Overal it seems like people want a better atmosphere and tbh i don't know why you wouldnt, its only going to enhance your match day experience and have a positive effect on our performances.

That said if we are all embracing the idea of a better atmosphere why are some against the idea of trying to make it happen. Whats the worst that can happen? Worst case scenario we still end up with a flat atmosphere for most games.

Do people really want to keep turning up to sit in relative silence for almost 2 hours. Its dreary and boring.

And in regards to cambridge united comments, their home games unfortunately are better in terms of constant singing and decent volume (comparing their home games to ours, our away support is miles better/louder) If that pisses you off then good because it pisses me off as well. This is why it needs to be adressed because it getting embarrising and has been highlighted in many of Roys 'view from' posts.

But it's not about slagging anyone off. If you sit towards the back of the kop, you can clearly here several vocal pockets of fans in different areas. They regularly cancel each other out by taking the wind out of each others sails. A simple, unreserved seating area could cure it.

People suggesting that's some sort of organised sanitisation of football, that would be rejected, are over thinking it. The fact is, the atmosphere at most games is shit. It's not a dig at anyone, just a cold, hard fact.

Doing nothing (is this really the best we can hope for?) has at best tracked this, at worst caused it. I can't understand the objection to some simple trial.
Good reply.

I don't object to anything, i'm trying to get across to people why the atmosphere isn't as good as some or more or less all of us are hoping for. For me, It's not going to reach any lofty heights until we are more or less promoted as I almost elude to in my initial post, people can think that's shit or whatever but to me our fans have every right to be cautious.

As I said earlier, I love an atmosphere and some banter with the opposition, I take my lad who has heard every bit of language under the sun and I won't stop that from happening, it adds to the atmosphere. Some people have different ways of showing their passion, releasing some energy and stress from wanting to kick the shit out of their wanker of a gaffer during the working week but can't do it for obvious reasons, :) some of what i'm saying could possibly relate to why those on the Kop who like to sing sit so far apart, there has always been a few disruptions up there over the years to say the least, all a bit stupid at times I know but it does happen nonetheless, it's as if they are trying to compete with each other at times up there. Alternatively, what i'm saying could quite simply be bullshit so i'll stop babbling on mate. :)

The atmosphere at The Lane will be back, that i'm sure of, things take time to heel and I think our fans deserve a bit of leeway just like the team has over the years. :)

Football fans in England are reactive, not proactive.

Anywhere else in Europe, the noise is deafening even well before kick-off and not conditional on how the team is playing or the division they're in. In other words it's the proper definition of support.

It won't pick up until promotion is secured, then we'll see a transformation.
yeah i used to hate that.. it's kind if impressive at first but then you realise half the people seem to be there for the sing song or someone applied a normalising filter
it's flat at BDTBL at moment because there are no away fans to spark off

The problem with football in this country in general is that it's become overly polished and full of bullshit post-Taylor Report, Sky-era propaganda.
The football match is supposed to be a place for emotion and passion in all forms, as long as that passion is confined to singing, colour and atmosphere. Now it's being rammed down peoples throats that certain things can't be sung or said because the naughty swear words might hurt little Timothys ears. Even your flags have to be "fire safety approved" for fucks sake.
An entire stand on John Street is off limits to me because I don't have kids and my Dads dead.
The stand opposite, which once rivalled the Kop for noise and atmosphere has become largely gentrified, The Bramall Lane end is inaccessible to home fans despite the fact that the away team usually only brings 500 at the most.
And the Kop? We once had a top class, highly original identity on there. Over time it's become the centrepoint for little scally wankers singing "Shoreham Boys" over and over again, or whatever generic shite they ripped off Twitter or Facebook. Probably the same mega hard twats who vandalise concourses at away games.

These are the things that hold it all back. But it can be improved slightly by getting out of this division.
defo. that shoreham boys excuse of a song is dogshit. what happened to originality? brian deane and tony agana bigally bogally boo...

I agree. I've been to the Abbey Stadium a few times (last game was towards the end of last season, U's v Carlisle) and there was plenty of noise and a good atmosphere on their Newmarket Rd stand behind the goal. They were singing 'black and amber army' that went on for ages, it got sort of hypnotic, especially with their drummer to keep the rhythm going.

The atmosphere at the Lane has progressively worsened as the number of pubs around the ground have declined .

Fuck spending money on safe standing areas , get some more pubs opened .

More pubs = more pissed up blades . More pissed up blades = better atmosphere . More pissed up blades also = more ale chucked abart = more angry blades = more hostile atmosphere .

simple :)

Fair point.

Smell Pork.

I did too, knobhead on radio sheffield said a silly joke as I was driving in on Saturday about there being no atmosphere at the lane (they were talking about virgin galactic) I thought this post was about that.... this should have been posted last year and in the dark days of weir...... not now...

Ps, it was shit once the seats went in, regarding chants, cause all the lads got split up who used to mob up behind the net and at the back

Sit anywhere ticket policy is great in theory. But human nature says people will leave the odd seat between them and the next group along the row. You'd need the stewards to act as ushers to fill all the empty seats.

I was at Lincoln City v Guiseley today and Lincoln have a designated singing area in the corner of the stand. A great idea by the club and a great atmosphere for the whole game. We have to bring something in like this at BDTBL to get the atmosphere back.

There was no lack of atmosphere when the seats first went in. None at all. It's declined as the fortunes on the pitch did. That's a @bring back standing" fallacy.

f and g gangways best place for atmosphere on the kop virtualy non existent otherwise most people just turning up expecting us to win but will get better as we get nearer to promotion

Last two games what I assume is H and maybe G block in the South Stand have made a fair bit of noise.

Had season tickets on G until a couple of seasons ago. It always used to be rocking (and good banter with the away fans when they were on BL Lower). It was dead the last season we were on there.

Twas like a mini Kop with a much better view. I'd move back in a second if it's picked up again.

It works at Palace. A few hundred there make more noise than the 20,000 Trappist monks that turn up to "support" United but do no such thing.

If we are in the Championship I would make the Bramall Lane Lower a singing area with non-designated seats, so the crooners could congregate together. It would make a difference. There would be plenty remaining on the Kop who would join in.

The Bert UK residence is on a hill at least a mile away from Sincil Bank, however yesterday Bert knew that they's scored twice late on without looking at any phone or computer.

Didn't we trail that 6/7 years back? Around the time some tried getting that European song going that didn't really have words

What happens if you want to sing but don't wan't to sit in the designated singing area?

We should make the whole ground a singing arena, and then have a designated non-singing area for the pillocks that stare at you as if you're off your head just for singing the CGB.

The atmosphere in big games at bdtbl is as good as any football stadium in the world

Most people don't go to games to sing songs and create an Atmosphere they go to watch a game ,the more exciting the game the more vocal they are

Believe it or not six years playing the same teams in league one doesn't really get anyone's juices flowing

But it's a good chance to have a pop at the fans again

We have been mocked by fleetwood for our shite atmosphere, could it get any more embarrassing.

Yesterday was silent the whole game, one of the shittest blandest atmospheres ever experienced in the history of football. I have no doubt that this made the players nervous, when they can hear every individual groan in a flat but tense atmosphere your not going to play your best. You're going to be very concious of the atmosphere and over think everything you do. Bit like beeing under pressure for a big pitch, report, presentation and having your MD sat over you watching/assesing everything you do.

We need to adress this as it will 100% have a negative effect on the players.

Play behind closed doors?

What a load of tosh. Blaming the fans for being quiet and groaning when we are under performing? You say they are nervous because of us? If true then they need to grow a pair. They need to come on the kop to know what nervousness is..

Its been a library all season and this is probably the best weve had in years. To say its because of the performance is bollocks its factionally better when we play well.

I agree the stands are nervy but we need to grow a pair and try and create an intimidating atmosphere for the our olayers to play off and put of the opposition. We have an assett which no other in the league does, yet it works against us because it creates tension.

There's no doubt that such silence from a large crowd is detrimental to the players.

They will have all been thinking "well the fans have given up..." and their belief will have drained.

Every home game's a poor atmosphere but last night was especially bad. It wasn't like it usually would be even at 1-0 down. It's obvious why after the previous two games. And it never looked like we could possibly win. But I would've thought we could have mustered some sort of effort - we're top of the league FFS.

If we can't do better than that then it will only make home games harder.

I doubt anyone is going to be animated when we're being beaten by a tram stop in Blackpool

We should be used to it by now, weve been in this league for 6 season. Being beaten by fleetwood is nothing new. If you want the team to bounce back and respond then surely we should try and encourage them with vocal support.

Being mocked by fleetwood 'a bus stop in blackpool' for our shit support to me is more embarrassing than losing itself.
