Off the top of my head...

John Short to John Harris
Danny Bergara to Harry Haslam
Jim McSeveney to Ian Porterfield
Geoff Taylor to Dave Bassett
Viv Busby to Howard Kendall
Willie Donachie to Nigel Spackman
John Deehan To Steve Bruce
Kevn Blackwell, David Kelly and Stuart McCall to Neil Warnock
Brian Kidd to Bobby Robson

I start to lose track after that.....

I can think of Steve Thompson (Bruce?) Wally Downes (Bassett) John Deehan (Bruce?) Keith curle (Warnock) and Stuart McCall (Warnock)

McCall was player coach then coach wasn't he? Thought Mick Jones was Warnock's later assistant, but perhaps I've confused the two.

.

John McSeveney... he was so short, he could stand upright in the dugout without bumping his head!

Been racking my brains in trying to remember who was Heath's assistant. who was he?

I think it was Russell Slade ,he certainly took over as caretaker

Nobson had Kidd, who was 1st team coach
Blackwell - Ellis
Speed - Ellis + Carver
Adams - Cork
Wilson - Barlow
Morgs - Unsworth
Weir - Carsley
Fergie - Scholes?

Brian Kidd was Warnock's assistant before he was Robson's.

Think there are similarities between assistant manager and captain where people often have very strong opinions on how good they are despite having very little evidence to base that opinion on.

I totally agree with you on assistant managers. But I've seen Michael Doyle with my own eyes... :)

I met Russell Slade when he was caretaker and a top guy he was too. My son was about 14 and he took time out to talk to him and be interested in what he was doing at school, whether he played football, what he though of the team etc................ I thought he was far too nice a guy to be a manager.

McCall was Warnock's assistant. I had always thought Kidd was appointed by Turry to be one of the coaches against Warnock's wishes
