Atmosphere like a morgue.

The atmosphere has been massively overhyped, agree with the OP but not to the extent it was shit, it was just disapointing and bang average. BL is nowhere near the fortress it once was, much of the game was played in silence with chants that finished before they had been completed at times. We had a couple of loud moments but nothing like the cup games of previous seasons or prem day, not even close. Saying that it wasnt bad it just wasnt good.

As mentioned previously singing sections, safe standing and flags could be great things to introduce and boost the volume levels.

No chance, they wouldn't be able to do anything if 200 or so were up there from the back row downwards.

If we could arrange it I'm sure it would work well. The problem is we can't get season tickets up there.

Why not unreserved seats? All we need is something like Palace where a few hundred are at it all game and it gets the rest going.

Its the way English football is going, you cant stand up without being ushered into your seat and there's something that feels faintly ridiculous about singing at the top of your lungs while sat down. Until those rules change, which they wont, the atmosphere anywhere is going to be rather underwhelming.

Though watching through Sky today the atmosphere sounded fantastic, just remember that when youre oggling other teams vocal support.

But everyone accepts we've had much better volume levels than today without the safe standing, flags etc?

Actually it's the fans' fault. They could back their team far more fervently than they do. Sorry but it's self-evident.

Was a good atmosphere today, and and a real buzz around the ground throughout.

Only disappointment for me was the empty seats, probably the same people sat at home watching on Sky, are the ones moaning about not getting an Mk Dons ticket.

Plastic supporters, no excuses for not going today.

I know quite a few with pre booked holidays unfortunately. School and Easter at the same time. WOuld be interested to see if attendances were down slightly on the norm today.

I certainly can't agree with this 'no home fans sing for 90mins mantra'. I'm from Bradford, and have attended both Bradford and Leeds home games with mates this season (and previous). I can confirm both of those clubs' fans sing for virtually the 90minutes irrrespective of opposition or result.

Well one of them certainly doesn't away from home. Thought they were very quiet for long periods today mate.

Today certainly wasn't an amazing atmosphere.

However having been to Elland Road and Valley Parade many many times I'll have to raise a wry smile at some of your comments.

Indeed prior to cheap tickets the support at Bradford was usually pitiful in both numbers and noise.

Agree with your point. The number of plastic bandwagon jumpers BCFC have got since they got to Wembley and started virtually giving the tickets away is a big number.
A small correction though - Its pronounced Bellend Road actually;)

Going from the train journey home today those all singing Bantams only have 1 song, they sang it briefly on the station concourse and that was about it. Hats off. Not.

the singing section would of been the way to go but it got swamped with young kids and got ridiculed. If half the people who Moan about the atmosphere did something about it there wouldnt be a problem.

We have but these could help maintain a good atmosphere on a more consitant level.

Weird how weve gone from being one of the loudest sets of supporters in the country to distinctly average. We have a lot to shout about this season and no real improvement. In this country i think palace have got it spot on

Our fans aren't particular vocal, and I don't think it matters until I see people claiming what a great atmosphere Bramall Lane is, because truthfully it isn't.

I turned up hoping/expecting a real carnival atmosphere today and it was so disappointing. I even remember Bradford fans singing 'champions and you still don't sing' at a point. Such a shame that today was the perfect opptortunity to get the ground rocking and it just never did.

Pointed out by Pulse, for example:

That the ground wasn't exactly the party we were hoping for. I sit half way back in the Kop and no one within 10 seats of me sang at any point in the game. I think of you what singing/atmosphere you need to be attending away games. They are a different kettle of fish! BL just isn't quite the couldron of noise I wish it was.

I'm afraid clubs like Leeds ( I despise them as much as anyone the way) and a few others have a different approach. For them, singing and shouting for their team is an essential part of the match. It's their function; it's their job; it's their finction; it's their contribution.

Most of our lot simply don't see it that way. They prefer to moan, or at best, sit in silence. Singing and chanting just isn't on their teamsheet. I believe it's a symptom of Bladey Inferiority Complex. They actually feel awkward about encouraging the team.

