Basham

Haven't seen the incident, but Basham is the kind of player who runs very close to the line and picks up a lot of yellows. Sort of inevitable that now and then one will go badly against him. Shame to lose him when he's picking up form. Looks like we'll get an early test of the depth of our squad now.

Looking like a TEAM,we've not had that for a while.
I'm not Bashamsgreatest fan,but we seam to be chasing everything, and challenging everything.that's the blades way, good result today that, buzzing.

As a Blade I love to see aggression. Wilder is a Blade and it's clear he wants to see it aswel. The players are responding. You need the odd aggressor in the team because then the aggression becomes infectious and spreads to the other players and then it spreads to the crowd which then creates an intimidating atmosphere. This is us. It's the blades way. I shall snap my iPad in half after I've written this! UTB

Don't know if it was a red, but there were other challenges of the same nature that went unpunished.

He is playing with more aggression, and long may that continue. He's been good recently, he's an important player.

I think we'll be OK without him against Bristol Rovers and Fleetwood though.

The silver lining is that Fleck will have a run of games - there's definitely a place for him (and Basham) in our strongest 11.

How did Fleck do today?

He was the most exciting of our or signings in the summer but so far he hasn't appeared to settle. Hoping to see the best of him soon.

He did ok but sadly like Coutts, Duffy and Lafferty hasn't got the bite of Basham, to illustrate my point watch the Scunny player run past Coutts with ease before scoring their 2nd goal.

Fleck was pretty sound, but none of our midfielders did too much individually today, it was never likely to be the case looking at Scunny's line up - three battlers in central midfield, as well as home advantage on quite a small pitch. It was always going to be a scrappy game.

I thought that any chances/goals for us would probably have to be created by the strikers themselves or come out of nothing, and I suppose that's what happened with us scoring from a free kick and a penalty. Thought we could've done with Lavery on much earlier.

Not bad foresight to sign back up in Defensive midfield then in the form of Brown then. Perhaps he'll be featuring sooner than anticipated

Fleck was very confusing today. He's changed his bloody boots and with my bad eye sight, that's a serious charge!

If that was a red card offence then there should have been four red cards in the match and there wasn't a bad tackle all game. The Ref was wank, couldn't wait to blow for a foul but then took an age in letting the free kicks be taken, he was a laughable joke.

Not a red card. He's gone over the top of him, not straight into him or through him. The contact wasn't that hard.

Moore should've done better with the first goal too, and possibly the second.

So frustrating, the money in the game it obscene and the refs are completely incompetent.

Wilder is right:

Blades boss Chris Wilder was unahppy with Basham’s red card “I think it was two honest boys going for the ball,” Wilder said. “Fans and punters want to see competition, and players making contact with each other I think. “That’s the nature of football and I’m disappointed for Bash, as he didn’t deserve that. “If that’s a red, then the challenge on Bash by their centre half is a red too.”

Watched it a few times in slow motion, both players get to the ball at the same time and the only 2 differences I can see is Bash is coming at it from a slightly straighter angle than their player who is coming at it from the side. Nearly forgot the second point, Bash gets up and carries on whilst their player does some of break dancing and then pretends he's been shot:eek: Great point today though all things considered, upwards and onwards:) UTB

I would. It might prevent you from publishing Bladey Bollocks in future. Watch Tony Currie and Co if you want to see what "is us". Proper football.

I've watched the highlights several times now and I don't think it's even a foul. Both players get there at the same time and Basham's foot is on the floor and it's his instep that makes contact, but their player is not in control of the ball.
