My understanding was that ideally (in addition) to the Archer sale, there would be another sale (Souza or Anel probably) needed. After that, funds from any sales should be made available to Wilder. I also seem to recall that it was mentioned by Bettis that even if we didn't sell anyone (after Archer) we wouldn't be in the shit like we have been in the past few seasons financially and we as a club could manage without another sale, but preferably, there would be another decent sale on top of Archer to make things to ease any pressure. That's how I have interpreted the comments from Bettis previously anyway.

I'm hoping Souza and Anel are both sold for decent fees along with the release of a decent sum for wages from released players and that gives us some real scope for changing things around. It sounds like CW is on with it.
But you would suspect the sale of the additional player needs to generate more than £10m.
So Archer plus £10m. Rounds up to close to the £30m suspected we need.
You then need additional sales to build a significant buying budget.

I'd be surprised if we sell Souza for as much as we paid for him. I can see it being a loan over a permanent.

I would be suprised if David Brooks is sold for more than Bournemouth paid for him unfortunately. I assume a sell on clause is only against the profit?
We 'only' sold him for 11.5 million. Sure hew has his setbacks but I could see 15 million for him

You need to find the £20-30m to cover losses too. Selling those two doesn’t mean we have £10m straight onto the budget.
Regardless of the size of the fees we get for them we would also be freeing up a sizeable chunk of wages from a wage bill that will already be very competitive in the championship next season.

Sounds great. But reality is only a certain amount of quality will be freebies

You're exactly right what you write, but our scouts seem to be recruited from the blind school football academy !!!
There's something like 400 footballers ooc in June yet we will still manage to recruit the dross
Who have we signed so far who's dross ? Window hasn't opened yet and you are critical of the new scouting system ! give it chance.

True Berkshireblade!
Having said that more and more players are seeing out there contract in favour of a move with a view to a signing on fee with a new club.Usually on the back of a poor season for there present club ! Not just relegated ones.

Struggling to meet FFP requirements Villa? That one? I'd love for someone to explain where they'll get £25m of headroom from, particularly as they're about to spend £15m on Archer.

Exactly….not saying we won’t cash in on Arblaster ….but very unlikely Aston Villa will have the flexibility to take a punt on him just yet.

If they get champions league football they won’t be looking at Arblaster & to be honest he shouldn’t be looking them either. Needs first team football regularly now.

I’d be surprised if we sell Souza full stop

We can only sell him if someone is interested in buying him and my guess is there won’t be a club that meets PA’s valuation.

He hasn’t excelled and whilst we all sort of guess he no longer wants to be at our club, he hasn’t exactly put himself in the shop window. His performances for me in general haven’t been up to the required PL standard (as have others) so not sure there’ll be many clubs knocking on our door for his services? We’ll see.

After one of the worst seasons in our history, selling our best prospect in Blaster sounds like a great idea.

For fucks sake, you’re really going shit or bust 🤣.
Don’t tell me, because of FFP, Archer is being included in the deal with a loan back for Ollie

I got texted this earlier today from a friend who hears bits from a friend who hears bits from someone at the club (allegedly). With the caveat that we can't afford the next Archer payment rather than owt to do with FFP.

That's not me saying you should believe a word of it. I certainly don't. Just what I was sent.

Know you’re just passing on what you’ve been told but I can’t work out why there would be more repayments on archer when they’ve got a mandatory buyback on our relegation.

Rumour is he was £18m, we paid 25% up front and the remaining 75% is in effect written off as his transfer fee going back to Villa now we are down.

Your guess is as good as mine. All sounds a bit like numberwang to me, which is why a very generous pinch of salt is needed.

I don’t reckon much will happen for weeks yet.

The seasons not even finished yet, teams still have things to play for, things that will drive their respective budgets for next season. They’ll all clear off on holiday soon and everything will really kick into life in July.

Villa are supposedly flying really close to the wind with their FFP, I personally can’t see them steaming in when the seasons not even over yet and spunking a considerable amount of cash on a teenager who’s only started a handful of games at a good level. They’ll want experienced bodies in for Europe and to ensure they cement their place amongst the top 6 going forward.

He might end up leaving, I wouldn’t be surprised. It might even be to Villa but I don’t think he’ll be their priority so they’ll sort other business first.

It was in paper other day saying that villa were wanting premier league to increase PSR to maximum for final year. This to me indicates they are very close to breaking PSR and are hoping to get out of it before new rules come in
Can't see them wanting archer back if it affects them
