Well I blame you completely.
Sometimes you just have to accept that you have no defence
Shame Nigel Clough wasn't as honest.

Well I blame you completely.
Why would you need to make such a guarantee to someone like Marriott? The lure of SUFC should be enough and if it wasn’t, CW wouldn’t be bothered anyway. The player himself would know that if he came and did well, either United would go up or he’d be in the shop window for the Prem anyway. Club would only be spiting itself by taking all the risk, for no reward if/when the player inevitably moved on
The media and fans are not privy.
It’s the club and / or agent that usually blabs first that gets it in to the public domain.
Wilder does right to stick to his valuation and move on.

I think tax probably does come into the equation when negotiating a deal, avoiding it mainly, but my question is why are we taxing brass?I don't think it matters who knows or not, It all comes down to the brass tax
I don't think Lampard had ever heard of him until he read his name on the rumours board. They will have had an eye on him just as we did, for the benefits he provides for a team. I doubt that Derby never wanted him but had a read of S24SU and The Star and thought to offer more just to piss us off.
A well known phenomenon especially in politics.Apparently Wilder has been chasing Waghorn for 2 months and was dismayed when the news became public.
If true, then as soon as fans and the media knew about Waghorn being a transfer target now seems to cause other teams to try and steal them off us under our noses.
Like we all know, Wilder likes to do his transfer business quietly and sometimes pulls off signings where you think "how has he managed that without anybody knowing?" (Blackman, Henderson) No doubt other clubs were hugely interested in Blackman and Henderson before we signed him... maybe having no one know about them being targets has helped us sign them ahead of other teams?
If the news of us being linked and bidding £5m then caused Derby to be willing to spend £8m to sign him, then is that the media and the fans' fault for making the news public?
