The dingles have got a keeper after all.

They've agreed for Luke Steele a bit ago :)

Got my ticket,

Not been to dingletown for a while, will be interesting.

can't afford to go drinking, no money and i'm feeling i'll. Couldn't turn down a ticket to the game though, I just hope i'm near a toilet.....Barnsley itself will do then!

:D:D:D

1-1 draw

They have a decent home record I cant see us winning.

So folks let's here it. What about Halls?

Came on for the injured Geary. Looked very keen to head the ball and got himself about a bit but by the time he got on to the pitch, most of Barnsley's earlier threat had dissipated or was absorbed by Naysmith who had a fantastic game on the other side of the pitch. He looked quietly assured but needs to get his hair cut :)

A great team performance by the Blades again today. Sharp took his goal wonderfully but Hulse arguably should have scored earlier and Speed was incredibly unlucky that his stinging shot against the post wasn't a few inches to the left, where it would have found the back of the net.

No complaints from me today against a team which strung some good stuff together at times. Morgan had Odejayi well in hand and let him know early doors what he was in for with some of the more "physical" of Morgs' attributes ;)

By the way... their attendance was shocking. 15,000 odd there but 5,600 were Blades. Saving up for Wembley?

Anyway... a return of the MOTM poll. Who was your MOTM?

Id have to say my top 3 today (cos I can't pick who was best) were Naysmith, Morgan & Tonge.
Naysmith and Morgan looked solid and stopped some dangerous attacks.
Tonge got stuck in, won some good 50/50 balls and played sensible and creative passes very well.

Though Cotterill didn't have his best game, wasn't comited enough in challenges at times but still played ok.

Good work by Sharp, Hulse and when he came on 'Lazy boy'

Just to add, this is my first away game where United have picked up any points, ever!!!! :D

Halls (Jesus as he was being called) did well i thought. Looked comfortable on the ball.

And the reaction from dingleland:

POST MATCH COMMENTS FROM OAKWELL
Posted on: Sat 22 Mar 2008

REDS boss Simon Davey gave his thoughts following today's local derby defeat by Sheffield United.

Simon said: "It was not a great result and defiantly not the one we wanted or deserved. On reflection I thought that we were the better team, created the better chances and should have had a definite penalty in the first half.

"We should have probably had two more penalties in the second half as well.

"I cannot fault my players because the work rate and endeavour was there. We were the better team and are very, very disappointed.

"It was nothing to do with the weather even though it was a little wild out there. We have lost a game where we have been the better side throughout and that is bitterly disappointing.

"We have played well again and got nothing. The lads are not thinking about Wembley and it is not effecting there performances. We were the better side but we will have to fight another day.

"The referee knows it was a penalty in the first half. I have seen the video and it is a definite penalty.

"People are talking a lot about Wembley but we have to go about our business. We were the better side and it would be a different story if the three penalty shouts had gone our way.

"It is a low day for us but we will pick them up and get ready for Burnley next weekend".

What a tosser, his main sights are Wembley, they were the better side, but they just abused it and did nothing with it, we took our chance and got a result, to be honest i think their ego cost them todays loss.

And the reaction from dingleland...

I don't think I've read a more error-ridden press release since the last time I read our OS.

"defiantly not the one we wanted..." Definitely?

"effecting there performances..." Their?

Naysmith did get away with one in the first half.

All around us thought we were lucky that it was not given.

A few choice thoughts from barnsleyfc.org.uk regarding the turn-out and the match in general...

You cant make or expect folk to be as keen as most of us are but surely they look at the league table and realise our predicament. Its beyond me how folk can turn their support on and off when it suits them. We needed the fans today, It may have made a difference to one or two players performances and would have given us some credibilty rather than us being the usual laughing stock.

...Devaney poor, never beats anyone, naysmith had him in his pocket, as did morgan with waste of space Odejayi, one half performance against Chelsea is not enough, get rid... We Could Go Down - feel feel to shoot me down its just an honest assessment

All in all, they aren't a happy bunch. I've said it before, I don't mind Barnsley and given the choice I would much rather see the piggies relegated before them. However, their attendance today was shocking and it's unfair to give those who were there the stick. The shit fans are the ones with Wembley tickets in their pockets who stayed away today.

I can't believe only 10,000 (or less) Barnsley fans turned out.
