We will be alphabetically 4th from bottom of the Championship.
No pressure then.
How far off that spot come the end of the season remains to be seen.

Worst case I think it will be mid table mediocrity. Best case 5th to 9th.

…I will still be trying to open the wallet on my phone to get in !!

It'll only be one hour until the big Alaves v Vallecano match. Hopefully there'll be an hour of build up coverage on Premier Sports 2.

If Wolves beat Blackburn Friday - we're in the drop zone then!

5th bottom if Wolves draw Blackburn tomorrow, all the Sat 3pm games end in draws (same for Bolton v Preston at 12.30pm). Watford, Southampton and West Ham play on Sunday also Wrexham play on Monday.

Away at Tranmere probably about 1994, someone in the away end had a trumpet or similar brass instrument and was providing accompaniment for the Blades fans singing.
At some stage a Tranmere player went down injured and was laid there receiving treatment for what seemed an eternity before being slowly stretched off.
At which point the trumpeter broke the silence and started playing the Funeral March until they eventually reached the dugout.
Not a chant but very funny at the time!

But maybe you had to be there 😉

I have no idea this season.

Genuinely think we could finish anywhere between 3rd and 22nd.

Currently as it stands right now if say, somewhere around mid table whether that is 17th or 18th or as high as 10th.
With a few new good signings including loans my expectations or predication could go up.

Not that I’m the forum Police or owt - far from it.. it’s probably my OCD or summat.. but did you mean to post this on the ‘spontaneous chant’ thread?

Either way, probably the same guy who used to play GCB (usually badly to rapturous applause) on his trumpet on the Kop. One of my favourite memories from the lane in the mid 90s.

For the attention of Super Furry Blades, I met Sweaty Betty from Mexborough at Wath Methodist Youth club!!!

I think we are a bit of an outside bet.

We have a number of good players. Quite a few of them fell well below their potential last season and that has helped to downplay their collective ability to the outside world. That lack of external expectation can be a good thing.

If we can get that other centre half in, with the likes of Phillips, Riedewald and Rothwell bringing PL experience, I think we can be hard to beat and show decent game management.

We do need a bit more wow factor in those supporting Bamford, so that signing can be key, and I wonder even if the team may evolve to more of a 4-3-3 as Peck and Arblaster potentially get accommodated. I guess we’ll see.

I’m strangely optimistic.

You see
These are the calm, measured and assured insights I can still enjoy.

One of my proudest moments on this forum is this.
My “sweaty” comment rekindling a memory for my fellow Ken, from 50 year ago.

Pretty much my view atm.

If it goes well we’ll be in and around the play-off’s if not we could be in a feyt round the bottom.

Hopefully Wilder and his team have tightened the ship from last season and we’re a more cohesive unit.

at 18.15 on Saturday all my optimism (which is normally a lot when it comes to united) will have gone after coming back down to earth after hearing the same bloke is back behind my seat this season constantly moaning;

"Suwart it aahht Wilder"

"Oh bleedin' hell Cannons warming up now"

"It's refs fault this"

"Get F'kin back to defend Femi"

I expect a similar season to last

We'll just be better defensively and worse offensively, minus the terrible start, but with a stronger top 10 to break into

So, a bit more boring and just as successful

Birmingham also in a playoff spot. Big game. Both fighting to pull into the auto spot!

Btw it's going to take me a long time to stop looking at 6th as the last playoff spot 😤
Wasn't the idea mooted of having 6 teams in the play-offs this season?
Anyone know if this is actually happening?

No, you are absolutely right I did, in fact I have no idea how it ended up on here?

Unfortunately once I realised, it’s was too late, think it’s an age thing! 🙄
