I’ve always suspected that a good number of the ‘Always preferred the Wednesday’ posts ir ones slagging us off in favour of the Pork come me from Pigs.

They know about Roy’s View From and let’s remember thats they’ll do absolutely anything to big themselves up on the net. Stuff that most Blades would find embarrassing like trying to rig online votes even when it doesn’t affect their team, or suck up to other clubs fan’s is second nature to them. They lie for a living and have no shame in doing so.

As for the OP’s comments about us being the Vale to Stoke etc, I’ve worked all over the UK and in the real world I’ve found just the opposite. Most football fans I speak to prefer us to the Pork for the same reasons that’s been mentioned. They see United as the proper city club with proper fans, not up our own arse or having unjustifiable delusions of grandeur etc. There are exceptions like WBA and Florist but that’s probably down to fairly recent history.

No its is a large number of their fans that come from "not Sheffield" - Ecclesfield, High Green, Chap, Deepcar, Stocksbridge etc were not at all within the Sheffield City limits back in the day

Check your council tax bill, that will tell you where you live now.
In 1899, which is the time in question, it was different though

Stocksbridge, Bradfield and Wortley RDCs did not finally become part of Sheffield until as late as 1974.

So "the same logic" could clearly say that these areas were indeed as much Barnsley as Sheffield prior to then

Apparently he tried to be a big shot at Woves, but they soon fucked him off. Can you think of anything worse than having to sit near this pathetic slob. Worked around the UK for many years and when I tell them about what the Pigs think of and call themselves they just piss themselves laughing. They are a laughing stock and if I did a straw poll it would say we are much the best thought off club in the city. Indeed. Had an hour and a half break in Lincoln earlier, and had a stroll over to Brayford Pool, sat outside Starbucks watching the world go by with a coffee.

Your map is wrong. The southern boundary of Sheffield was further north until 1934 when - against the wishes of the people of parishes like Totley - Sheffield incorporated Totley, Dore, Norton etc. It tried to expand further south in the 1960's by incorporating Coal Aston and was fought off - and again in the 1980s when it made a play for the Hope Valley.

Not that that has owt to do with where the Pigs were - but I just wish you bloody dee-dahs would be happy with Sheffield and leave us Tups alone!

I reckon I might be in a minority on here - but generally speaking I tend to make an effort to get on with opposition fans on a match day (especially when we're away) and to be happy to have a pint and a yakker with them. "Football Unites" and all that. When the whistle blows, then I'm as rabid and partisan as the next bloke - but before (and after - depending on what's happened during the match) I'm happy to spend time with their fans and try to portrait the Blades in a good light.

It's different with the Pigs - too much at stake - - and I'm always wary with the Scabs, Dingles and Leeds fans - - and I can't bring myself to talk to West Ham - - but that still leaves 90 or more sets of fans to get on well with.

And if Port Vale were about to finish ten or more points ahead of Stoke. And if Port Vale had historically similar success to Stoke. And if Port Vale had a better stadium than Stoke.
