Which player or players are you looking to,to provide the excitement,if like me you were looking forward to Brooks getting more playing time.............and tearing em apart next season.:(

For me its the old cronies Leon and Duffy, its a shame that they are not both 5 years younger.

Wilder has still to bring in the players he's said he wants to add to the squad. No names of course, but a couple of forwards have been mentioned....add to which Wilder has, apart from his existing budget, a slice of Brooks' sale to add to his existing funds, so we're not exactly skint and I'm sure Wilder and Co will do due diligence and chase players who'll improve the Blades.

Coutts and hopefully see a bit more of Regan Slater for some Bladeybladeness...

I hope we can get Slater playing, might not be exciting attacking wise but I've got a good feeling about him. Already looked a better option than Carruthers to me last season, more involvement with the first team will do him good.

Also looking forward to some of the players we brought in, especially in January having a full proper pre season with us and seeing where they are. Also Duffy who had a Bambino last preseason.

Seeing as he’s the only signing, Dean Henderson. Ryan Leonard will hopefully come alive though this year and hold down a spot at right centre half.

I'm pinning my hopes in Jake Wright taking up Brooksie's mantel. Looking forward to him megging Jack Hunt.

Can't wait to see Ched bang in his 30th of the season...................

The magical trio back together linking up in midfield - Fleck, Coutts & Duffy

This is the top and bottom of it. In my opinion, had the midfield 3 started 40 games apiece last season, we'd have got up. There was some stuff about 'teams working us out in the second half of the season' but, frankly, that is rubbish. To the extent that anyone worked us out, they merely worked out a pale imitation of United, post-November 17th. When we were in our stride before the injury, teams simply couldn't live with us.

I'm annoyed about the Brooks transfer, as many other Blades are, but principally from the standpoint of the fee being on the low side in today's market.

From a footballing point view, I actually felt that, frustratingly, Brooks doesn't have an obvious position in the team when Coutts, Fleck and Duffy are in place. And ultimately, they have to be in place, because that is what everything else that is good about us springs from. Brooks, though, doesn't really have the strength to play up front down the middle yet, and the system doesn't really accommodate him playing wide. That leaves him much of the time, merely as an impact sub.

It's almost typical of United to have a top class attacking midfielder on their hands at a time when we don't have an obvious position to play him in. I think back to when we were producing right-backs of the calibre of Lowton, Naughton and Walker, one after the other, when we only needed one (albeit Blackwell shoe-horned Walker and Naughton into the same team by playing the latter in an advanced role).

Anyway, looking forward to seeing Coutts running the games again, and when you look through the squad, there really are some proper players in it now. We just need to add a beast of a commanding centre-half and some pace up front.

Will Wilders targets change to better more expensive players now that we've enjoyed a financial shot in the arm . Or will it be as you were with maybe one or two more to come in of similar worth ?

Wilder's said he's after quality, given he, and the club, have strict wage policies it'll be interesting to see how he manages to persuade this type of player to join us.

Maybe a decent Championship player?

There was never a doubt in my mind that the championship would be where we did the bulk of our shopping this summer . It's the level we'd be looking at that I was unsure about .

I'll say Fleck, with his trademark beat 3 players then shoot he developed over last season.

Fees and wages mate, the two defining articles for every club. Some adopt a cavalier approach in the hope it somehow pays dividends, we seem, quite rightly given our owners aren't the wealthiest, to adopt a more cautious model. It may not excite and arouse the senses but it ensures we don't fall over the financial edge and threaten the very life of our club.
