At last! A late winner!

so its 100% certain any top league 1 side will win at Hartlepool, throughout football history
and no clubs at the bottom of any league never wins at home

and teams like southampton , norwich forest etc thats been in here never lose to any team below half way

you dont watch football much do you
The point is, if Gallagher had not scored that unlikely winner, we would have taken another draw. We were minutes away from our 7th draw in 10 games. If he hadn't scored, we'd be complaining about our inability to hold a lead and struggle to keep a clean sheet (2 in 10). That doesn't change. We still have major issues, and one last minute winner against the run of play against a shit team should not be seen as something to celebrate. It simply means we got away with conceding this time.

That is why I'm disappointed, and that is why I'd hoped for better. You can say "teams don't win all their matches" as often as you like. Teams that drop too many points don't get promoted. How many among us thought we were dropping another 2 tonight? We got out of jail, but the fact that we got ourselves into that position - against Hartlepool - is depressing. Really depressing.

And your snarky little comments only serve to highlight how far you have missed that point.

Can't believe your attitude Tarquin. I'm happy that we beat a team in the same league as us in the last minute, whats confusing? Do Man U fans not celebrate if they beat the likes of Southampton in the last minute? Because I am pretty sure they went balistic when RVP netted the third in the last minute to give them the win. They did'nt roll their eyes and think, they've only just been promoted from championship, pathetic.

It was still utterly dire. I thought we may have pressed on after we opened the scoring, but no. I can fully understand why Wilson wanted them to think, the amount of needless/aimless lumps forward was ridiculous. Howard must have kicked the ball straight to Flinders (their keeper, who 'licks windows'?) about five times. Kitson was as mobile on the ground as Thunderbird 2, but he did what he was in the side to do. Cofie came on and offered little, although the ball was being hoofed to him. When Cresswell came on though everyone seemed to switch on and press forward.

If Hartlepool were any good at shooting we would have lost this.

All in all a dire game but with some late relief.

Tads disrespectful to Hartlepool if you dont mind me saying. We dont have a devine right to beat anybody. We aren't massive you know.;) 3 points is 3 points.
Don't mind you saying that. It's exactly as I intended it. Hartlepool have won one game from nine, scoring eight goals in total and conceding 17. While I agree that nobody has a divine right to beat anybody, you'd certainly hope to beat someone with those stats.

No, but then had Man Utd just drawn 6 from their last 8? The situations are different. They celebrated because they won another game. We celebrated because we hadn't just thrown away another 2 points.

Hartlepool Liverpool ,Heeley swimming pool ,you can only beat the pool in front of you. Enjoy 3 points.

Happy we got the win but I have to agree with Tarquin, nothing to celebrate tonight any half decent team would have beaten us, we just got lucky.

We're within a whiff of the automatic spots after offloading all our high earners and with a new, young unbeaten team that's learning. Lot's to be comcerned about, lots to be hopefull about.

I'd choose to focus on the hopefull stuff after a last minute away win, wherever we got it. In 40+ years of following United, I've never expected to win away.

Ah, that's more like it. For a second I thought you'd caught football supporteritis.

:)

Pride doesn't come into. I'm happy because the Blades have won. Simple. Fuck off to the Sty.

Deano, you're becoming a bit predictable. If you don't agree with someone then they must/should support Wednesday.

Try summat else, but don't leave it too late like Danny Wilson sometimes does.

Lol. Anybody who is depressed that we're struggling to beat bottom of League One teams is a Wednesday fan. Listen to yourselves.
We are just coming into our own after losing FOUR quality outfield players from last season, with a two greedy interchangable 1999 Marcus Bents up front and a quality Prem/Champ striker scoring 2 in 2 after sharpening up.... sniffing distance of automatic...man the fuck up

Is anybody else a little deflated with it though?

You think that beating Hartlepool, a team who have only won one game this season, with a last-gasp winner after a second half that we'd been pissed all over by the sound of it is something to be proud of?

FFS. Who said anything about being proud of beating Hartlepool? It is what it is, we're in this league for a reason, we have to beat teams like these to have a chance of getting out of it. Like this or not, you'd better get used to it.

A lucky win against bottom four is not "coming into our own". If that is "our own" then we truly have much to be depressed about.

If we were lucky, Ill take it. We were unlucky not to destroy County Saturday.

A couple of people have referred to a "lucky" win. How did luck affect the result? I'm unaware of any beach balls, balloons or other foreign objects in the penalty area. So far as I know both our goals were scored within the rules of the game and the opposition were not denied by any misfortune?

Do you mean we won without playing well? That happens all the time; so does the converse, as was demonstrated last Saturday.

I went to Hartlepool and saw a utd team tipped to get out of the championship lose 2-0 with absolutely no plus points to take from the game so I'm well happy with winning there when we're in the same league.

Well I have to say that was a dreaful performance and you have to feel a tad sorry for Hartlepool, who were by far the better side, but I'll take the three points thank you very much. Very little football played tonight, though the conditions were bad, swirly wind and rain during the game. Good song for Flinders which made him smile. I suppose Quinny's song was always going to be sung to Kitson. Good support tonight considering the football on display.

There was a huge plus point within days though!

Dreadful performance? Can't agree there. We weren't great but dreadful is taking it a bit far.

Agree re conditions being bad thou. I thought Maguire was unlucky to be booked especially when you consider the two challenges on our players in the following few minutes did not warrant a card.

For all Hartlepool's long throws, long balls towards Steve Howard, and Steve Howard bullying Harry for most of the game,I cannot recall a save Howard had to make.

Strange game in that, when they scored and we brought Cresswell on,we started to play football, passed to feet and used the width. Cofe should have done better with a chance and Cressy was unlucky not to get on the end of a Hill cross.

Gallagher and Flynn got through a lot of work today but I thought KMac and Doyle passed sideways to much and Doyle in particular kept giving the ball away.

Average performance, good win,two well taken goals and great support.

And don't forget,Flinders licks windows :-)

How was it a lucky win?

I've not seen the goal yet but did a Hartlepool defender wallop the ball at Gallagher's arse and it ricocheted in or summat?

Really. This from "puppet" isn't nearly half as sharp as you seem to hope it is.
My log-in is one I have consistently used from a time when the internet was new-ish 15 years plus on credible Blades forums, your point is?

its a good win, with a crap performance against a crap side. its a hell of a lot better than swindons zero points against a crap team at home. 3 points is 3 points. whats good is we dont look like conceding more than 1 a game. its a good starting point. i know its early days but id feel a lot happier if we got kitson signed up til the end of the season. unless we have already? i hope we have and i missed it. i have a horrible feeling he'll get a hatful of goals then be off in january leaving us with the guy from the green mile up front.

I just want to be clear on this. Are you saying I should be depressed about my choice of username - TarquinDelouche - because you've been calling yourself "puppet" for the last 15 years on "credible Blades forums"?
