Attendance against Scunthorpe

Should be the 2nd largest crowd in England tomorrow, only to be surpassed by the wolves match.
That's gunna be their biggest in nearly 4 decades.

If BL lower is empty. I'll blow my fucking top!!!!

There should be exactly 552 Scunthorpe fans in the bottom tier.

Scunthorpe quickly sold their initial allocation of 2,292 in the top tier, so asked for more tickets.

The bottom tier holds 2,990 but these days has 445 seats netted off at one corner flag and another 445 netted off at the other corner flag.

So they could have had up to 2,101 additional tickets in the bottom tier (like Bolton) but have sold 552 in the bottom tier. Their website says 2,844 is their final sales figure with no tickets available on the day.

I thought we were now selling tickets for the BL lower to home fans? Or was that just for recent home games?

It was a 3 game trial. After which they decided they'd sell them to away fans o_O

The plan is away teams are always initially offered the top tier of 2,292.

Very few league 1 teams will bring 2,200+ fans so if home areas look like being filled then Blades will be allowed to use the bottom tier.

I expect we'll only have the bottom tier for the last game of the season at home to Chesterfield as I doubt Chezzie would sell 2,292 and there'll likely to be a 30K demand from home fans.

For that game no netting would be required in the lower tier so capacity should increase to 32,000.

Makes you wonder how many we could have sold if more tickets were available to home fans? I bet there are plenty who fancy going to this game but are put off as there are only restricted view seats left, these are potential regulars for the future and we could be missing out.

Presumably because they think Scunthorpe and Bolton will sell out the away end?! Not likely, and if we'd just given them the upper tier we wouldn't need to have all this netting either. Surely there are enough seats in the BL upper and there is no need for as much segregation - other to the BL corner of home fans.

I also bet that there are plenty who tell their mates 'they fancy going' and use the excuse of restricted views.

Part time Blades - doncha just luv em?

Capacity without Bramall Lane end is about 26K. Knock off 1K for a few scattered and pillar seats. Add 3K from Scunny and you get around 28K.

So 27785 for me.

And 4-0.

UTB

I wonder if this is going to be roughly the capacity of the Lane now - due to segregation/masking off seats?

Actually it was 'before'. Don't let it stop you getting the boot in though.
Why did we need to give Scunthorpe any tickets on the lower tier? They've only sold a few hundred. Had they made it available to Blades instead there's a good chance we could have sold more that Scunny have.

Biggest game of the season and we're giving tickets to the away team rather than our own fans.

..but our fans haven't been exactly queuing round the block have they? 25k v Oldham and then nothing near.

It's easy to blame the club, but if Scunny say they can sell 3k and the part time Blades can't be arse to turn up in January, then what would you do?

It looks like we've sold about 25,000 tickets for tomorrow, I'd rather see a crowd of 25,000 Blades and as few away fans as possible.

If we let away teams have both the upper and lower tier
Then the capacity is close to 30,500 (includes about 500 poor view seats).
The gate tomorrow isn't nearer 30K because Scunnie haven't sold 1,600 available tickets.

If we just give the away fans 2,101 in the lower tier only.
Then the capacity goes up a little to about 31,000 (again includes 500 poor view seats)

And if we just give away fans the 2,292 in the top tier only.
Then potentially this could release loads of netted off areas
And then capacity would be just over 32,000 (includes 500 poor view seats).

However I'm sure the SY Police would be really nervous having a few thousand Blades milling around the Bramall Lane end pre, during and post match when there are 2,000 away fans on the same end (upper tier).

Ahh yes, that famous old chant will be ringing around the Lane again tomorrow well after kick-off...

'EXCUSE ME PAL, YOUR IN OUR SEATS'

'NO WE'RE NOT!'

'WELL IF THESE AREN'T OURS WHICH ARE THEN?' Thrusts ticket in your face.

AAAHHGH! :(

Interesting stuff, part of me is angry at our club, part of me is understanding at our club, I think the club should come out with a clear statement and explain it, then, possibly we can understand it

No these are our seats

No mate I'm a season ticket holder, sat there all season

LOOK AT MI TICKET!

It says DD. DD. This is D.

Silent head down shuffle towards the steps.

Someone at United may be labouring under the misapprehension that we have to offer 10% of the ground capacity to away fans... Which would entail both upper and lower tiers.

However, as far as I can see, this is not actually the case.

The rules are:

Premiership - guaranteed 3000 away tickets unless capacity is less than 30000, in which case 10% must be offered to away team.

Football League - s34.2.1"Each Club must make provision for at least 2,000 visiting supporters at every home match or such number as represents 10% of the Club’s certified capacity, if less than 2,000."

Not bothered, in fact I am, more people harder it is to get for a piss 20 minutes in due to pre-match ale. Bring Adkins back, no probs shuffling across when we are shit.

Don't think the Blades would throw money away, there has been occasions when we have asked for more tickets for away games and to have them we have to sell them or pay for them tricky situation when that happens. We may have given them extra with the provision to pay for them if not sold.Just guess work!! as you say Boxer a statement on policy wouldn't go amiss

Why all the netting? The stands are separated. The bottom tier is perfect for away fans.
If it was good enough for biggest clubs in the land 10 years ago why not now.
In my opinion BL upper is still the best view in the ground and season tickets should be available there.

You could have a season ticket in the 70s&80s
