Alan Nixon reporting we're willing to pay for him.

Not sure it that means a loan fee or a permanent deal, but the last thing I read was Thomas Frank wants to keep him there...

I thought he just wanted to see/assess him first.
I mean, its not great that he's seen him for 2 days and thought 'naaaah, he can go' but if he's RS first choice then im all for it. I'd like that Reading/Forest CB as well

We need to sell Anel (presuming he won't sign) and bring in 3 CBs.

Personally, I wouldn't miss Anel.
I think he goes missing when the chips are down and if he isn't being really pushed to bring the ball out (which he's excellent at) then he's not a brilliant defender. I don't think he's PL level, but he might thrive abroad.

Yeah I agree with that.
The ONLY sad part is, I think he'd suit Selles system. Breaking through the middle. If it means keeping Gus, Cooper and Burrows though I'd get the money while we can. He's not strong enough for the Premier League though no, I think he'll move back abroad.
RS had a brilliant defensive record at Hull though so we just have to trust that he'll replace him correctly.

Frank has said the same about Lankshear think as he’s a new boss he wants to see where all their young fringe players are at before making decisions

I've no idea what a Selles team / system looks like.

He's Spanish, therefore I lazily assume he plays some sort of patient possession based system... but that's at odds with the Hull side I saw last season, which sat off and sucker punched us (3 times).

If we're going to build a team capable of taking us up and staying up then we need to shift the focus onto permanent signings instead of relying on loan signings. If you have 3 season long loan players regularly in your starting line up then you're already at -3 as soon as you go up. You now have to find the money to adequately upgrade and replace them before you even start looking at other positions. Loan players can be good, but when they become key and irreplaceable then your strategy is wrong. Also, when they go back to their parent clubs and get sold for significant values we don't benefit from them. For example, we paid Man City a fee to borrow Doyle. We helped develop him and they then sold him to Wolves. They benefitted from both sides of the deal and we didn't. If the new owners are serious about scouting and recruiting young players to develop and sell on for profit then we need to cut back on the use of loans.

Ever since the Prince got involved in the club we've seen an abundance of loan signings including three out of four seasons where we didn't have a goalkeeper and had to borrow one. That's a key position where we really should own our own.
Agreed Loans to make us better !! Not to help our mates in the EPL with their FFP

And please no more aging last payday pensioner's

Spurs have since brought in another centre back and have about 9 now. Phillips will go on loan after tour of South Korea

I’d be entirely supportive of that approach if that’s the case. If they do bring them back it’s been successful and we’ll make a profit.

I know we don't like selling. But we're always going to be a selling club. Unless your Real Madrid, there's always a higher calling. A player should always be an investment

Exactly which is why you have the analytics in place to identify who you replace them with and when we get very clever at it, they’re already here.
One things we’ve done previously, (and so you’d hope would continue) is those buy backs or release clauses can only be triggered for set periods so you’re not left in the lurch if someone makes a late bid.

Really? To be fair I've never focused on him in a game but if u r correct that's not a ringing endorsement !!
I have only watched him in a 90 min game on tv once to be fair and then the highlights reel. I am not professing to be any expert - just something that struck me.
I wasn't focussing on him in the game and weeks afterwards I probably wouldn't have been able to tell you his name, but at the time I thought 'that player reminds me of Trusty'.
I am not dismissing Phillips as not being good enough, just not convinced he is better than what we have.
I also should probably not take too much away from highlight reels!!

Nixon saying we’re ready to pay £6m if Spurs change their minds
They need reinforcements at all positions after last season. Once Frank gets some players in at CB, he might sanction a sale or at least a loan. Still early days of the transfer circus.

Spurs mate reckons he will leave, rates him, but after last season they will be recruiting CBs and won't be dropping young uns into starting spots.

Also said that young Devine was really, highly rated and considered one of their best prospects, but hasn't progressed and loans haven't worked out. If he can suss out men's football then maybe he's a McAtee type....if not he's a lightweight also-ran.

So has Nixon said we’ve offered £6m and they’ve declined?
We’ve offered 6 and they want to take a look at him before making a decision. It seems Frank is doing it with all the youngsters on the fringe of their first team

Here's Nixon's sun story

All depends on how long spurs want to evaluate him for with new manager .Can united really be hanging about waiting especially with it being a c b we desperately need to fill any other positions we can probably wait .
