it wrong, and even when he does it won't usually result in a red. A maximum fine would discourage such commitment, which is a big part of his game, and it wouldn't be the best way to deal with it. There should be standard fine procedures in place for when a player's not available due to suspension, but it shouldn't go beyond that on this occasion.

Agreed when I watch it again, it was a reckless tackle. One foot off the floor and right in front of the ref.