Summatt to complain about - yet again for Gawd's sake. This was a bloody training session, and the lads stepped up to 2nd gear when they needed to. If we'd needed a result today to get into automatic 2nd spot then the place would have been a soddin' crucible and your ears would have been bleeding. Personally I needed the peace , calm and tranquility that a smug satisfied wide smile gives me in my advancing years. A bit of moisture in the eyes when the lads came round to mop up the applause was enough emotion for me in the dying embers of this 6 year sentence thank you very much. The morgue can bloody-well wait...... I'm going on a journey to the promised land with one of our own.

The club have been right on point giving the ground back to the fans with the whole BLUT today. I swear to God most of the sad gets in their today should have gone to a fucking garden centre not a match. I was embarrassed we were live given the shit vocal support.
Hate to say this but I genuinely think in our position today the fucking pigs would have rocked the joint especially given the great football on show.
A couple sat behind me spent the whole fucking match talking about the behaviour of some cunt in an episode of some fucktard soap opera. Disappointing vocal support.

Speak for yourself, was in the upper tier today and atmosphere was just like rest of ground, carnival type and everyone cheerful. The Blades are champions cheer up for fuck sake

Interesting responses. A fair few actually responding to the OP and agreeing whilst others disagreed.
Then there are those who for god knows what reasons consider an opinion other than a complete wankfest is tantamount to being a pig fan.
I maintain the atmosphere was very muted. Can't comment on how it sounded on tv as I wasn't watching one.
The BLUT is the perfect place accoustically to make a right fucking din as countless small numbers of away fans have shown for years. The club have been fantastic in doing everything they can to get SUPPORT for our brilliant team on all four sides. Something many on here have wanted and congratulated the club for. Today was the perfect opportunity for the place to absolutely rock.
The kop never gave up but wasn't very loud. South stand got better as the game went on but as the Bradford fans rightly sang "Champions and you still don't sing"
I've lost count of the number of posters demanding more vocal support,a return to the fortress Bramall Lane situation.
Well the players and the club have done there bit to facillitate that.
Piss poor Lane end today.

No it wasn't. Cheerful sure. Carnival type? You been on something?

Absolutely. I couldn't have put it better myself, and compliments don't come any higher than that...
:)

I think that's harsh mate. Always respect your views but I think our fans are as passionate as Leeds. We do have our fair share of moaners but vocal wise we certainly have great support both away and at home. As a comparison numbers wise, Leeds in League One averaged 24,000 in their promotion season and we won't be far off that, and definitely higher than Wednesdays 21,200 in the season they pipped us. If its solely noise you're talking about I don't think today was ever going to be a match where we were at our loudest because the game was a forgone conclusion and its also still League One at the end of the day and we all know as good as this season is, it will be next season where the home atmosphere will be better when we know that we will be underdogs in many games.

Support wise its never been better in my view at the Lane and next season we may well be the best supported team in Yorkshire and that's pretty impressive.

I can remember under Kendall in his first season in what's now the Championship we regularly got 10,000 or little more. Now we're upwards of 22,000 in Division 3.

I don't know what's happened to our support
It's had the enthusiasm so heavily kicked out of it over the years, but that isn't the reason why

We seem to have adopted a bunch of cardigan wearing, smug, sanctimonious, regulatory pricks who have nothing better to do than to shout sit darn, shurrup, shift that fucking flag, don't chuck them balloons anywhere near me

Truth is they don't really care about these things, they're just saying it to be wankers

They're a bunch of tossers

Like most clubs we are more vocal away and in Div 3 we all know most of our fans still expect us to win as opposed to knowing its a 50/50. Next season will be different back in a league where we will definitely be underdogs, certainly to start with.

Thought the atmosphere was disappointingly flat. But Im watching it back now and it sounds great.

The atmosphere was decent today, but not great. To describe it as "like a morgue" is simply seeking controversy, as is often themes with SBT's posts.

Interesting explanation for posting an opinion that dosen't involve huge amounts of semen being spurted all over absolutely EVERYTHING ALWAYS that is SUFC.
You conveniently ignore the huge and repeated praise given to the players, management and club per se.
