It would only make sense if there’s a reason that the new man can’t take his post immediately. The whole asking wilders opinion thing I’m taking with a pinch of salt as it would be very odd. Rodwells only ‘crime’ was refusing to prematurely cancel the generous contract he’d been given by the club, in order to ease the financial shortcomings brought about by their own mismanagement.

Fletcher couldn’t wait to abandon the sinking ship, having applied a minimum of effort into saving it.

If you want to pick one or two out as symbolizing the failure of Sunderland then Lewis Grabban and Jack Roswell are them. Grabban while scoring on the pitch and playing fairly well did not like being taken off and asked for loan to be cut short. As for Rodwell it's not about his pay it's about his desire to play or lack of it. Kit Symons is quoted as saying they thought he had real class when they saw him training. Only problem is he doesn't show any desire to get himself in the team. Still the same after how many seasons. Waste of time and money with that attitude. If you couldn't get a game this season what does that tell you about him.

Agreed it's a bit of flair we need in the middle of the park. The only way I see a striker come in is if Mousset and McBurnie go. Then it's getting the right foil to work with Brewster. Will Billy and Didsy as back up.
