Are all clubs like this?

Thank goodness we are in relatively good shape as a club, the previous 6 years pre-Wilder were an awful period of depression on here and there seemed to be so many detractors, anarchists I called them, that you wondered just how many Wednesdayites there were on here.
.....or instead of calling our fans Wednesdayites maybe some of our fans were just pissed off at the club underachieving for 6 years, making stupid mistake after stupid mistake hence venting their fury on here? Just a thought.

I’m just glad Wilder is here, the most important person at the club.

wasnt mistakes just werent good enough

but that first season we had our key player wrongly sent to prison at the vital time
no one can blame the club for that

we wuz robbed , it transpired

I’m not getting into a discussion over that episode again, btl.

I’m sure me, you and everyone have heard it way too many times why we didn’t go up and believe it or not it was a mistake on Evans part, yes, a mistake.

And yet there were so many moaning on here when he was appointed. Were you one of them?

Personally I was delighted when both Clough and Adkins were appointed and even more so when Wilder was.

The manager is always the main man at the club.

Had a read of the rumours section and got to wondering if fans of other clubs are quite so depressing and negative as ours.

Apparently, The Prince is off because KM won’t put as much money in as he wants to....or on the other hand the McCabes are not happy that the Prince has failed to invest as he promised.

Fleck is going to Burnley.

Brooks will be sold

And as a result of all that, Wilder is walking because the players will be sold against his wishes. And he’s got NO MONEY this window to strengthen the side.

Can’t wait for February, looks like we will have a new manager, a midfield of Bash and Lunny, and be in free fall towards the foot of the league. What really frustrates me is that the only news that seems to be “heard of” is the bad news.
We don’t seem to hear about good news, players arriving, how happy they are. Just doom and gloom. Says a lot about folk to me, think it might be worthwhile dodging this place for a month.

Yeah, these bizarre threads like "Fleck off to Burnley" where all the posters on there just reply with stuff like "I know, int it shite?, I'm surprised he stayed this long, we'll be lucky if we get 200 thou, I bet Hanson'll get converted into a central midfielder to replace him"...

I think, being negative is part of every type of forum. Try going on any model of car's forum. I have the new MX5 and stupidly joined the forum. All I read about was how the gearbox was going to explode. 95% of the posts were about how this and that were shit or not working properly. In contrast, my experience of the car has only been positive. It's brilliant. However, I haven't posted that as I can't be arsed, too busy enjoying the car.
When we were flying, pre Coutts' twatting at Burton, my wife said to me, "you lot will have nothing to complain about". I explained, politely, that over the years we have had a lot to complain about. IMO we have evolved into a cynical, scared to hope, bunch. Understandable really, as we have had the rug pulled from under us more times than most other clubs.

This very true, so the loss of Coutts, Fleck, Duffy and Brooks in one fell swoop came as no great surprise to those of us who have suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune for as long as we can remember.

It's easier to be negative. If you're wrong, no one cares too much, they're just happy that things are better than you/they thought. If you're positive, you're lining yourself up for disappointment. Personally, although I can moan as much as the next man, I don't mind setting myself up for disappointment now and then. It's better than being a complete misery all the time.

Are we more negative than other fans? I don't know, but I did comment on another thread how sad it was that a sizeable proportion had listed the worst mistake the board had made in 50 years was something they are going to do next month.

Moaning when who was appointed? Wilder? If you read the forum you know the ones who moan about certain managers and players when they first come, there’s also a search option. You find one post where I’ve said anything remotely shit towards Wilder being appointed and I’ll bow down to your sharkism. ;)

I always give every manager a chance, I was one of the few on here sticking up for the clusterfuck that Adkins ended up serving us.

The manager isn’t always the main man at the club, they sometimes have to answer to other people, hence the pigs debacle.

I have assessed all relevant evidence and I have come to the conclusion that any rational Blade would reach:

We are indeed, doomed.

Pessimism is in the Blades DNA, purely a function of how we've performed over the decades.
Bit like Man City until Aguero changed their biological, comedy club make-up with that injury time goal a few years back (along with quite a few million quid).

Just asked that's all Wizard.

I can't remember my age so how on earth can I remember what everybody said yesterday, never mind summer 2016 FFS.

You can still use the search engine though, although if you just accept my answer of no as it looks like you’ve done then you wouldn’t need to search for anything because it would indeed be correct. :)

If football forums had been around and the internet had been readily available to us between August 1975 and May 1981, I think a whole new definition of doom and gloom might have been invented

These rumours of player x, y & z being sold are sometimes started by pig fans or posted in obscure internet news websites as click bait why? the simple answer to that question lies with the recent history of Sheffield United we have let players go cheaply and without much of a fight that is why the stories and rumours to some can be slightly believable. Until the club consistently shows we will no longer be a soft touch to others wanting our better players we will always have these rumours from others who want to undermine us.

If we really want to know the club's intentions in either player sales player retention or player recruitment then simply listen to what Chris Wilder has to tell us. We know without doubt that he won't smokescreen the fans or fabricate a " Beattie flu " scenario in order to cover the board's spendthriftiness.

This is one of Chris Wilder's traits that can't be controlled by the board.

I think you would all be surprised about how little Wilder is looking for bearing in mind that a number of players are to be moved away as he says.

This squad needs some fresh quality in about 3 areas that's all because we have injured players returning and Whiteman I hope (any news?).

It is in the nature of football fans to be dissatisfied and pessimistic. It surely depends largely on expectations. Only one team can win the Premiership, only 3 get promoted from the Championship, etc., so the vast majority of clubs in a season fail. At the beginning of this season, I think most of us really felt that a top 10 finish would be success, but after being top a few weeks ago, it will feel disappointing if we don't get promoted. I remember an Arsenal fan a few years ago saying that his life was one long disappointment because they had not won a trophy for 4 years; how do you cope with the rest of life if you feel that that is failure?
In addition, we have the right to be pessimistic, having failed so often when things appeared to be going right, and we seem to find original ways of failing which test the most optimistic of fans. But it would be madness not to enjoy the ride at the moment, after 15 months of good football and success. Enjoy the moment, and let the future take care of itself. I doubt the club owners are going to come on here to see what they should do in January...

Every club has targets and players they want to move on. It's no different at BDTBL and I'm sure everyone associated with the club accepts that.

Let's just see what happens.

Merry Christmas to all.

It;s been a quiet one at ISC Towers, so I've mainly been posting on NKT about how Brooks is definitely off for £2m and on the Mazda boards about how shit their gearboxes are.

My New year's resolution is to post more about Brexit, Trump and the weather.

HTH
