The 120 doesn't go down Granville Road. Just sayin' like .

LOL :D
Route change, still catch 120 and stay on past Granville Road bus goes down Duke Street and into city centre bus station, then either catch 47/48 bus upto ground or walk.

Alternate bus from outside Birley Pub no 53 you can get off bottom of Granville Road better than going into city centre :D

So, drink miles from anywhere/anyone, wrestle with public transport in a strange place , including changes, or park up somewhere adjacent to BDT and meet up with your mates for a few.

The decision.....is yours....

Why on earth would an away fan coming to Bramall Lane want to mess around with all this?!

New Pub/Brewery halfway up,Shoreham Street might be ok for a pint, bit dear though, only 5 minutes from ground

Never understood this type of ruling trouble isn't going to come off scarfers .

Think it's just easier to say no colours than try and distinguish, I've seen fans turned away for a small pin badge and no other signs of support. They also often close the doors when a train is arriving back from Blades or Weds away trips.

Can't understand the beer prices at the Sentinel - overall it's about £1 a pint more expensive than anywhere else. Ok, the beer is good but IMO no better than Abbeydale, Kelham island, Thornbridge etc and there are loads of decent pubs around selling those. The other thing is that The Sentinel brew the stuff a couple of yards from where they serve it so they've got zero transport or handling costs! Absolute rip off - only been there once and that was before the Walsall match...........we lost so I won't be going back!!

Had a tour of the brewery a few months ago, with Alex (?), the brewer. He said the water in Sheffield is uniquely suited to making the Czech Pivo and Kolsh style beers, rather than real ales. I can't remember the justification now, but it sounded convincing at the time.

Hard to disagree that they are both very nice pints. Do agree with you on pricing though. I tend to treat myself to a pint in there before heading off elsewhere, if it were a bit cheaper I'd probably park myself in there for the duration.

Hope you have a good day out - apart from the final score.

You have been given plenty of beer options, so just thought I would mention that I will disappointed if I don't hear:

'Is this a Library?'
'You're just a shit Sheffield Wednesday'
'You're supposed to be at home.'
And when we are 3 up and people start to leave 'Is there a fire drill'?

And top points will be awarded for advising us that you are by far the greatest team the world has ever seen, or that everywhere you go you seem to make all the noise.

And we know Sheffield is a shithole.

Alright chaps, where's the best place for away fans to drink around the ground? Before Christmas we'd sold 1700 of our 1790 tickets so I don't know if we'll get anymore or whether it will be POTD? Sure there will be a lot of Wilder love emanating from the away end all afternoon.

You will be 10-15 walk from some of the best beer in the country. For any real ale loving football supporters Sheffield United away is one of the finest away trips you can make.

My own recommendation is to avoid the Sheffield Tap like the plague, it is overpriced, the bar staff are arrogant and rude and personally I can't stand it (plus the beer they brew on site (Tapped) isn't that good either when compared to some of the other local breweries)

The biggest away following seen at Bramall Lane this season has been when Oxford brought 1,276.
So it will be a novelty and good to see a big crowd on the away end which should improve the atmosphere.

The top tier holds about 2,500 (taking into account segregation) and the bottom tier holds almost 3,000 (but is only opened when the top tier sells out). So you'll NOT struggle to get tickets.

I understand that United ALWAYS encourage tickets bought in advance and initially make it all ticket for away fans but a few days before kickoff they announce there will be pay on the day but prices go up £2 if bought on matchday.

SUFC don't want a 1000+ away fans turning up queuing up for tickets putting a strain on match day staff resources. They prefer the vast bulk of home and away fans to already have tickets for the auto unmanned turnstiles.

Beware early kick off.

I know that the Rutland doesn't open until 12 so not a right lot of pre match drinking time if you go there.

I don't know how many other places this may apply to.

On these occasions they sometimes open at 11 and if they don't, the Red Lion does.

Which route you taking??

Sometimes you can sneak in the back door early but to me they always seem a bit ambivalent about footy fans.

I'll be on a train but as yet I have no plans as to which one

If you are coming in numbers then the Sheaf Island (Wetherspoons) is a really big boozer, pretty soulless, but holds a lot of people, plenty of beers and fairly cheap. Boozers nearer the ground are smaller and get packed out quickly.

If you like decent beer, then maybe the better option is to go for a few pints after the game, when it won't be as full, and you can drown your sorrows in peace.
