Arblaster

Really needs to pack it in this season and start his pre-season early. He’s not made it through a full season without a major injury yet (appreciate his knock at Vale was an impact injury rather than something self inflicted).

He’s got the talent and the attitude if his bodies up for it. Selling Peck in the summer gives him a clear run at the first team too.

we can afford to sell peck if we get a 100% arblaster back next season a fully fit ollie is better than peck every day of the week

Well, everyone has there own opinions on certain players, but the lad just doesn't cut it for me, I hope he proves me wrong.

Arblaster played meaningless games with no pressure or expectation on him in the Premiership then 12 games in the championship 4 of which he never got a kick

Pecks played at a guess 70 odd games at the same level but Arblasters better

I don’t know who is better but Peck has proved he can play at this level and maybe higher with better players around him

What is he? Is he a defensive midfielder? Is he box to box or is he more creative? I worry that he's not spectacularly good at any of the roles.
To use footy manager terms, he's a deep-lying playmaker. We've not really had one since Berge.

Is he really? I thought when he played with Vini at the start of last season he seemed to be more box to box, taking balls on the half turn and driving forward. But since his injury, worry he may have lost that quick half turn, and i worry that he may not be technically proficient enough to not need that turn of pace

His biggest problem is he doesnt seem to be an 'athlete'. He hasn't shown the pace and physical strength to make it at the top level. He may have it to be a good championship player but he's got to prove that next year. Big season upcoming for Oli.

As it stands I reckon Peck is on his way and our first choice CMs next season are Jairo and Rothwell.

Not seen it posted anywhere else yet so thought id ask the question.

Arblaster went down injured and had treatment on the pitch, as he was about to go off the referee told him he didnt have to!? No one really complained about it.. is this a new rule they have brought about recently?

I always assumed if an outfield player receives treatment then they have to leave the pitch until ref ways them on (usually 30 seconds these days)..

I thought he showed some good touches, more so than previously, but he is still ineffective and has been all season

Hope the injury was nothing to do with his knee

Getting the season over with no more problems is the main thing and always has been

He didn’t need to leave the pitch as the opposition player who caused the injury was booked for the challenge.

Since about 2016 I believe, they can stay on if the opponent who caused the injury is booked/sent off.

There’s a couple of other exceptions too;
  • if they’re the goalkeeper
  • injury caused by collision between 2 players on the same team
Wow, cant believe its been changed since 2016 😂 didnt even know & oddly enough that was first timd ive since that happened!

I was still playing in 2016 as well and still never come accross it.

Personally I think it’s a pointless law unless there is blood and the player needs to remove that/get treatment where I think you should be able to use a “free sub” for a blood injury. But going off to come back on again after being treated doesn’t make any sense. If anything it slows the game down as the player has to leave the pitch and their side is at a disadvantage. Especially if you have a free kick near to the opponents penalty area and your striker has to walk off and can’t come back on until the free kick is taken

It was initially brought in to try to stop players faking injuries to waste time, but it’s just become pointless especially with seemingly every club now using a fake goalkeeper injury to have an impromptu team talk.

Much like the crackdown on goalkeepers holding the ball for longer than 8 seconds, it was great for about 2 weeks then just became another nonsense thing that hardly gets enforced properly

Like roll on roll off sub for the player receiving treatment, once treated can come back on but only for the same player replaced with.

Yeah exactly that, they do it rugby union for head injury assessments (HIA)and the “blood bin” for HIAs they have 10 minutes with a Dr whilst a sub is brought on, if they pass the HIA then the sub comes off and it isn’t counted towards the replacements but if they fail the HIA the sub stays on as a replacement. In Rugby I guess it is different as they have specialised positions in theory in football you could swap out a midfielder for a striker or whatever but you couldn’t really do that in union but it would speed things up.

Not too bad an idea. Although they would need to have a process in place that speeds to sub up.. as they could still time waste (getting sub ready etc)..

I also lile the idea being introduced when a goalkeeper goes down for treatment, make it mandatory for them to come off and ben checked over as you say and the replacement goalkeeper to play out the next 5/10 mins. This should hopefully stop thst ridiculous tactic of wasting time and having a team talk... alternatively ban players going over like they do.

Arblaster is the biggest concern for me. He has been back and while and you wouldn’t expect to see him at the level he was before yet, you would expect to see flashes. There has been nothing. The plan will be for him to be first choice next season but he needs the mother of all pre seasons

I wouldn't have him anywhere near that first team.
He needs to be loaned out next season to get back into it, he's to much of a big time Charlie who is obviously now going to be the teachers pet because of his personal life.

You know they've been together a number of years right?

Pecks a driven individual and has an engine. limited with the balll but you don't play regularly for England under 21's if theres not something about you.

As a footballer and taking in to consideration technical ability Arblaster blinds him on the ball. Often looks to be too relaxed but i think thats just his personality.

Fair to say that Sydie Arblaster or Oliver Peck whichever way you want it, would be one hell of a player!!!
