At last! A late winner!

Deano, you're becoming a bit predictable. If you don't agree with someone then they must/should support Wednesday.

Try summat else, but don't leave it too late like Danny Wilson sometimes does.

Always look forward to your rare but insightful and positive posts Keef. Another one who begs the question "why do they bother?". And well done for still managing to get a dig in at Wilson despite the win. Check the rest of this thread. 95% shared by joy at a last minute winner.

This arguments can be summarised as follows:

Would I be ecstatic if I had sex with [insert name of stunning celebrity of your choice]? Of course!

Do I feel deflated because I have just had sex with my wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend/vaguely attractive per5son I pulled last night and he/she is not the stunning celebrity of my choice? No.

No, my position is: should we be worried that 6 times out of 10 attempts this season all we got was a bit of a grope with a bit of a minger behind the working men's club? Yes. Is sex last night clouding the view of most people? Yes.

Isn't a better analogy for last night one where you spend all night at a club trying to chat up not particularly attractive women and being rejected by all of them and then, just as you are leaving, having given up in despair, a rather attractive young lady demands that you take her home.

Would your happiness at that stroke of good fortune be effected by the fact that you had been singularly unsuccessful the rest of the evening?

We're in this working men's club of our own accord. You have to snog a few mingers to make it back to the Leadmill.

No, I think that rather attractive young lady is the last one on the dance floor and is actually not as attractive as you'd make out. After all, she's only been laid once this year herself. The good fortune does not mask the fact that we were unsuccessful for the rest of the evening, and most evenings this year - because we either dance like Carlton, dress like granddads or have shitbreath.

But we're moonwalking out with the easiest lay in the place as if we've just pulled *insert culturally attractive female of the day*.

Well, yeah. But then we've had to trade in the Jag and the back seat of a Kia Ceed is not going to attract the club stunna.

what is all of this. if they'd have scored.. if..
they didn't.. if danny webber had scored we wouldn't be here now..
if franz ferdinand's driver had been paying attention we wouldn't have had WW1 and if my mother hadn't have fancied it that day then i wouldn't exist either

you don't need a car to pull birds!! lol :D

Happy with the win, still unconvinced by performances, happy to be patient and hope for slight improvement.

Generally feel slightly less than satisfied but not unhappy.

Couldn't care less how we win if I'm honest. We outplayed Notts County by some distance on Satdi and got just a solitary point for our efforts.

We didn't sound particularly good last night, especially second half, yet came away with 3 valuable points. That's the beauty of the game and it's why we all love it and keep coming back for more.

10 games in, unbeaten, and in the top 6. I'd say we have hit all our objectives so far personally. We all moaned last year about too many defeats when we would take a draw, they are points that will add up come May. Ok granted it's mainly been because we've thrown away a winning position, but we have no given right to win every game and have a lot of new players settling in, so I'm pretty happy with how we have started. We are not aboard HMS PissTheLeague and it could be that late winner now really kick starts our season and we string a few consecutive wins together.

you get good by winning games. or humping mingers according to this thread. chelsea have looked pish all season but theyre now on a roll cos they keep winning. if we keep winning, or start winning maybe, confidence will build. and before you can say jimmy is a pea dough, maybe we'll start playing like brazil. or not.

Don't mind you saying that. It's exactly as I intended it. Hartlepool have won one game from nine, scoring eight goals in total and conceding 17. While I agree that nobody has a divine right to beat anybody, you'd certainly hope to beat someone with those stats.

With all due respect, stats dont mean a god damn thing. I dont buy this "we should beat these" approach at all, given our current situation. If it was Man Utd V Frickley Athletic then maybe, but its not.

With those stats you would hope to beat them and score 2 goals for every one they score. But football doesn't always go to form and with our form you would expect a draw. Looks like we did well. "Go Blades!" as Flea might say.

The point is, if Gallagher had not scored that unlikely winner,

tell that to wednesday fans , who are in the championship due to several injury time unlikely winners, or equalisers
never heard them moan about snatching wins

what do you want
I WAS ALWAYS OF THE OPINION A LAST MINUTE GOAL GIVES THE OPPOSITION THE LEAST TIME TO GET BACK INTO IT, SO BY DEFINITION IS THE BEST TIME TO SCORE
didnt Blackburn win at old trafford last season , form said it was impossible, form is only a guide , not a definitive pointer to the outcome

What is this lucky bit

Id hardly SAY A TEAM THAT GETS 90 POINTS AND DOESNT GO UP CAN BE TAGGED AS LUCKY

OR twice gets relegated from them prem on gd with 38 points

If it was, I don't think it was a "very good" one. It was one of those drunken ones that you start to go soft and start to wonder if it's worth it after all then it starts to hurt before finally shooting your load.

....and just as you're reaching the Billy Mill Roundabout your brain becomes concerned with prosaic matters such as "I should have probably gone for a small chicken shish not the large....".

come on Tarquin , get your moan in
only winning 1-0 at Orient , only 3rd
only another clean sheet
only still unbeaten

whats it to be

I think I'll go with (again) happy with the points, happy with the clean sheet (but it's only the 4th from 11 games), but still concerned that after 9 shots on target, we've only scored one. 61% of the possession and we've got a 1-0 result. We need to be taking our chances better.

I'm confused that I'm the object of ridicule because I want better.

I think it's your rather counter intuitive seeing the negative in a last minute winner. For most football fans that calls only for delirium.

We all want better mate. I've been battling mediocrity for years now. The fact is we are getting better, from a significantly low base, under DW. It will take time, though.

Surely 6 points from 2 away games permits some cause for optimism and a restrained celebration? :)

It wasn't the negative in a last minute winner. It was the fact that once more we'd got ourselves into a position of drawing a match by not closing the game out.

I've been a Blade long enough to know you don't celebrate anything in October :(

I've been a Blade long enough to know you don't celebrate anything in October :(

Then you've surely been a Blade long enough to know not to wait for some milestone to celebrate. It's a nailed on fuck up, so I'd learn to enjoy the ride if I were you. I'm all for realism, but let yourself enjoy, just a little.

Out with some pork shortly. Now this will be fun.

:)
