I’ve been quite critical of Baldock’s end product this season – he’s been much poorer on the ball in the final third than Freeman, and still has some way to go in that regard. But I think in the midst of the disappointment of Saturday we probably haven’t given enough attention to the excellent assist (his first of the season) that Baldock delivered for Hogan’s goal. Drove to the line, clipped it back to the far post and all Hogan had to do was get something on it.

Encouraging stuff, and hopefully the first sign of many that he can improve this part of his game.

When I saw Baldock going to the by-line, I thought this is going nowhere, but fair play it was a perfect cross for Hogan to knock in. Hopefully it's the first of many.

I think Baldock is the better player all around. Freeman might be technically superior but it's not like Baldock can't play at all. And Baldock is faster, fitter and does a much better job covering for Bash when he goes forward

Said it for a while now that if Freeman had Baldock’s engine, or Baldock had Freeman’s ability going forward, we’d have a top, top player on our hands.

Neither are anywhere near good enough at the next level up.

Actually, knowing our luck, it’d come out with the weaker aspects of Freeman and Baldock together.

We could clone Patrick Suffo with Connor Sammon, Jon Ebrell and Dean Hammond. It would give us a player with bags of skill but an uncontollable temper, who can’t jump and is permanently injured but does unseen work!
