Very good read that, and pretty much spot on, in my humble opinion.

Nice little re-cap that, though I reckon 'the Captain is still lost in the fog...perhaps Wilder can be his lighthouse...( ooo, bit poetic that...! Lol )

I've seen several comments on here in recent weeks already which could be interpreted as digs at Wilder. It'll be interesting to note later on in the season.

It's as if some people purposely set themselves up as detractors before a ball has even been kicked.

The only reason I've criticised Wilder is because he keeps saying something and not delivering. It's called semantics and managing expectations and he's been dreadful so far.

Clean slate in terms of a manager or me.

I await the promise of not signing players on the way down to join the list tomorrow.

Not delivering what exactly? It's mid-July for fucks sake.

Someone posted it on another thread.

Everything he's said in terms of hoping to sign players has not happened. If either Nigel had done that they'd be castigated, but not true honest blade Wilder who is 'one of us'.

No criticism of his management, as we've obviously not played a game.

He might want to think about what he's saying in the future. Just a criticism of his handling of the media

I'm sure the Wilder Army will come back and tell me I'm a pig. Bring back WHF, there was at least only one of them.

Dreadful so far? Loads out, 3 in, a couple tomorrow and a refreshing of the club inside 5/6 weeks? Are you drunk or stupid?

Can any of you actually read? Seriously? HAVE I CALLED HIS MANAGEMENT DREADFUL? FUCKING NO.

Three signed, 2 more in the pipeline, the majority of the shit have been shown the door. I really don't know what you want. It's your expectations that you should probably manage.

I fucking give up

You tell me you want 5 or 6/most of your business done by the start of pre-season training - It doesn't happen

You tell me that it will be hotting up next week - nothing happens

You tell me that the next week will be exciting - nothing happens

You tell me that a chief scout will be announced in 2-3 days - nothing happens

You tell me you can sign 5/6 before having to rely on outgoings and then change your tune 2 weeks later

MANAGING EXPECTATIONS.Don't say something unless you are pretty damn certain it's going to happen.

That's my issue, nothing else.

How you can say anything about him being "dreadful" is an insult to the guy. He said the situation regarding Hammond was strange and sorted it out in no time. The things he said about bringing players in before they reported back to training was the right thing to do as he obviously thought he could do that. Situations change daily with agents all over the place looking for the best deals for their clients.
Negatives already are quite baffling.

Ah right, so having already stated that it's not his actual performance as manager that's the problem, it's just that he didn't do the things that he's done to a precise narrow timescale. And that's "dreadful".

Alright then.....

sigh, this is ONLY a comment of his handling of the media. At work, if I told 'stakeholders' that I'd like 5/6 things to happen by a deadline, and they didn't, in less than two months, I would be sacked, or at least lose any credibility.

I'm not saying for one second Wilder should be sacked. I'm just hoping that he would stop saying things in the press if they're not definitely going to happen.

I either of of previous managers had done something similar all Hell would break loose on here. Because he's a Blade, because he's 'honest', then he isn;t allowed to be criticised.

robbiez, you are acting like a child when it comes to Wilder. He's not been dreadful, he's not even got started yet. Surely the judgement starts when we kick off in 4 weeks

Sigh, you clearly never grasped the concept of reading (whether you agree with me or not)

The real deadline is the start of the season. No manager loses credibility before August.

And no, no manager would be so heavily criticised in July, Blade or not. Because that would be spectacularly daft.

It's no wonder so many people on here are crying about being lied to about Brexit. Jesus wept.

My comment was less aimed at the specific post above but at the ongoing wingefest you've been engaged in for a while now. I understand that you are criticising his handling of the media and he'll get away with almost anything in that area until we start to play games - as do all new managers.

Once we are playing games, he'll be able to say literally anything he wants if we win every game. If we are losing, he can be as articulate and intelligent as he likes in front of the mike and he'll get slaughtered.

Much of my criticism has been born from frustration. Things are actually moving now, thankfully.
