If our Barnsley adjacent brethren make the playoff finals, they are a shoe in to begin to make a case that they are a bigger club if more of them attend Wembley.

oh yes were gonna get all that nonsense if they get to wembley but the way their playing suggests they wont get there some very pessimistic piggies on snortalk 🤣🤣🤣

They are a bigger Club, and will take a lot more to wembley but who cares, they're fucking shit, there's a strong chance that they're will be a full division in between us next season, now I know we're not successful but in my lifetime of 30 odd years at least we've got to loads of playoff campaigns, a few promotions, 6 Cup semi finals since the one we lost to them, yes we've achieved nothing but at least we generally are in the mix and something is happening, in that same time they've been in 1 cup semi final and a couple of championship playoff campaigns, and probably 10 plus relegation battles, let them shout all they want about their away support and that they'll take 40k to wembley, it's irrelevant, they are utter shite , have been for 30 years and a far from the big club a lot of the deluded fans think they are.

Lost me at the first 5 words

We'll take more to the lane tonight than we took to Wembley, shows you where our priorities are. It was an expensive day out with no chance of success and we've been there plenty of times, it just wasn't a match to get excited about other than visiting a big stadium

If the pigs want to get bigger crowds than us…they need exhume a few bodies fast.

Because a massive attendance for a L1 play off final is so much better than being a team that got to an FA cup Semi and got promoted to the Prem in the one season.

They have so little to shout about, just chuckle and move on.
Snout about.

A few thoughts on this:

1) Wednesday fans ought to worry about how many turn up to their own ground. They sold it out once for a game v us (with about 8k Blades there) and another v Wycombe to seal promotion. We’ve been averaging more since the turn of the century largely because we’ve been the better side.

We all know Wednesday fans with plenty to say (especially about us) but they very seldom set foot inside Hillsborough other than one off occasions.

2)Wembley attendance doesn’t really signify much. Unless you are a South East club or a club with a nationwide/world wide fan base then taking loads to Wembley just usually signifies you haven’t been for a while (I.e Coventry taking 38,000 for the Papa Johns final).

3) What does it matter who is biggest and what does it mean anyway? I don’t console myself with losing out on the title to Burnley that we are a bigger club than them…..(and who knows if we are, we may not be any more, no way to know). Ultimately trying to point score over trivialities when you are a whole league behind your rivals (and possibly soon to be two) is serious loser talk.

Wednesday are largely irrelevant in the national football picture. I don’t understand why we concern ourselves with what they think.

This “big club” mentality that they cling to off the back of a few decent years in the 90s is what keeps them where they are. Long may it continue.

Most small clubs take statistically large followings to Wembley. It's the nosebleed factor - and it applied to the pugs here.

Don’t mean to be dismissive but this attendance obsession is playground nonsense,It’s ‘my dad is bigger than your dad’ all over again.
When I started attending regularly at the Lane the average attendance was about 13k,
15k was a good crowd ….I didn’t give a fuck then and I don’t now.
It’s all Wednesday have got, it makes em happy/er leave them to it.

Yeah, they’re that big, they even don’t bother going to the sty.

Became big game Charlie's a long time ago, the attendences thing (and obsessing over us) is all they have left, thier task to stay up should they get up will be as hard as ours, just in a lower division.

To push on in the championship after promotion you have to have a team that rips league one a new arsehole, not a team of has beens and arseholes huffing and puffing thier way to results..

They get up, they'll go down with that squad.

You also get more tickets for a play off final than an FA Cup semi or final

If United had been given 45000 tickets we'd have not sold them all but we'd have had more fans there than last Saturday

If we'd been given 63 tickets we'd have only sold 58 of them because the club and ticket office are fucking idiots

When I started going in the late 80s, we averaged 10000 and the pigs were double that (helped by Man Utd/Liverpool bringing massive followings). Nobody really gave a shit. Wednesday could take 70000 slack jawed inbreds to Wembley for all I cared, as long as they lose.

since the early 70s when I started going they’ve not once averaged 30k or above , where we have on a couple of occasions , and that included their galacticos side, the one or two big crowds they get show the fickleness of their support

Pigs will make it easy for fans to buy tickets to the play off final if they make it. They will encourage part timers and hangers on to go.
It will be the polar opposite to our ridiculous ticket policies that are focussed on minimising sales in terror we may sell out and someone doesn't get a ticket or even worse a potential new fan who hasn't been before gets a ticket.

I’ll some it up by saying if their support is that good , how come Hillsboro isn’t full every home game ?
I couldn’t give a shit about them & 15k part timers who go in the loft & dig out in their ‘Irsty or Waddle ‘ shirts once every 5 years then disappear up their own arses & couldn’t name 1 player in the current side ⚔️

This, all day. Being proud of the number of glory hunters who crawl out when Wembley comes calling is strange behaviour.
They remind me of Denzel Washington at the end of Training day: he has been beaten up by his trainee, had the money he owes to the Russians taken away, been shot in the arse, the people he terrorised are no longer afraid of him, wandering away as they realise he is powerless, a totally spent force, yet he rants at them trying to convince them he is still relevant:
“Yeah, that's right, you better walk away. Go on and walk away... 'cause I'm gonna' burn this motherfucker down. King Kong ain't got shit on me. That's right, that's right. Shit, I don't, fuck. I'm winning anyway, I'm winning... I'm winning any motherfucking way. I can't lose. Yeah, you can shoot me, but you can't kill me.”

Tell me that’s not Sheffield Wednesday fans!

Their turn up on the big day fans are maybe 5k more than ours, let them have it, it's to do with the size of litters they have 🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖
