Got by this season without any pacy players really but will we need a couple this summer? Every PL club seems to have at least 1 or 2 and just watching Bournemouth play and they have plenty with their style. King, Wilson, Ibe and Fraser with also Brooks to come in.
Think its important with your attackers.

I like Bournemouth, that's what we need to be aiming at next year, finishing above them.

It's not pace it's refs playing to the bigger teams, get ready for it boys and girls.

My understanding of Wilder's fondness for B'mouth is their overall approach to recruitment and the quality of player they sign.

It isn't based on following a set of specifics, but admiring what they do and incorporating some of it within Wilder's own approach to making us stronger and equipped to deal with the demands of the Premiership. I think we have a very savvy manager, one well aware of the needs of the modern game and his willingness to adapt wherever necessary. We're in good shape, now let's see who Wilder signs. Attitudes can change with just a few quality signings, so let's see who joins us before assuming anything.

The obsession shows zero signs of abating !!

It WILL take more in the PL. Much more. See Huddersfield.

Wouldn’t it be luvlee, just for once, if our fan based craved for highly technical, skilful footballers ?

To be fair in the 21 minute Wilder Interview he highlighted the exact profile he will be looking for.. not sure he specifically stated pace but he alluded to it. He also said young....

If Bournemouth continue they way they have been they'll be getting relegated next season so that'll help in finishing above them.

They're absolutely awful, less than a point a game in the last 10 and currently being comfortably held back by a 9 man Spurs.

As for pace, chance creation is king, you can be as fast as you want but it the cross is above you it matters not.

No milk floats, but no Olympic sprinters required.

I meant how they went up and stayed up.

Pace, height, strength, set piece ability....

Our recruitment needs to factor in all of those.

I'd barely be signing a single player who isn't a decent athlete.

Got a good result today........eventually :)

Ah, the biannual 'we need pace' thread that appears before each transfer window.

I quite prefer the ol' footballing talent of Duffy, Norwood, Fleck and McGoldrick, but some rapid Connor Washington, Marvin Johnson or Michael O'Halloran fucker would certainly give us another dimension.

Being reight good at football, short, chubby and Scouse > being reight fast and strong and alright at football.

Being reight food at football and also being reight fast and strong... Let's do that.

Players in the Prem are better all round. Pace is nothing if you haven't got the technical ability to go with it. Technical ability isn't much if your 100m time is around 40 seconds.

Look at Watford all 6ft plus athletic and technically good.
It won't be easy to find the right players but if anyone can Wilder can.

So here is the player Profile that Wilder is after, taken from 2 of last weeks interviews. I mean its all pretty obvious, pace come under athletic? good to hear age mentioned though, could do with getting the average age down

- Not finished article (Due to finance)
- Deserve the opportunity
- Fit in with mentality, togetherness (band of brothers)

Look at this Palace team, FFS.

Bissaka, Van Aanholt, Townsend, Zaha, Ayew, Batshuayi..... all these great types, and they're just a nothing side at PL level. It does frighten me a bit.

True but you can say the same about us vs some of the Championship teams we've beaten and/or outplayed. Obviously the level goes up but Wilder is a quick learner and knows what he's after.

Wouldn't mind if Zaha, Townsend, and Wan Bissaka get bought and benched by the top teams next season though all the same.

Great players but reads like a list of individuals too me, if they had a little more cohesion they would be tearing it up. my only concern and Im sick of hearing myself say it, is signing Henderson on loan is a bad move, Needs to be permanent or not at all. our greatest chance of survival if we aren't going to go big is to use the Loan market smartly and if we sign Henderson on loan that leaves only one remaining spot for a loan signing. Whilst on paper Henderson and maybe Reece james on loan is fantastic it puts a lot of pressure on Mitchell, Wilder et al to recruit PL standard players on permanent deals.

having said he's done well enough to date so i'm hardly going to question his recruitment

If there's a chance of a permanent deal for Henderson there's no way we should be pursuing a loan.

As you say, it could be critical.

Imagine if we could get Reece James and Harry Wilson on loan? Difference maker.

I remember Demarai Gray taking us to the cleaners with his pace. There's plenty way better than him obviously, so it is a concern.

Would Harry arter be worth looking at ?

I would say so, I expect there will be a decent No of additions, and as usual many will leave us disappointed to start with and eating our words by xmas.

for me we need

2 x GKs
RWB
LWB
1/2 CBs (L+R)
1 CM
1 AM
2 Strikers

As examples
Dean Henderson
Gary Madine
Ollie McBurnie
Harry Arter (Free)
Andy King
Carl Jenkinson (big wages) (Free)
Stephen Ward (Free)
Tyrone Mings
Michael Hector (LOL)
Gavin Massey (Free)
Nick Powell (Free)
Reece James (Sorry I will not shut up about him until he signs elsewhere)
Harry Wilson
Mason Mount
Lewis Baker
Sam Byram

Some decent options from Chelsea who are in that weird 22-25 year old age bracket and are somehow still considered young players

Arter exactly the kind of player I think we'll avoid, and rightly so.

I agree with the areas of recruitment, definitely need cover/competition for Stevens and Baldock, strikers, a long term Duffy replacement, JOC cover etc, but I doubt we'll be getting people you've heard of like Wilson and Mount, personally wouldn't want Mount anyway, bit nesh, but that's me.

I'd stick Robinson from Preston on the list though if we're throwing names in.

Robinson ticks every box outlined here.
